I beg someone to answer my question, as I will be driving from Texas to this beautiful paradise. At 1:59, I see a few inlets in the beach with places to swim inside ropes. Please tell if that is acessible to the public? Or is it limited to hotel guests only?

This area is called Norriego Point and is open to the public. You just have to pay for parking. $5 to park for 5 hours. There is a Google Maps link in the description that you can use to navigate to this location.

Awesome! I've seen turtles in the swimming areas but mostly see them along the jetties outside the marked swimming areas along with more variety of fish. Be very careful of the currents they can be very strong.

We went last year after seeing this video. Yes we swam along the rock wall outside the roped off swim area and we swam to the next swim inlet and saw a bunch more. The current started getting strong at the end. I think it is recommended to do it at high tide. I think the current is not as strong then. It was cool. Not for little kids. Want to be good swimmers.

We are going to Destin in March- will it be too cold to snorkel? Can you go without a boat?
@thetoneman3 жыл бұрын
The average water temperature in Destin for March is 63 degrees. That is too cold for some, but depends on your cold tolerance. If you can stand the cool water then you can absolutely snorkel in March... I have on occasion. You don't need a boat as some of the best snorkeling in Destin can be had right off the beach at the East Pass jetty and Norriego Point. I have other videos in Destin to give you some idea. Have fun! 😁👍

Hi, we saw your videos and are planning to snorkel at noriego point v soon. Is this footage taken right outside the swimming area? Where exactly do you recommend swimming to see this fauna?
@thetoneman2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Yes, most of the footage is from the jetties that surround Norriego Point. Be careful and watch the current as it can be very strong and I wouldn't recommend going beyond the marked swimming area unless your are a strong experienced swimmer. If you do I find it best to stay close to the rocks where it is easier to swim. Have a great time! 😁

Great Video! Thank you!! I love that you put the addresses. It makes planning easier. So do you park at the address shown above then the snorkel spot is near there? This address: 100 Gulf Shore Dr, Destin, FL 32541. Thanks so much for your response.
@thetoneman Жыл бұрын
Thanks! The address is actually for the last condos on the left, but the Norriego Point parking lot will be directly in front of you at the end of Gulf Shore Dr. You can also park all along Gulf Shore Dr. on your right starting at Osteen Beach Public Access. Once you park, just walk straight ahead towards the beach areas. Currently, there is construction in the area, and the parking lot is closed, and you have to walk to the left of the parking lot to get to the beaches.

@@thetoneman Thank you, which area do you recommend to go take the kids snorkeling and find turtles. Turtles are my husband and daughter favorite.
@thetoneman3 жыл бұрын
@@TheMartfam both Norriego Point and East Pass jetty have shallow swimming areas for kids. If you venture out beyond the swimming areas you will start to feel the currents. You must be an experienced swimmer/snorkeler to contend with the current. I tend to stay near the jetty rocks where the current is less. You are more likely to see a sea turtle at Norriego Point in my experience... not to say you wouldn't see them at the East Pass jetty but they may be deeper and harder to see. In this video the first sea turtle was just beyond the swimming rope at the second swimming area at Norriego Point and the second sea turtle was actually inside the first swimming area. With lots of luck you will see a see turtle or even a friendly manatee. 😁👍

@thetoneman Жыл бұрын
Right, you have to be mindful and careful of the currents. The current can vary depending on the time of day and the tide. You must be a strong swimmer, and I suggest using life jackets/snorkeling vests.
