Chip is the best. We were having a photo with them once when Chip saw my wife's Chip N Dale phone cover. He took it from her and ran round showing everyone. Took ages for her to get it back and a photo.

I just couldn’t help but cry when you guys were talking about Walt and the carousel. It’s so crazy special to me that Walt created all of this because of that feeling with his daughters. It gives me goosebumps. He was such a special man. His love for his daughters turned into something so magical that now is something so special to me and my family. It just makes my heart very very happy.

So COOL to see the Studio again! I am 61 years old & until I was 10 we lived in Burbank. My Uncle Dorse Lanpher worked for DISNEY as Special Effects Animator. Stars, Water, Fire, etc ;) I spent many happy Sundays at Griffith Park riding the Carousel & the Pony's that were there, & going to the Zoo. ;) Hope to go back for a visit when I retire in a few years.

The Disney archive reminds me of a home I visited once, the uncle of a good friend was an original Disney animator, Ben Sharpsteen, and he had the actual Academy Award envelope for the award they won for Snow White in his archives

Great video! You probably already know this, but they originally were going to build Disneyland near the Walt Disney Studio lot, but then decided on Anaheim. Some of the original attraction rides were built on the sound stages at the studios. I’m an actor and worked on an ABC TV show that was filming at the studios. It was amazing to be there and walk around. 💫

Actually to add onto this information is that there was a secret group at Stanford University that actually came up with the Anaheim idea. What commissioned surreptitiously I might add a business professor at Stanford to assist him into determining where to put a theme park. The parameters were given to the students such as it needed to be near a freeway. The students scouted locations throughout California and they gave Anaheim as their recommended location. Originally, the students had no idea for whom they were doing this but later on they were notified but sworn to secrecy. There was an article in the San Francisco Chronicle a few years back about one of the ladies who was on the team of students and has now decided to come forward and tell that she was a part of this group.

When I visited the archives, they had Elizabeth Swan's necklace and the "Feed the Birds" snowglobe prop from Mary Poppins on display in one of the reading room cases. We also got to visit the onsite studio prop warehouse (this was before Disney sold/outsourced most of the collection) where they organized recently-used, often-used, and some of the more famous props - I recognized the giant Madonna and Jonathan Pryce portraits from Evita plus some of the cubist prop paintings from the Rocketeer hanging around.

When our daughter planned our California vacation last year she had us having lunch at the Tam o' Shanter restaurant and it was amazing to sit there and think what did Walt an his crew dream up there; Dumbo? Pinocchio? Walt Disney World? Brilliant history!
