What version is this one, (since they all sound different)? In the beginning of the video, I thought he was going to tell us. He says, "this one is..." and then just comments on something else.. If you want these big muffs to really come to life, hit them from the front with a boost or great mild overdrive. And sometimes they sound good followed by an EQ, but not all big muffs sound good with an EQ behind it, but I find that most sound great with a transparent boost or even a dirty boost in front of it. Most all big muffs need a little kick in the ass to get it at its best. Sometimes I wonder if guys in these videos are using a boost and not telling us.

No, it's friggin' awesome. It's a fuzz box--it's an effect like a wah-wah or a flanger. It isn't meant to sound like a Marshall stack on ten, it's meant to sound like a fuzz box. You probably don't want to use it in every song--just as you don't want use a wah-wah in every song--but it's still a cool and indispensable effect.
