Coming from a non metal head.. I just listened to this song for the past hour from so many different vocalists, I havent seen so much hate for the vocalist on any but this one. But personally every other one sounded good, but sounded like every other generic metal voice Ive heard. There was nothing that stuck out or really sounded good to me. At around the 3:30 mark he voice sounded so insane I had to rewind multiple times. He sounded like a depraved demon releasing such anger and sadness. I cant explain it but this version is my favorite. It sounded so different but amazing. If the mic volume was lowered a but Im guessing many would complain less, it was a bit overpowering over the other instruments

Well thing is, we metalheads are more used to this vocal style and we've learned to differentiate the vocalists. There are generic ones who are very close to one another, but no Mayhem vocalist ever was, they're all easily differentiable. Dead was the grimmest and most legendary, Maniac was the craziest onstage and maybe the most "original" sounding but the least technically skilled, and Attila is the most melodic, technical and versatile. As a Mayhem fan, I have two problems with Maniac: his enunciation is all over the place (sometimes you have absolutely no idea what he's singing about and just hear RAAAAH RAAAAH), and due to his bad technique and general abuses he lost his voice quite long ago.

How to put it... Atmospheric maybe? Not as savage and brutal but more demonic? I can't put words to it, but Attila definitely brings a great experience forward and is worthy of being a member of this great band.
