I am thrilled to hear this story!! I have wondered for a long time about Barbara Mandrell and her sisters. I'm not sure why but she had a huge impact on me. I'm so happy that she's doing well. Such a beautiful talented lady. I’m her age and had a bad car accident caused by a drunk driver too. I still have chronic pain. I wonder if she still suffers from her injuries as well ? Please DONT DRINK AND DRIVE and PUT YOUR CELL PHONES AWAY

I remember 9/11/1984. It was a Tuesday evening. A friend and I traveling on Gallatin Road when we came upon the accident right after it happened. I remember the Jag specifically. On arrival at the club, we were told Barbara Mandrell was seriously injured. The road in that spot is straight and it was dry. The speed limit, I believe at the time was 45. That week of the accident was significant in Nashville for country music. Willie Nelson was playing at the fairgrounds, Ronald Reagan was in town and wished Roy Acuff a happy birthday at the Grand Ole Opry. Ernest Tubb was buried at Hermitage Memorial, Bill Monroe also celebrated a birthday. I miss the old Nashville.
