I actually like the borders on this deck. Somehow they feel like a Polaroid. I think that it works with the idea that the cards represent snapshots of an Herbcrafter's life. The numerical setup was how Joanna did the Gaian Tarot as well. Actually that deck helped me grasp tarot numerology.

I was so excited to see this, I am not a little envious that you have your hands on this deck already. I talked about the issue of having only 78 cards in a deck and how it limits plant associations for working with herbs and tarot together (and a way to work around it). I added all of these herbal correspondences to my tarot flashcards as I watched. :) Love that Dandelion is the Fool! You're a woman after my own heart, I had a rant in my live chat yesterday about people calling them weeds. That Lovers card! OMG! I adore it so much. I've not heard of Usnea in my studies either but it looks a lot like the lichen that grows all over the trees in the Scottish Highlands. This is the plant based tarot I have longed for, I really like the layering of information and meanings built into this deck. So wonderful!

thank you for your review, I agree with your comments about the deck being aimed at women and the creators of the deck obviously not feeling they need to think about men who would be interested in using it, as you say it's disappointing.

Agreed, it's too bad because I think it is an area that is so open to cunning folk, as they say, of any gender. I am sure that this is their way of honoring their history, which I think is completely fair. I do think the cards themselves are quite neutral and would work well regardless!

Just an FYI Boline Is a wiccan sickle shaped knife used in herb harvesting , cutting , carving etc. It is a physical working tool in magick.

It really is my only disappointment in this deck (and maybe not having a listing of the herbs somewhere with the tarot correspondence if I’m looking for a specific herb but I just wrote them in the front and the back).

Isn’t it curious how each of us responds to decks? I was delighted to see that this one was created to honor the legacy of female herbcrafters; didn’t bother me in the slightest that males were absent. I read with a base of numbers + the energy of the suit, and then layer in some RWS as I go if it helps in the reading, but my core reading is meaning of the number + energy of the suit through the lens of the question, so I found this reads really well for me and then I can layer in the plant energy on top of that base!

Hija is actually pronounced (E-Ha) you don't pronounce the H sound and J make an H sound. Madre is pronounced (Ma-D-Reh) or (Ma-Dray) but you said that one alright. In case you were still wondering.
