this is what the national broadband network in australia is doing, unfortunately its a multi-technology mix and not FTTP all the way, but the minimum guaranteed and minimum legislated speed is 25/5

Notice most of the representatives complaining about the cost and questioning upgrading to fiber are CEO's or work for ADT, AT&T , or other companies well invested into broad band. They also own most of the radio spectrum and is artificially lowering it. The real people consumers, such as the school in Kansas or the guy giving the stats of how America is lagging behind the rest of the world when it comes to the internet are telling the truth. Our internet is Far more expensive than the rest of the world too and the quality is far less how sad. My sources are www.nasdaq.com/article/americas-internet-speeds-are-embarrassingly-slow-cm307013, gizmodo.com/americas-internet-inequality-a-map-of-whos-got-the-b-1057686215, www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/nov/13/trans-pacific-paternership-intellectual-property. Of course AT&T and ADT is going to tell you to stick with broad band and that you don't need more advanced technology. It means more money for them and they don't have to invest in bringing you better service. Change is bad for big business, they hate competition, and our criminal government is bought and paid for. I mean think about they complain about it costing billions of dollars to upgrade, yet they get a percentage of your tax money to assist them in upgrading people rural areas to broad band yet over 60% of that money is unaccounted for according to what this documentary stated. That is so corrupt, I rather our money go to advancing technology rather than to politicians pockets, military contracts, or out sourcing jobs to other countries. Most of this technology is being made in other countries anyway, check the back of your smart phone. We are being sold out, robbed of our jobs , and regulated to death . All America is good for at the moment is buying stuff , but the money will run out soon with out us investing in technology and manufacturing.

luckely we have 120/12 at home, with the option(pay more) for 200/20. and my cable copany is testing if 500 and 1000 is possible over coax. and more then logical, as they need to compied with glasfiber soon.
