We haven't been as much since my mom passed away 3 years ago but I want to start going more again. I'm glad y'all enjoyed your first RV trip.

Absolutely loved your video. My brother and I have been rv-ing for the last 4yrs and love the simple vacation. Listening to the rain hitting the trailer or awning, campfires, playing board games. Soooo happy you guys made this video.

I haven't stayed in an RV for along long time. However I have been in a tent recently and what I love is the sounds you hear at night that you wouldn't necessarily hear in a built up area. I also love the rain. Some months in the UK are not ideal to go camping though. I'd rather it be reasonably warm with no wind. Don't want to wake up with no tent freezing cold
@coburnbatman3 жыл бұрын
From being an RV owner, for future tips.....set the outside awning first. That way in case its raining, your shoes, chairs and outside furniture won't get wet lol. Be careful during windy conditions too. AND, if you plan to buy a pull behind RV like you stayed in....make sure it has a sway bar attached to the hitch of the travel trailer. And don't EVER over inflate your tires. That's how separation happens and blow outs occur

Love Fort Wilderness ! Have stayed at most of the resorts at Disney, just stayed at Poly a few weeks ago n it was wonderful ,but there’s something so magical about the Fort. Just being outside so much , riding around in the golf cart,hearing the boats and the train (hopefully soon) watching the fireworks from the beach,decorating the campsite and golf cart, riding bikes……….it’s where we have made some of our best memories as a family☺️

RV camping for the 1st time means way over packing and alot of "Am I doing this right?" 😆 This reminds me of our first time trailer camping, managing the tanks, and learning about towing! Oh the black tank stories. EVERYONE has a good one. It was hilarious, stressful at times, and very fond memories. What a blessing your 1st experience together is at Disney. PS. If you truly get bit by the RV bug. The Tampa annual RV super show is the place to see and touch all the options out there.

This video honestly made me want to cry 😭. We had a travel trailer growing up, and we did most of our vacations camping. But right after I left for college, my dad passed away from cancer, and my mom sold the trailer, and I haven't been trailer camping since. Seeing you guys just starting out gives me so many memories of doing the same with my parents. I'm so happy for Jackson getting similar memories 💖 Also, Jen I have fallen out of those bunk beds 🤣🤣🤣 many times.

Thank you for sharing fort wilderness. It’s been a place I’ve always wanted to stay. I have family who stay yearly. They don’t even go into Disney every year. They love just the friendships they have made through the years and stay 7 nights where families all come together each year to visit one another. Kid love all the activities at the Fort that many days they ask to just have more time playing than going to stand in lines at the park. The cost to stay at the fort is expensive so my family love to spend less time at the parks and more time where the kids are happy to be together each year.

my husband and I love camping! we started out with a small 18 foot travel trailer and it was perfect. Then we started camping with a big group of friends and they all had larger fifth wheel campers with slide outs, and we had to keep up with the jones' and get a bigger camper. hahahaha. But we are back to the basics now. We just outfitted our jeep with a roof top tent and have a kitchen in the back of the jeep along with a water tank so we can go overlanding and primitive camp. We just had a trip this weekend and had a blast!! Welcome to the camping club! Hope you guys have fun! We hope to camp at fort wilderness one day!

Nice travel trailer for you to rent - benefit of renting is set up is all done for you. We have Motorhome (bus style) RV and hope to get to Fort Wilderness one day with it. You picked a very deluxe RV resort for your first time for sure! Just a tip that RVers take short showers as hot water tanks in RVs are not that big. Really looking forward to rest of this series watching you guys and Jackson camping for first time.

We brought our trailer down from Canada last time we did DisneyWorld and stayed at Fort Wilderness. It made the trip so affordable for our family of 7. Highly recommend. The thing we loved most was how un-crowded it felt even at the end of the day, where in the hotels we've found that the crowds kind of follow you back at the end of the day. I'm really enjoying all your staycation videos and I'm so glad Fort Wilderness became one of your destinations!

Camper shower issue = hot water heaters are very small. Turn on gas and electric both and water will heat up quicker between baths. We turn ours off after baths or dishes are done. Not to waste the propane. You have to turn water on get wet, turn water off while you soap/shampoo up and then turn water back on and rinse off. Camping is a blast, especially at Disney. We camped there when our kids were small and they loved it. They are 32 & 36 now. Time to go back with the grandkids. Enjoy your stay. Jackson will have a blast. 🥰🥰

Bought a 1963 vintage trailer in 2014 - no toilet, bad fridge, needed an extra big truck to pull her, but we travelled all around the Western states with one teenage kid that summer, amazing experience. Loved that old gal, and last yr finally found a good home for her to stay put. (She was a good guest bed and Christmas wrapping station on the back patio for a while!) If we did it again we’d get a light modern camper with all the bells & whistles. Still, managed to haul a lot of family furniture half way across the country, and no hotels necessary. Paid for herself, and priceless memories. Brother in law had a huge fancy fifth wheel for a while, but found the upkeep not worth the trouble. Esp hard times finding a place to park in many types of interesting more mountainous places one might like to visit. Smaller & lighter the better imo. Fun all around tho!

We loved having an RV to explore when our boys were young! We had a diesel, so we got great gas mileage (an important consideration since gas RVs average about 5-7mpg) 😬 a travel trailer can be great too! Rent both, drive both, then decide. 🙂 and enjoy! So many great places to camp in the south and here out west!

We bought a motorhome last year (well, went halves with my Dad) but we’ve been only been away in it once so far, and with 3 kids you can imagine how much we have to take 😆 We plan to go away in it more this year (though not April holidays as we’re in Disney World woop woop) but we have the Lake District booked for August for a week and plan to do some weekends in various other places. I used to go on caravan holidays a lot as a kid, and also go away with my grandparents in their motorhome, so it’s a lot of nostalgia for me 😊

I've camped my whole life, and my stepdad and I run a small family RV rental company in northeastern MA. I can confidently say if you will be camping less than 2-3 times per year, it's not worth owning your own camper. Just find a nice rental company and rent one. It's not worth the upkeep, storage, and maintenance of having your own. Plus you would need to buy a truck to tow it if you choose to get a travel trailer rather than a motorhome. Also most campers have around a 6 gallon hot water heater, so you get very short showers! That's why most of them have showerheads that you can shut off while you're in there to conserve the hot water while you're soaping up. Then you can turn it back on while rinsing, but don't point the showerhead at you when you turn it back on, it will be hot!

If you're going to camp in an RV you have to learn about Navy showers:) RV tanks are too small for ordinary showers - hot and grey. Turn water on, wet yourself, turn water off (usually there is a valve on the shower wand for this), soap yourself up, then rinse. If you need a long, hot shower the comfort stations at the Fort are very nice.
