That XT is a museum piece. It's great to see it go out to the collector community.

Nice to see all that empty space! Huge computers like that sure do take up a lot of real estate.

It's great to see them go because they free up a lot of space in the shed. Things there look better and better!

Worth more than scrap? Often, yes. How much more really depends on what the machine is and what condition it's in.

Yes exactly Bob! Scrap is such a low value, and it takes time to dismantle - so it's not a hard figure to beat!

$200 is a fair price. I think I might would have been happier if you didn't look inside. Cheers Graham

The 300GL - the floppy, slot-1 CPU, and the sound card are probably good for a few $$$ assuming they work.

First one in a Slot 1 Pentium 2 and there's a sound card there, probably not a good sound card but good deal for 20 on the cpu alone. Second one is a XT worth a couple hundred probably (easy) they are the most rare PC you can get for a collector. Third one with the linux sticker on it likes like a socket 370 slotket on a slot 1 board, good sound blaster with a tnt2 (it's a 150 dollar machine no worries, or steve gets a good deal at 60 :)). 4th one ibm.. who cares :p. Third one is my favourite of the day

Clone XT's aren't that uncommon, but a genuine IBM PC/XT (the 5160) in working condition is worth good money for sure. I was tempted to make an offer on the ISA bus Soundblaster if Steve hadn't put his hand up for it :-)

@@tassiebob They show up less than one in 200 machines at ewaste, makes it very uncommon in my experience. I don't have one in my very extensive collection. Well I do have a Lazer XT but that's a bit different thing.

An XT is an 8086 processor that came before the 286. They were pretty useless other than for business use with their MS DOS software. Nice old hard drives in it though even though they are also largely useless other than for collectors. I tossed many of them in the irony ally back in the 90s

My first PC was an XT, so I have a bit of a soft spot for them. I ran a BBS on it back in the day. Useful in 2024 - no way - but if you're after a trip down memory lane then they're fun to play with.

@@tassiebob Its good someone is restoring them, but I have no fond memories of them. I just wish I kept the Commodore XT I had until now instead of giving it and my Amiga 1000 away in the early 2000s.

@@stephenw2992 I too had machines in my late teens and early 20's that I wish I still had - a TRS 80, an Amiga 1000, an Osborne Executive, a Unitron 2200 (Apple 2 clone), my old XT clone, my old AT clone, my old 384, 486, the RS/6000. ...and machines I could have acquired for free but didn't (PDP11's and a Data General something or other).

Interesting information guys! I wasn't into computers so much in the early days, but it's nice to hear what was around. As for my wishes - I should have kept my HT Holden 253.. 🙄
