Thanks for updating the video. I am going to try your steps using your steps to build a Ubuntu 22.04 LXC and get it running. I am using your videos to start my exploration of Docker and containerized workloads. Thanks for the helpful channel! By the way, the long curl command line you included in the notes is truncated. I was able to type it from the video, but it would be nice to get it from the notes section.

So Ubuntu is running in a container and not a VM? Are there any downsides to that Vs VM?

I upgraded to PVE7 on release. I then had an issue of PVE suddenly freezing over night. I fixed it by disabling swap for every LXC. Other than that it runs solid

Did you ever figure out what went wrong with the swap there?

I upgraded to PVE7 about a month after its release. I prep'd for it and had the long list of instructions ready to follow. It went smoothly which was great. I recently install Proxmox7 on a micro PC just the other week to use pretty much for Proxmox containers. I got errors when the container tried to start. Reinstalled, did all the updates again, same thing. Even restored the container from backup that I had setup on my main Proxmox system to test out. Search the net for answer. Lots of usual no help and such. Finally found a real solution. Had to apt-get install binutils. Then the container starts. Even took quite some time before the Ubuntu 220.04 LTS template showed up in the Proxmox list of containers.

hello. my question not about docker but about minecraft vm. ))) when I connect to minecraft vm from another pc by remote session, my mouse not working as expected in game. my character rotating around. somebody have problem like this?

I noticed in the video you have Minecraft servers running in containers. How did you do that? And how do you upgrade Minecraft when there’s an update to Minecraft?

Hi, Yep, those are running in LXC containers. It's quite simple - each of the LXC containers run a bare minimal Ubuntu Linux, you can log in via SSH (or use the console of Proxmox) and you can have a Minecraft server installed via the Fabric installer (which besides helping with the server installation also handles all the mods, etc.). Within the container I use systemd to start up the Minecraft server as a service/daemon. So it's not more complicated than installing a Minecraft server on Linux via the Fabric installer. Regarding updates, the good thing is that it's mostly handled by Fabric - I use it to download a new version of the Minecraft server when I want to update, which leaves me only with updating the mods manually. Now here's the trick: I use my own modpacks (really just a bunch of compatible mods installed together) and I do this installation (e.g. building the modpacks) on my PC via the CurseForge client. Once I'm satisfied with the mod combination I simply copy all of the mod files to the server via a shared folder that is accessible by the containers and by my PC as well. This obviously works with 3rdparty modpacks as well. I know this is anything but a step-by-step guide, but I hope it helps :)
