When I was 15 I had a dream of the shroud, never having seen it before (grew up Protestant). I had no idea what it was, I thought it was an image of Christ's face carved into wood. In the dream a drop of blood ran down the side of his nose. I treasured that dream, and it wasn't until I was in college that I finally saw, on the back of a book, the photograph of the negative image of the shroud of Turin, and it was an exact match to the image I saw in my dream. I literally fell down stunned on the floor of the bookstore I was in.

A new feeling for me is that the Shroud is in some way miraculous and could be the instrument to bring a lot of people back to faith, this is simething needs to happen to save the modern world, I cant see anither way.

God Bless you, Amanda!--the shroud is not the only artifact worth looking into. Jesus has made himself known in Eucharistic Miracles for thousands of years. Especially notable are those of Buenos Aires (1992) and Lanciano (750). Many more are collected in the book "The Eucharistic Miracles of the World". In these cases, the Eucharist outwardly manifests its reality as the flesh and blood of Jesus. The blood types align over 1000s of years of different Eucharistic miracles and secular scientists have reported that the flesh of the aorta and grains of the wheat are interlaced at microscopic levels that are impossible for humans to produce. This is not some medieval myth but the result of double-blind electron microscopy conducted in the last few decades. The physical evidence tells us the same thing the bible has told us since antiquity: Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was incarnate, bled, and died for us. He took on our nature, defeated Satan, and redeemed fallen humanity. He gave His apostles, and through them His Church the power to confect His body, blood, soul, and divinity, to forgive sins, and to cast out demons. He will not leave us orphans but will be with us unto Eternity. Amen!

I love your honesty! My experience was, once I gave my whole heart to Jesus, acknowledging who He is (Son of God) and who I was (an imperfect sinful man) willfully surrendering my last 1%, it made all the difference in my life AND in the life of others around me. I was still the SAME person but my outlook on life was different, I had hope, I was able to love more, to be more compassionate, more confident, content, forgiving and grateful for my life. Not looking back at my past but transformed into the person God made me to be… that I always wanted to be…I discovered freedom from any past guilt & shame… I could now ask for forgiveness and forgive others experiencing reconciliation. I don’t know you but I wish you too to have the same personal relationship with Jesus… you will not regret. We humans love imperfectly but His love will not change!!!

Baptist? You must repent of your sins you must be born again. This Catholic Church is not of God it is of Satan. God's word says do not make on yourself any graving image yet they're engraving images all over the Catholic church grounds! There's one mediator between man and God, Christ Jesus! Why do Catholics pray to Mary, a Lost Sinner that was headed for hell, blessed above all women in the fact that she is the only woman who ever had or ever would be able to have her own savior come from her womb. She is not someone to be worshiped. God is the only one to be worshiped that is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ created everything, including Mary. Your good works will not get you to heaven they will only get you to help. Through the righteousness of Jesus Christ is the only way you get to heaven. Our good works are as filthy rags before God. We get there is because of how good God is through his grace and his Mercy his love his forgiveness. Being baptized as an infant will not save anyone. You must repent you must be born again a baby cannot do that. You are a sinner and you have to realize that and repent and accept the sacrifice of Jesus Christ made on the cross for your sins. shroud is not His. He was only there 3 days!

Same here, except I didn't return to the catholic church. I'm more a Christian then a catholic. I am so happy you've returned to the lord, its so beautiful! We are all Christian, I know many will argue this with me, its one reason I don't go to a church, as in a building, but I do gather with brothers and sisters from all branches of the faith, I grow with information and deeper faith by the day. I became a VERY bad man, went to prison , became a drug addict, I was very violent, and a leader of other bad men. I even tool many from the faith, I am highly educated in world religions and coukd use the bibke as a weapon against people of the faith, shredding men of faith like a demon, and as a good looking , well built , trained fighter with years of being a violent leader of men I was skilled in manipulation I could do so with ease. Now I find disgust in what I've done, and I have no ide why God opened my eyes, I didn't ask, but they opened and I was filled with a deep fear, I could FEEL and SEE the evil in the world and a very large part radiated from me, I felt the demons and they enjoyed me, tortured me, mentally and emotionally, my pride wasn't me anymore, I could HEAR them goated me, and I cried out, and I felt peace and warmth for the first time since childhood, don't get me wrong I didn't change in a second but I could resist more and more , the demon which sounded like me, showed me memories and made me feel how I should react no longer could make me act anymore, it was a choice again, at first I made bad choices, but I grew stronger and stronger, I stopped hiding my faith, who I was around changed, as my old followers no longer accepted me, but I could be better. I'm still growing and would love prayers and will return them, if your willing. God bless you, may you find peace and love in Jesus, and may the spirit guide your steps.

Same, i was an atheist for 18+ years. I'm 30 now and making my way back to the Church. I've always believed that those stories in the Bible were myths made up my men thousands of years ago and had no relevance to me whatsoever. After watching The Passion for the first time in years, I wept. I felt sick after seeing what Jesus went through for me even after the life I lived. How could I have been so ungrateful? I heard the story since I was a child in Catholic school but never realized what this Man went through for us. Actually seeing what was done to His body made a difference for me, it made it real. I've been reading the Gospels now in a whole different way, as if it was real and the truth, because it is. I never believed in the shroud until recently. After seeing the damage done to His body in the movie and seeing the wounds that were documented in the shroud I now have no doubt it is real. I highly recommend everyone watch the Passion of the Christ, it's a life changing movie once you realize it really happened.

So fascinating! Thank you both so much. The core mysteries of our faith are indeed the incarnation and the resurrection And are of course here - by definition when addressing the truths bound up in this uniquely Holy Shroud - which i like to think of as simply having taken an imprint of the RESURRECTION ie the geatest miracle of all time - inevitably -at the very center of every minute of this extraordinary , detailed and mesmerising discussion & presentation. I can well see why Father Andrew has found it to have become the very spearhead of his vocation. For those scientists who maybe challenged to take seriously the questions posed by the resurrection, one word which was not used in this discussion was “radiation” or light energy. In another video i watched faitly recently on the same subject, the person was comparing the energy released at the point of resurrection, to the number of lumens required to light a massive football statdium in the US near where that person lived. His conclusion was that far more was involved in the resurrection & that was how he accounted for the “time stamp” left on the shroud Thank you and congratulations Matt Fradd for giving Father Andrew this platform! You have blessed us all immeasurably!

Not quite. I do love the shroud as a testimonial relic. However, The Ark of the Covenant, the MercySeat, with our Great High Priest Yeshua’s blood upon it, predates the shroud and the glory-photographing of the Resurrection miracle. This Ark received His blood sprinkled according to fulfillment the Law to make Atonement for mankind. Jeremiah hid up the Ark and it was beneath Golgotha to receive the Holy Blood of Jesus…and He said: “It is finished.” And He gave up the ghost. It is the 1st witness to the Christ; the Shroud is the 2nd. There may be more relics, but by 2 or 3 witnesses shall every word/work of God be established.

@@pintswithaquinas Hello. Could you please forward the following to Andrew Dalton. It would be great to get first hand statements on my claims. Many thanks: NO SHROUD mentioned in the gospels! I started to think about the Shroud of Turin some weeks ago because quite a lot of KZbin channels claim that it is 100 % sure the burial cloth of Jesus. So I did what Paul said: 1Thess 5,21 but test them all; hold on to what is good, I searched for all the relevant "burial" verses in the gospels and I did some basic Greek word studies on BibleHub (free bible study webpage - select Interlinear): Mk 15,46 And Joseph bought linen cloth [SINDONA, singular] and taking him down, wrapped [ENEILESEN] him in the linen cloth [SINDONI, singular] and laid him in a tomb that had been cut out of the rock. And he rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb. Joh 19,39 Nicodemus also, who earlier had come to Jesus by night, came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds in weight [about 32 kg]. Joh 19,40 So they took the body of Jesus and bound [EDESAN] it in linen cloths [OTHONIOIS, plural] with [META] the spices [AROMATON; about 32 kg], as is the burial custom of the Jews. Mk 16,1 When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices [AROMATA] so that they might go to anoint [ALEIPSOSIN] Jesus. (1) SINDON > "a linen cloth" or "linen cloth"? I quickly recognised that some Bible translations of SINDON are adding the indefinite article "a" although there is no one in the original Greek texts. Is it mandatory to add "a" and is it also mandatory to understand "the" plus noun singular always as one piece only? If SINDON must be understood as one large piece linen only (like the Shroud) - where the bandages (OTHONION) and the head cloth (SOUDARION) came from? Why the gospel of John does not mention SINDON? Answer: SINDON must be translated/understood as a general material description "linen cloth" and it means all the needed burial cloth (bandages and head cloth). Joseph for sure knew what was needed according to the burial custom of (rich) Jews at that time. And John didn't mention SINDON in his gospel because he also didn't mention the purchase of Joseph. (2) SPICES > stains/particles Nicodemus organised a 32 kg sticky mixture of myrrh and aloes. Together with Joseph they wrapped/bound the body in linen (OTHONION) WITH the spices. They completed this work according to the burial custom of Jews at that time. STURP (Shroud Of Turin Research Program) used many analytical methods and finally it was even emphasised that not any trace of spices/oils were detected!? But there must be at least non degradable stains/particles of spices (like for blood)!? And if in the meantime a failure of STURP was revealed - how the adding of spices worked with something like the Shroud of Turin? Answer: OTHONION means bandages and the spices were put between the bandages when the body (except the head) was wrapped/bound by Joseph and Nicodemus. This was done promptly after taking Jesus from the cross. (3) SOUDARION Shroud If the complete body of Jesus was already wrapped/bound by Joseph and Nicodemus in something like the Shroud - why there was a need to add a head cloth (SOUDARION)? Also Lazarus wore a head cloth when coming out the tomb himself (Joh 11,44). Despite the burial cloth Lazarus was able to stand up and to go!? Answer: The SOUDARION was added also promply and it remained there until the resurrection. (4) WOMEN > anointing Jesus was transported to the nearby rock-tomb and was laid in there. Some of the women observed this and nothing else was done in the tomb. After Sabbath the women came with the intention to anoint Jesus. How this worked if the body was completely wrapped/bound in linen with the spices? To get access at least to his head they would have had to remove/destroy the wrapping and uncovering a naked man underneath!? Answer: The women came after Sabbath with the intention to anoint Jesus' head (hair/face). This was an act of honour that could have been done easily by removing the head cloth (SOUDARION). But it would have been almost impossible and illogic with something like the Shroud of Turin. So there is no need to trust a still doubtful and controversial relic like the Shroud of Turin to be the authentic burial cloth of Jesus. Joh 20,29 Then Jesus told him, ‘Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.’

I am devoted to the shroud, one day I was meditating in my bedroom on the Passion with the image of Jesus back from the shroud and I felt a very intense presense at my side, I knew it was Jesus, I could not see Him, but I was overwhelmed with sorrow and I understood how I had done this to Him and I cried and cried and asked Him for forgiveness, I was hugging my pillow because I wanted to hug Our lord so bad!! It was truly a mystical experience! Thanks be to God!❤

Unfortunately for you, it is proven to be a forgery beyond a shadow of a doubt and not only by science! But the artist who made the shroud confessed that it was a forgery! Moreover, there is no credible way to harmonize the biblical evidence regarding Jesus's burial with the image on the shroud of Turin! It is definitely a forgery. Even the Pope says that it was a man-made icon but not a historical one!!!

I'm happy to hear that😊. The thing we have to remember is that we can't judge Jesus and His validity, by his representatives on earth who are sinful and imperfect. What I guess I'm saying is even if you aren't comfortable in church, you can have a relationship with Jesus right in your bedroom. God is everywhere and would continue to exist if every church and priest, Catholic, Protestant or Orthodox were destroyed. So, it's easy to ease back into it, by just reestablishing your Relationship with Jesus and talking to him. Then he will help you find the right church. I've seen God do some amazing miracles.

But your gonna die soon, this life isn't long, nothing here will last forever. There is no risk in following Jesus and trusting him. There is a huge risk in ignoring his existence it's not worth meeting Satan. We all want proof and we have proof Satan's actions are not hidden, they are all around you, the horrors of this world, the evil that is. The evil makes sure it hides the truth from us. When you have faith their is no fear of death, who cares if you die tomorrow If you know your going to a better place forever. Imagine the hell scape world if we was all atheist and where cut off from God's existence? If more could find their way to him the world would only become a better place, we need you to be a warrior of God and find him, and get out and spread the word, we need you and you need him.

Sis i hope you understand as others here Catholics are christian it's just a denomination name the real church don't forget started with Peter Thus where all other churches come from and broke off Catholics are christian like you yet not all obviously because like even in regular churches they don't preach on Salvation and gospel message of Christ and many churches are accepting sin to be allowed like LGBTQ. Or having lesbian ministers and gay pastors when the bible is very clear on homosexuality as sin that must be repented or. I grew up a Baptist in a Baptist Church these Catholics grew up as believers in Christ in the Catholic Church just a demonization I had to write this sadly because most Christians think Catholics aren't christian like hello they believe and worship Christ lol though as said there's many false Christians in the Catholic Church such as the Roman Catholic beliefs are far from the actual Bibles teachings they follow men and mens ways not God. Though there's good Christians slash Catholics also who are saved and have accepted Christ as lord and do follow Christ and walking in love and forgiveness and a daily repentance....

I especially appreciated the discussion of how Jesus perfectly fulfills EVERY Messianic scripture/ prophesy, and all of the details about the Crown of Thorns, "thorns and thickets", Abraham/ Issac, etc. The Word is SOOO DETAILED and so AMAZING, just like our Jesus, and Father Andrew is so gifted in his eloquent descriptions. @@captivedesk3168 Hey, if you’re curious, you should watch Metatron’s breakdown of the authenticity of the shroud. He says the painting hypothesis has been thrown out pretty much, no scientific evidence of pigmentation or techniques used by artisans. Plus he mentioned they could identify the shroud indeed had real blood, AB- I believe. Several hypotheses that attempt to explain the creation of the image also exceed our current understanding of the laws of physics. I don’t base my faith on the shroud, but many arguments I’ve heard against it just don’t hold muster. *Also, it is in fact dated to medieval era, but this is likely because they only took a sample from one area of the shroud. Reweaving I think is to have been done for a fabric so old, hence would not be surprised to find if different areas of the shroud are different ages.

They kept repeating the tripe about the 1980’s carbon dating test. I kept telling them to watch it and they would see. 2 of them finally did and they changed their tune immediately and went quiet and stopped the scoffing. Especially considering the fact it’s from peer reviewed studies. I’d urge you to look into the Traditional Catholic faith and Traditional Catholic mass of all ages. I was like that in my teens, but softened to appreciative agnostic as I studied history at uni, particularly interested in late antique and medieval, for which church history and religiosity are significant. In that respect, that cultural/intellectual interest that is fundamentally agnostic was a longer period for me, and something I tend to slipback too. However, I still relate to that shame of my former admonishment and derision of Christianity. I find Paul's road to Damascus so very moving in that respect. @@dmagic5183

@kessiawright1710 Жыл бұрын
@@maryqcarnes4482How could she be sinless? Only the finished work of the cross does that. The only sinless one was Jesus. I am not saying Mary was not a good woman, only that she was a woman. No one is sinless. We can believe what Jesus did and are changed, but that is the only way and Jesus said He was the only way to the Father. The Bible doesn't talk about Mary's death. John, the Baptist's death is in there, Paul's death is recorded, but not Mary's death. She was human. She still had to go to the Father through Jesus even though she was his mother. That is Biblical. Still not saying that she was not a good woman. Just that as a human, she could only go to heaven because of what Jesus did and not her good works. The Bible says our works are like dirty rags. That means we can do nothing to earn Salvation, it is a gift. If you have to work for a gift, it is no longer a gift, it is your pay cheque. The Bible also says that Faith without works is dead. The Faith in the finished work of the cross comes first. The works, or good deeds, come from a humble gratitude of what Jesus did and wanting to share the love we experienced with others. The attitude is totally different. If we do good works to earn God's gift, then the gift is meaningless. It is no longer a gift. The Bible says we have all sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. ALL, which included Mary, have sinned. Again, it doesn't mean she was not a good woman, she believed in the scripture and loved God, but she was a believer in the first covenant, where you had to do certain things to get God's favour. There were sacrifices and dietary rules and many other things, some where add ons by religious people because no one can truly follow the 10 commandments. I am not Catholic, but I went to a great Catholic high school. A Priest sometimes did Mass for students during special times. I was there, and was part of the school band that played for them, but I didn't take communion with them, I did that at my own Church. Anyway, the Priest always said that Protestents know the Bible better than Catholics because we read it and encouraged all the students to read it. I encourage you to start with the Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. It does not say Mary was sinless.

@@freewilldoesntexist4075 Yo, friend. ^^ Hey, have you ever heard of a radio show called "Catholic Answers Live"? It's a call-in show where experts in the Christian faith -- in the Catholic tradition -- take questions from all sorts of people! Literally anyone can call -- Christians, atheists, agnostics -- anyone! And it's 100% free. I don't mean to antagonize you in any way by posting this! I just wanted to suggest that you could call them and pose your questions. :D Please, try it! I think you'll find a lot of neat and surprising answers to your objections against the faith. Because -- yes, of course there are answers to everything! How could there not be? :) Christians and people of faith are not your enemy, my friend. :) I care about you; I want nothing but eternal joy for you! And nothing in the Bible is absurd when you read it in context (you know -- historical context, linguistic context, literary context, etc.). The things you mention in your post just happen to be somewhat flawed interpretations of Scripture, tragically! I'm not saying it's your fault -- just that sadly many atheists aren't all that skilled at biblical interpretation. The reality is that faith and reason are not opposed to each other. They are the two wings with which the human spirit rises to the contemplation of God! So, yeah, definitely do call the Catholic Answers apologists and fire all your questions at them. Many Christians you encounter on KZbin might not be as well equipped to explain their faith to others, because everyone is at a different stage in their learning process -- but take on the pros, and you'll be so glad that you did. It'll be a much better investment of your time and energy than these comment box debates! Lastly, another tip: read the book "Hard Sayings: A Catholic Approach to Answering Bible Difficulties" by Trent Horn. I think it'll go a long way toward helping you interpret the Bible in a more correct way! While I'm at it, I also recommend checking out the website catholic.com. I swear I'm not deliberately promoting the Catholic faith to you, haha. I'm just suggesting it because there are a lot of free articles there that can help with your questions. There you can search up anything -- for instance, "Lot" or "Noah" -- and you can find some good guidelines regarding how to interpret that particular narrative. Different articles may have slightly different points of view, but they're all valid. For instance, here's an article about Noah's ark that I think you might like: www.catholic.com/magazine/online-edition/a-catholic-perspective-on-a-new-attraction Anyways -- in all sincerity, I believe very few people in the world actually deny the Christian faith. But a HUGE number of people deny what they mistakenly believe to be the Christian faith! I'm not asking you to "unquestioningly" accept everything we propose; just.... well, maybe be willing to open your mind to the possibilities. :) As the original commenter said: If you outright refuse to accept God, nothing anyone can say will convince you. But if your heart is open -- if you're willing to honestly examine the evidence for God FROM OUR POV and letting it speak to you..... I mean, who knows, right? I will never lose hope that you too can have eternal life! Cheers, friend, I'll pray for you; may my Lord bless you. :)

I have not been able to identify the source of the words on a favorite can cozy. After watching this, I’m thinking maybe Jesus should get the credit. “If you’re not living on the edge, you’re taking up too much space.” The Shroud as a revelation of the Resurrection bring us to the edge. If I may, I’d like to share what I’ve felt led to-about divine blessing and God’s hope for humanity. I have faith in divine blessing, that God’s lovingkindness guides and sustains all creation. Further, we are invited to say Yes to God’s hope for humanity-that we embrace, embody, and express God’s lovingkindness. Jesus demonstrated the depth of our human capacity to love when we are open to the Father’s love and the power and wisdom of the Holy Spirit. We can fulfill God’s hope for humanity. We can cultivate kindness and create a culture of kindness. Be the blessing, be the light. Commit to kindness, mindful kindness. Pause, breathe, choose. Choose kindness, mindful kindness. Namaste.

The Shroud of Turin has never been to Australia. It has been only in Turin since 1578. In 1578, the house of Savoy moved the shroud to the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist in Turin, which later became part of Italy. It has remained there ever since, with the exception of World War II, when Italy relocated it for safekeeping. It is such a valuable relic of the Catholic Church that it has been protected and kept in the same Cathedral for the past 445 years. You may have seen one of the replicas, but in order to see the original you have to travel to Turin, Italy. The Shroud was never on public display between 1978 and 2000.

And the thousands of manhours of research do a fine job at showing who was on the Shroud as well.

Matt, thank you for this amazing interview. Certainly sharing it with many in my life. How amazing is Fr. Dolton. Well done with such passion and devotion. Jesus is the Supernatural power we all need to have permanently in our lives at all times. well done and thank you from OZ.

Thank you Father Andrew & Matt Fradd!! I’m a believer. This information is amazing!! I read the papers in ‘88, but I didn’t believe them. Since I heard about The Shroud, & read about it when I was young, I have always believed it was the burial cloth of Jesus. I do believe it is the result of the “nature effect of a supernatural event”!! Thank you both for this 3 hour event!! This is the 4th time I’ve watched it.

I am a retired research engineer. [I have earned 3 engineering degrees and completed my graduate work at Stanford University. I am retired from Sandia National Laboratories. (I also completed the Master Catachist training as well.) I was involved in the evaluation/analysis of the shroud during the mid-eighties as I was the Environmental Test expert. I was deeply concerned about the work that was done because they seemed to have been given a conclusion (That it was NOT the shroud of Christ) before anything was done; hence the research and conclusion were a FRAUD. The greatest error was the FACT that you CANNOT use carbon dating on anything that has been through a FIRE. [It alters the carbon ratio and makes the shroud appear YOUNGER than it really is.] My concerns were rejected (Even though I was correct) as they already had been given a conclusion (It was NOT the shroud of Christ) to prove...FALSELY of course. With this type of analysis there are so many complicated variables that come into play. All of the analyses that could be done "accurately" certainly pointed in the direction of it being the TRUE shroud of Christ! (There was no question in my mind.) Beyond THAT is where faith comes in...[Yes I'm one of those over-educated Uber-nerds that is a true believer...True Catholic.] I have never needed the shroud's authenticity for my faith as it is something that is incredible to have but not necessary to believe that the Catholic Church is indeed the ONE church established by Christ. However, as a research Engineer, my greatest "faith" concerns are regarding issues with some of the recent leadership's comments...and lack of comments...

I’m a Jewish believer. I don’t call no man Father nor Rabbi. But Mr . Dalton this is the best detailed Biblical and Scientific explanation of the Shroud of Turin ever explained on KZbin that I’ve seen. Thank you

Have you heard of the official photographer of the scientific study of the shroud in 1978, Barrie Schwortz ? He's a Jew who was certain the shroud was a painting BEFORE the study. Now he believes it's the authentic burial cloth of Jesus. I'm with ya on calling a man, Father and I was raised Catholic !

NO SHROUD mentioned in the gospels! Answer: In the context SINDON must be translated/understood as a general material description "linen cloth" and it means all the needed burial cloth (bandages and head cloth). So there is no need to trust a still doubtful and controversial relic like the Shroud of Turin to be the authentic burial cloth of Jesus: Joh 20,29 Then Jesus told him, ‘Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.’

@@danielhagan921 So you are well informed. Could you please give me answers to the following questions? What is the correct Bible translation of SINDON - "A linen cloth" or "linen cloth"? What was bought by Joseph of Arimathea - "one huge piece of linen" or "bandages and "a head cloth"? If Jesus really was wrapped in one huge piece of linen WITH the 32 kg spices - how/where they added this mixture of myrrh and aloes? Why to add a head cloth when the head was already completely covered? What means anointing respectively what the women intended to do step by step after Sabbath?

@@wipo3654 Your questions of me are a bit much, but I'll answer what I can. Keep in mind that I'm not an authority, but instead just an interested person. You'll have to look up what was done with the sudarium, the head cover. It was on Him, and off Him in fast succession. It was probably on Jesus before down from the cross, and off Him before the Shroud was in place. The sudarium contains blood and no image as the Shroud has. How it was used would have been by customs of that time. Keep in mind that, at this time, two well connected Temple persons were present, Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus. They may have been the experts on customs that determined the proper use of these cloths. Also keep in mind that Jesus' death was just before sundown of the Sabbath. Likely this body preparation was hurried work. You're right, the Shroud is about fourteen feet long by three and a half feet wide. The ladies were coming back Sunday to complete a proper body preparation (for burial) that they did not have time for on Friday, and could not do on the Sabbath, the previous day. So they find an opened and empty tomb, the first acknowledgment of Easter. I'm not one who can answer your other questions.

Passing this on to friends and family. As a scientist, I deeply appreciate these conversations where faith and reason are “wings” raising the human spirit. Loved this conversation, Matt. We so often in our field are called to defend our faith on a whim with little to no preparation or honest dialogues. It feels as if we need to justify why God exists rather asking how God can not exist. Appreciate you, brother.

Interesting that secular “scientists” deliberately ignore the plausibility there is a God. I would think an objective mind would consider all possibilities in order to maintain their credibility. Not only do they refuse honest dialogue, they will viciously attack and attempt to destroy any ideas or theories contrary to their beliefs. That would be a difficult field to be involved with. There are many very capable, accomplished and extremely intelligent Christian scientists.

The bit about the pain qnd medical science behind the crucifixion nearly brought me to tears and is exactly what I needed to hear as I prepare for Holy Week. Thank you for this Matt and Fr. Andrew. God bless you. EDIT: the part that followed with Judas and the literal physical pain finally broke me. How often does my sin cause Christ this pain?

IN 2016, SCIENTISTS DISCOVERED THAT WHEN A SPERM ENTERS AN EGG TO BEGIN HUMAN LIFE, THEY WERE STUNNED TO SEE THIS EXPOSION OF LIFE! WE ARE MADE FOR HIM AND ONNNLY HIM! THIS IS THE BEST CASE FOR THE TRUTH OF THE SHROUD, AND THE LOVE OF GOD FOR US, THAT I'VE EVER SEEN! THANK YOU!!! 💖🕊️🙏🏻
