Ya my TJ has the stock original 4.0. it's got 263k miles last time I checked. Its run hard, 33s and 3 inch lift and I redline it multiple times a day. Apart of cam and crank sensors it just add oil and go. The whole time. I bought it with around 105k on it

I bought a 2000 Cherokee in 2010. Automatic. I think it had about 150,000 miles on it when I got it. Can't explain the engineering behind it, but those Cherokees were THE BEST in snow. I remember one storm where there were $40 and $50,000 SUV's in a ditch, as I was chugging along in Low 2 like it was nothing. Drank gas like there was a fist sized hole in the tank, but fun to drive and, despite the high mileage, I never worried about it breaking down and leaving me stranded, and it never did. Damn shame that the majority of people don't want this type of spartan, super-capable, ultra-reliable driving experience anymore. Seems the masses are more concerned with cupholders, vagina warmers, and Apple Car Play. Super glad and grateful that I got to own one for a while.

I don't get it either. My mom has a new mercedes "something or another" suv. It's pretty and fancy and all that but it's kinda boring. It's REALLY boring compared to my 2000 xj. That should tell you something. These xjs are smoking hot for a reason. They are a blast and you can't kill em

another thing to note is that this is the perfect car to learn how to do your own maintenance on since it is so forgiving and robust. I have a 98 with the 4 speed automatic and 140k on the tach, and I have learned everything from oil changes to valve adjustments, and even rigging up some aftermarket fog lights and a new exhaust. When I got the car I barely knew how to change oil, and in the 3 years it's been in my possession, it has made a mechanic out of me.

Greetings from Europe. Just bought a 1999 two-door XJ; I love it! It’s not the 4 litre, just the 2.5 diesel; but hey; it’s 2023, fuel is expensive and we have to also take care of environment. Such a great car; such a cool feeling of real knobs and buttons to press. You get instant haptic feedback; you do not have to smear your fingers on a glass plate in search of some poorly designed menues and settings.

These old xjs are the funnest suvs to drive. Just a pleasure. Reliable, low end torque, compact yet tons of room surprisingly, easy to park, nimble just a blast. You would have no idea unless you drive one. I have 3 vehicles and by far drive my 2000 xj the most. They're just honest good 4x4s and the attention they get is just stupid. People love them
