@@noodles9345 how are you liking the N so far? And did you have the gt2? If so, is the Bose sound system better than the Harmon kardon in the Forte
@noodles93455 ай бұрын
@btchidz I like the N a lot. Better in many categories. There are some negatives when compared to the Forte but they are minor for me. Like losing out on ventilated seats, no rear AC vents, no rear cupholders, manual adjust seats, no automatic cruise control. Though you do gain steering assist with the lane keep system. Will kinda steer the car for a minute or so with no driver input. Also the Elantra seats are more comfortable for me. Getting in and out isn't hard but it is a bit different. With the lil side panel thing and the bolstered seat. I hit my head a few times in the beginning lol. Yea I had the GT2. I actually feel like the Bose is worse, but not significantly so. I remember when I first bought the Elantra something didn't feel right with the audio system. Maybe I just got used to it since it feels normal now. Also I did notice that the infotainment in the GT started to slow down in just that year that I had it. The Elantra was more responsive from the start and remains that way. But I mostly bought it because I wanted to take something to the track and daily drive it. The track performance is incredible. I've been a few times all on stock everything and haven't had any problems with overheating or leaking/stuff breaking. Probably 6-7 hours of actual driving out there and all good so far.
@btchidz5 ай бұрын
@@noodles9345 I appreciate your response! Yeah I had to ask, because I’ve only really experienced my Forte sound system and I actually like it. I’m definitely not a professional driver and I feel like it would be great to take the N to the track and learn more about driving for sure. The ventilation seats would’ve been nice, since I live in FL, but I’m willing to trade that for the more sportiness and I think better looks.

@@btchidzI had a Forte GT for 3 years and just traded in for an Elantra N back in May. I loooved my Forte GT! But as is natural, I also wanted more power and overall sportiness. I agree with everything the other guy said. All the stuff he mentioned has been my experience too. As far as the audio goes, the GT’s HK sound system is definitely better but not by that much. The Elantra N’s Bose can be improved a lot by tinkering with the settings. I produce music so audio is super important to me, and I’m telling you, you’ll be pretty satisfied still with the Bose. I look forward to you coming back to these comments next year to say you got your N! 🙂

Traded in my 09 accord for this exact spec in 2021 when covid era prices were relatively low, and it has been pretty good so far for the money! Pretty nice interior, zippy, and gets 25/40 mpg city/ hwy in my city. One quirk is that the DCT can get a little jerky off the line and shutter downshifting to a stop. It actually started revving at a light and stalled a few months ago. Tried to take it in for diagnostics but every dealer in the city wouldn’t have loaners and were backed up by a month at LEAST. The problem randomly stopped when pulled over and “rebooted” the car but I will def be looking into toyota or something else next.

The Mazda 3 Turbo was awesome and I had a 2006 manual Mazda 3 at the time but the new one was just too pricey. The Forte GT had almost all the bells and whistles of the other cars for a fantastic price with a superior warranty. Not to mention, the Kia salesman was the only one who treated me like a human. I had the Forte GT for 3 years until I recently traded it in and got a Hyundai Elantra N. Kia was the last dealership I wanted to go to because I disliked them at the time, but I opened my mind and found the most amazing little car. I LOVED that thing. For what it's worth: There's a family in my area that owns a Honda specialty shop and a Toyota specialty shop (separate locations). I use them them on occasion when I don't have the time to DIY on our Acura and Lexus. They recently started servicing Kia and Hyundai products. I asked them (one of the owners) about it last time I was there, and their response was this (paraphrased somewhat): most of their Honda and Toyota work is maintenance and minor repairs. Those keep the light on, but don't cover the big things (new AC unit, lifts, etc.). They said with more and more Kia/Hyundai's on the road, and the issues they're seeing with them, it only makes sense. They hired a Kia trained mechanic, and he told them that what they're producing now won't age well. I kinda laughed and said I hadn't planned on owning wither, and he replied with "smart move". He said the Kia mechanic vows he'll never own one. Also, I asked if they have considered adding Mazda to their list, and he said they're too reliable to make it worth their time given their low market share in our area.

This combo started in 2017 with the Elantra Sport (basically the same under the skin) and they are very good cars for the most part. That dual clutch is not really a performance transmission at heart (it's definitely no DSG) and having been in the community since 2017 I can say that the DCT has the most warranty claims. I would give it more time than normal to warm up and in-between gear changes. Try to avoid rapid stop-and-go. If you're still having issues, after that, I'd consider getting it looked at. I would’ve loved to get one if it wasn’t for reliability concerns on these DCTs. Have you seen what they had to deal with on Car Confections? Transmission replacement after 30 miles? Damn……… that’s unfortunate. I ended up getting a Corolla Cross instead. I’m sure this Forte GT is great, but my parents only let me buy a car and not lease one, so I need something that will last

I had my Forte GT for 3 years before trading it in. Not a single issue. Traded in because I wanted something faster
@MishtahPoog5 ай бұрын
@@Symphoniics How many miles did you have on it? Three years really isn't very long to own a car if you're trying to assess long-term reliability, in my opinion. Mid-term reliability is around 60-90k miles; long-term is 100-200k miles; very long-term is 300-500k+ miles (IMO). There are a ton of cars that are awesome to own until about 60-90k miles, then they start falling apart.
@Symphoniics5 ай бұрын
@@MishtahPoog It had 30k miles. I am definitely not assessing long-term reliability tho. It’s that people commonly say Kias fall apart straight off the lot. I’m here to report that it’s quite the opposite. 3 years and not a single issue, not a rattle or creak, infotainment still lightning fast, etc. As a car enthusiast, I don’t keep a car more than 10 years or 100k miles anyway. And honestly a lot of people switch cars within 5 years anyway. All that said, Kia/Hyundai long-term reliability is far better than you think. There’s a lot of confirmation bias. Every time someone sees ONE Kia issue, they generalize and apply it to all others. But when Toyota has several GR Corollas catching on fire on the highway, people leap to make excuses or dismiss it as an anomaly.

@@Symphoniics Right -- I understand. Hyundai and Kia have had their fair share or major maintenance problems over the years, but I agree they tend to get too bad of a reputation.

This car is really good just don't like the DCT. Feel like it can cause issues later on. Other than that this car is an amazing value, sad that people may overlook this just because it is a Kia. Kia has come a long way.

It is not comfortable, not because of stiffness, the civic si is stiff too, but the kia chassis is cheap quality and ride is jarring. Road noise is high too. This Forte doesnt ride on the new gen Elantra chassis which got better.

did hyundai fix their issues with their exhaust intake? had them cracking from heat from the turbo and exhaust temp's overall due to poor materials. expensive stuff since the turbo and the exhaust manifold are one part.
