Im sorry to say but the fish at 1:10 is not a romora shark sucker. Its a baby cobia. i think that the fish being a cobia is way cooler than a sucker

Another fantastic video! Don't know why I've never snorkeled Navarre but will as soon as it warms up. If you ever decide to snorkel Navarre again or Pensacola, let me know and I'll be there. Had plans in each of the last two years to dive with the great whites again but Covid blocked it. Need to get back in the water.

Thanks for sharing this, but why isnt there any plant life growing on the artificial reefs??? Coral is so beautiful and it would draw more sealife to the artificial systems.

Thanks! The growth can vary, and there are more corals now than when this video was made. Each time I visit any of the local reefs, they look different and it is exciting wondering what I'll see 👀 😁👍📷🤿🪸🐬🐟🐠🐡🦈🐙🦀🦐🐚🪼

I went there yesterday to go snorkeling and came back after 10 minutes because there were a lot of jellyfish. I got stung by a nettle fish on the way back in from about only 30 yards out. How can I snorkel there without getting stung?
@thetoneman2 жыл бұрын
Well, it is difficult to determine the weather/water conditions in advance or dangerous sea life like jellyfish but you will probably have fewer jellyfish early in the Summer. There have been large jellyfish blooms the past few years due to weather and sea temperatures around mid to end of summer. You can check "Navarre Beach Lifeguards" on Facebook and they have shown Purple flags lately and tons of jellyfish in the area.

How deep does it get? Are the artificial reefs in shallow enough water that kids can explore but still stand while touching the bottom?
@thetoneman Жыл бұрын
The reef is over 300ft from shore just past the second sand bar. The water can be between 10 to 15 feet, depending on the tide.

shark infested waters?
@thetoneman Жыл бұрын
Well, I'm not sure invested is the right word.... it's their habitat, so it's not out of the question, but most sharks are leary of humans, so you often don't know how close they are. For instance, I've seen sharks kayaking but have yet to see a shark snorkeling. 😁👍🦈

No dive flags anywhere, even when snorkeling you need a dive flag for safety as a minimum.

You are correct. Sometimes there are several dive flags already deployed. I have a new dive flag that I'll be using. 😁👍

Heading to Navarre in July. Is the snorkeling still amazing? Also is it close enough to the shore for an 8 year old to snorkel with dad?
@thetoneman Жыл бұрын
Snorkeling is great spring, summer, and early fall, but the water clarity can vary depending on the weather and levels of algae. I wouldn't recommend this reef for small children since the Gulf side reef is over 300' from shore, and water depth can range from 10' to 15' depending on the tide. You will need a diver down flag, and I highly recommend life jackets or snorkeling vests and other floatation devices for added safety.
