Could you please make a video going more in depth for the strumming while fingerpicking parts? Im quite confused

Thank you so much for this! Last June, my wife walked down the aisle to this song on guitar played by a friend and I was hoping to learn it on the uke by our anniversary, and you've made that possible. The ease with which you teach gives me confidence and your techniques are readily approachable. I don't pretend to have your skill, but thanks to you my wife enjoys listening to me play and she even sings along! I'm so excited to get started making progress on this song! Thank you again!

I just wanted to say that you're a great guy and thank you so much for getting me back into playing the ukulele! I started playing in the 3rd grade when our teacher gave us the opportunity to buy ourselves a ukulele and he would teach us how to play. I really enjoyed it, but after not being in the same class years after, I got bored and stopped playing it. 5 years later, I came across a few of your videos and you motivated me to pick my ukulele back up and play again! I feel so at peace when I'm playing it, and I'm so thankful for you teaching us all of these awesome songs! THANKS AGAIN, I love you, you da real MVP!

Hold the D chord and move your ring finger/add your pinky finger to be on the correct fret for the plucking he described but keep the first two fingers in place. Then just first practice strumming down for each of these notes. So technically he is just strumming the chord but he his just changing one note in the chord (the second string to be the plucking notes) and changing the speed and rhythm of his strumming to sound like he is plucking. Does this make sense?

Can you please explain EXACTLY what finger or thumb is strumming and which finger is picking on the D chord in the verse? And what parts are happening on the downstroke and what on the upstroke? Are you strumming with your thumb on the downstroke and then hitting the single note on the upstroke with your index finger, but also strumming with your thumb as part of the upstroke? Just not enough information on that very difficult part. Thank you!

Exactly

And is the fingerpicking in that part out of sync with the strumming? I'm trying to play downstroke chord, upstroke pick the string using my index finger but I don't know if that's right or if my ring finger and pinkie need to be plucking notes independently while my index finger strums at a different pace.
