I don’t often comment but wanted to say how truly lovely your relationship with James is , a few years ago we saw James in the car park of Morrisons and he admired our motorbike, I didn’t say hello as I wasn’t sure it was him , anyway since then my partner and I were hit by a car changing lanes without looking while on the bike , thankfully my partner was okay i but I’ve sustained life changing injuries. Since the accident my parter has been truly amazing taking care of me and watching you and James work together it made me want to say how very blessed we are ❤

Wendy, I have been watching you for a long time and I just love how your studio keeps evolving as you evolve. As we shift and change through life’s seasons, our space becomes a place of reflection. It’s reminded me that I too can evolve and change as my life changes, my artwork should evolve too, instead of becoming stagnant. I love your gentle reminder that it’s ok to not be ok sometimes. Our light shines through, always. 🩷

I think we all put too much pressure on ourselves to "be creative". Just take some materials that appeal to you and give yourself permission to play. This is just for you, not the judgment of others, so it doesn't matter what the end product looks like as long as you enjoy the process. As a friend of mine says, "it's just art supplies". Hugs to you. You can do this.

Hi. Wendy. I am a great fan of seasonal decluttering! I clear out different rooms in my home at New Year, at Easter and before Winter. I give loads of books and clothes to charity. I have only a few ornaments...a,little blue jug from Grandfather's house. A little Buddha my late husband gave me. A beautiful marble couple embracing which a friend gave me while I was deeply bereaved. My only clutter is my dining table which is my art studio...now that I am teaching myself to paint. You are such an inspiration to me! Painting is very, very healing.....It is now my Passion. ❤❤🎉🎉🎉

I love their relationship. There is affection and James just steps in, comes up with ideas and uses his skills. They obviously love each other and that can be rare in the modern world, Also, I really like the blank wall. I did art in an apartment where to my left I had a sliding glass door to a balcony where I had bird feeders and hummingbird feeders. I would pause in my work and gaze out the door and watch the birds come and go. It recharged me. Having floor space helps open the mind to life. It is part of the journey.

The Cardboard King strikes again! James is a lovely and loving partner. It does seem like you and I are on the same wavelength - I am just going through the same process! My studio is the entire living space of the fairly large "cabin" that I live in (it used to be a community hall for a very small community) and it was time to reorganize things to make it feel more spacious and less cluttered, and by some magic it now feels about 3 times as large! I, too, did a no-spend transformation, and got rid of some furniture, condensed a few things to make it all work better, and moved things around for better flow. Like you, I need to SEE the materials I have and not hide them away. The process has been fun and creative, and inspiring! Happy playing in your studio!

I finally was diagnosed in my late 50’s, after figuring it out myself from exhaustive online research. I scheduled an appointment, told the doctor, got tested and confirmed my diagnosis. I hope you see this and look into it. Many hugs to you 🤗😁🤗

Inspiring the spring clean and moving of things. When I get back from visiting family I will crack on in my own spring clean. Got an old armchair that needs throwing out and will clear up well needed space and create a better flow. I work from home as no studio space in Lincoln. I do prefer everything out to function, apparently I am a Butterfly, but alas don’t have the space to do that. But maybe once I go through stuff I will find more space to move things. Definitely agree best not to do everything at once, as creates overwhelm, and I have got a lot to go through. Wonderful to see you both you and James working together, what a team you make. Greetings Wendy and James, I just have to say I love hard work , I could watch You both all day hahahhaha . Fun to see the Cardboard King back in town . Only 10 mins in and had to comment Happy Equinox to You both ! As I watch this,I so agree with You about Reality ,eating my Toast and Hot Punkin soup, I am in chaos as we had a couple of Skylights replaced, had packed up a lot of the lounge and moved things out into other rooms of the house, the builders only just finised a week ago and have been slowly put things back , but in a totally new way, My Darling has a massive Vinyl collection and 3 turntables in the lounge so he moved it to another wall, which meant His Painting would need to shift about, etc, and I have been removing the Dust Dinos from the Library , changing the Altars, a some things will not go back as it is feeling so much bigger...for now hahahhaa . We thought it was time to shift the Energies as some things had been in same place for nearly 20 years. It still needs ,more sorting , with the occasional potter in the Garden to ground and recharge . You are inspirational and giving me ideas . My Darling also loves a good cardboard box but I am not showing Him this heehee ..thanks for sharing Your Reality as it feels "normal" to me xxxx from new Zealand xxx PS just watched the whole vlog and WOW it looks and feels so fabulous , well done , feels so much bigger , I bet You will notice the shift xx

I like to say I’m minimal-ish, the only thing I have an any amount of is art supplies. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia a couple of years ago and I’m really stiff in the mornings, then by the time things loosen up I’m too tired, very frustrating. Minimalism massively helped my ability to cope, less stuff, less energy needed to manage things. What you said about thinking time is so true, esp with Fibro fog. My art studio clear out has taken 3 months. Often because my autistic brain doesn’t like change so I need to find time to ‘try things on’ before I commit. I’m currently contemplating painting my studio black, sounds crazy but my art room is so bright that it is and instant migraine even with sunglasses on! I was hoping the black would stop the light bouncing around and give me a sensory cozy feel.

Your space is looking great Wendy. I think with all creative pursuits we embrace, we go through that initial need to try a bit of everything. In photography that might mean buying lots of different lenses and trying different subjects and styles until we hit on that magic thing that sings to us and then we start to pare away all the excess bits that we've collected and try to find that creative essence without all the extra clutter. I've been through that with photography and I'm now on that journey with my art. I've discovered that some materials cause sensory issues for me, either through smell or texture. So oil paints and sticky oil pastels are now out for me, but I've discovered watercolor and gouache and drawing with calligraphy pens and so many other things that I do enjoy, that the loss of a few mediums won't hold me back. Sometimes I find too many choices overwhelming anyway. I can't decide what medium to use so I end up using none of them. Less is definitely better and I can't wait to get to the stage where I know my favorite mediums and can start weeding out my excess supplies and curating my space into zones and happy spaces like yours.

Love the clear space you created Wendy. I think it does make a massive difference when you create some clear space. I recently did a reschuffle in my bedroom because I was a bit over the set up, yet have very limited configuration ability because of the window location as well as access to WIR plus Ensuite. Effecitvely I have 3 doors and two windows in the room, and only one wall that can house the width of a bed and bedside tables. Anyhooo, I took the mirror off the back of my dressing table, which has basically been set up like that in my room for 18 years (current and previous home), then relocated the chest of drawers to my WIR (because there was space across one wall, I just needed to do some clearing out 😁) and now I have a small writing desk in my room near the window (moved from anothr room), which is hugely important to me because I love journalling. It is my "Zen" zone now and really gives me an element of serenity. I did purchase a small shelf, because I wanted some display and book storage near my desk, but I didn't want it to be too invasive to the space. Like you, I wanted some "clear wall" space. For now, what I have created is just perfect. Amazing what a reshuffle of furniture can do and how much of a difference it makes to the way you feel in the space you are using. I even feel super privileged, because I have created a dressing room in my WIR (because it's so large) and I don't have to share the space with anyone. Having the drawers in there for all my underwear and t-shirts has aided that. I even bought a small little rug to place in the centre of the floor which says "hello beautiful". Just to break up the dark carpet color. It's awesome and love it. I love the clear space and organisation you have created in your studio. It looks very refreshed. Very good idea to have the different zones to spend time in. Also loved the "James feature" on the video. He is a true whiz (King) with the cardboard. Such an asset for your Shop storage. Be well 🌻🪴🌺🌱❤💫

Oh, Wendy! Thank you so much for this reset video! I needed to see the chaos and to hear you affirm what really resonates for me -- I am not a minimalist... I have been accused of being a maximalist! I am not, but I do need or want my stuff out, accessible, and looking creative and inspiring. I have a lot of supplies, several shelves and cubbies, lots of plant babies, and lovely little objects that I find beautiful and useful which come into my space for a time, then get donated or gifted when they are ready to move on. I also collect jars, containers, baskets, bottles, etc. It's a thing. We are packing, because we are losing our little cottage beneath the willow tree. The owners want to sell, and we have decided it's not wise to buy right now. This house has been my haven for nearly ten years, and dismantling and preparing to go out into the world to find and create a new haven is both exciting and anxious-making. I have been tackling the packing room by room and making frequent trips to donate shops. It's unsettling. But I am doing it. As always, your kindred magical and artistic energy -- and this video in particular -- helps me to keep going! Thank you, thank you, for being who you are in the world, and sharing yourself with people like me!

I want to comment on a couple of things. James. Wow, what a sweetheart! I think we all want a man like him in our lives. Such a blessing! The Makeover - love it! My favorite thing to do when I'm struggling with creativity is to makeover my space. It's amazing how moving things around can spark new ideas! I love your studio space. I love watching your videos. So inspiring!

Such a lovely inspiring art room.. love the daybed… and the blank wall juxtaposed to the rest of the supplies, etc. office space is quite nice and simple yet efficient use of all there… the mirror and plants are a healthy vibe as well as James’ efficient design of storing and you are such a delight.. Aloha from Hawaii

You too could have a show called "art studios' makeover", where you would go to other artists' studios and change and decorate and etc. It would be so much fun! 😊

I LOVE the new arrangement!! Indeed, lots of resting space to allow the new ideas to come in!! Amazing how just a little shifting makes such a difference and it looks like it will work way better, too!! Having ALL the supplies at one end is bound to flourish your creativity!!! Enjoy, I can't wait to see what comes of it all!!!❤

Looks Great Lovely . Gives off great new Creative vibes for you . 😊 I’ve finally got in and Totally Decluttered our house as I was feeling blocked creatively by all the clutter around me & then I gave our Temple Fu Guard Statue Dogs at our front & New Beachy BoHo vibe done in Acrylic Art Mediums . Which helped me to reignite the creative flow within me again 🖌️🎨😃

I love this video. You give me inspiration to get on with what I need to do. I have depression and fibromyalgia and I spend the energy I have digging out art supplies then I don't have a lot of energy to actually create. So I think I will get my art supplies out like you did so I can use my energy for creating. He's so nice to help you. Hope yall have a great week.😊

Great video as always. You’ve been keeping me company as I finish hand sewing binding on a bag kit from six plus years ago. It was one of my many impulse buys at a show where the embroidery and patchwork combination tugged my heart. After many puzzling hours it’s nearly complete. It has been tweaked somewhat though. Plant babies. I have both the lily and spider plant/s, just potted some rooted babies and put another batch in water to root. The lily needs some talc as does an aloe Vera. She’s way too big for her current pot. I love what you’ve done and it makes complete sense to me. I wish you many hours of creation, enjoyment and peace. Best wishes to you both. James you’re a priceless diamond ❤

One of my favorite quotes by William Morris... “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful. “ Something I aspire to, but have yet to manage. 😉 It’s a work in progress for sure.

lol 😂 I’m doing the same here in Western Australia…. Our brains do seem to work in a very similar way Wendy 😆 even though it’s not spring….I’m getting it done before the rain comes. Now I’m off to move more shelves after a well earned rest…. Thanks for keeping me company & providing inspiration… I love your new space it’s perfect…. Wish me luck 🍀 (wish I had a James) 💫 💝 Much love to you both

You always make me feel wonderfully seen and not alone. I am a “shifter” and “mover” of things as well. I grew up that way and am still that way at 53. James is so good to you. You make a great team.
