Seth, you are not alone in this, I agree 100% with you. I am a 64 y/o, pasty white European-born US citizen. I spent my first 15 years under Gen. Franco’s fascist dictatorship and met lots of people whose families suffered greatly. I do not want the same for this country, ever. I am post menopausal and my daughter just had a hysterectomy at the age of 30, but I am very concerned about all women of reproductive age and a miriad other issues. I have not shed a tear after this debacle and instead become a very angry b*tch, and being angry serves me well to stay determined and keep my BP down. I haven't eaten since Tuesday... I wake up with piercing stomach pain every morning after being up most of the night. Whenever I see or hear the Combover Conman's voice my heart starts racing. The thought of this criminal getting back into office is one thing, but I can't get over the fact that so many people support it. That's the hardest part... knowing I'm surrounded by so many morally bankrupt people, including my own mother who allowed herself to be brainwashed by Fox "news". I have nothing but love for you. I am part of the lgbtq community as well and there are multiple individuals in my immediate family who are at grave risk even greater risk than me. Much love and support. If you have children I really feel you need to get out of the country as soon as possible before January 20. I believe it is highly possible that they will close the borders and not allow people in the lgbtq community to leave with their children. Remember what he did with the muslim ban as soon as he took office? My family physician is from Lebanon and she was trapped in the United States for years and couldn't see her family. But last year did a check online to see where my older brother was. We had a dysfunctional family and we all split from each other. We worked at the same company. Years passed. We had a falling out. I moved here from LA. Online i saw Marc had moved just about 20 miles away from me. He bought a house with a friend of his. As a scientist, a huge concern I and my colleagues have is how RFK jr in charge of public health will impact funding our lab. We primarily get funded through NIH, and having a conservative administration in general already limits funding. Adding someone like RFK Jr into the mix is very concerning.

Reach out to the less fortunate. In SF CA there are so many in my neighborhood who need comforting, clean socks, cold water, a poncho in the rain, a sandwich, kindness. Gratitude is magic. I learned this after being homeless myself. Focus on what you have control of. But for now we grieve. 😢
