I find this impressive, fascinating, creative, and so enjoyable to watch someone who's damn good at what they do. I do renovations as well, not treehouses, yet nice projects and completely appreciate the planning, materials, execution and craftsmanship to do this build. Very well done! Kudos

Hey Ethan, I'm a builder here in california and have done a wide range of very high end work. I have never posted on a video ever! I ran across this when I was doing some research to build my own tree house and I have to tell you, I'm very impressed and everyone who watches this should be impressed. You guys are some very talented dudes and congrats on a job very well done! Very impressive !!!! Hope you get this post.

Your videos are absolutely amazing! What an inspiration! I've wanted to build a treehouse for a really long time (I already have a smaller one from when I was younger), and this video really helped me get a better idea of how to build it, since building a bigger treehouse is a lot more work and takes a lot more planning out than a smaller one. Thanks for sharing!

When I was 12, me and 2 friends made a tree house about half the size of this one, fifty feet up in this big old tree. It had a roof, a balcony, and two glass windows that we were given by a man who was putting in new ones. It had a trapdoor and rope ladder but we made a winch to pull us up with. We had one hammer, two saws and a chisel. We got nails from a man on a building site, at first he gave us bent ones, but later gave us a giant bag of new six inch nails. We worked out how to do it as we went along and never asked an adult for help. We had great times playing in it.

I went through some of the comments and didn't see this. So I want to add that besides the beautiful tree house, you guys did an amazing job on the video editing. I love the back and forth between time lapse and normal speed. The soundtrack is also on point. It probably took you just as long to build the video as it took you to build the tree house. :)

The house is fantastic, I suppose it's too expensive. But, the space between the tree and the floor and roof must be closed somehow. Otherwise, might be happen that some reptile or something else enter inside. May be you could do that by means some spring around the tree and some elastic material.
@TheUninator8 жыл бұрын
+che14061928 It's not shown in the video, but we did fill that gap to keep squirrels and birds and such out. We made a rope about 4 inches in diameter by braiding 16 strands of 1/2 inch rope together, and we wrapped that around the tree and stuffed it into the gap.

What happens to these structures when the tree/trees grow???
@tuurwevers28199 жыл бұрын
they built it so the house moves with the tree
@garfieldwithissuez9 жыл бұрын
+Voxboy876 same as everything else, they require repair or replacement. That said you use mature trees so more than likely the structure will fail before the tree out grows it. Unless you're an elf in which case you just built Rivendell.
@softspeaker41799 жыл бұрын
well the branches won't grow around the bottom of the trees, where they put the tree house.
@crazyforcookies1019 жыл бұрын
That's why they left some room for the tree to grow. By the time the tree is bigger than the hole the the structure will be old and falling apart.

@lovebunnykaz8 жыл бұрын
+Paul Adriaanse literally the exact question im asking. It is alot of weight!!! imagine when they start putting furniture into it.
@lyndonsein85768 жыл бұрын
+Paul Adriaanse It looks like the roof rafters are secured to the tree trunk with metal anchors and chains and everything looks to be just hanging from that. I personally thought the weight would be a bit too much with all the conventional building materials. I wonder what the dead weight they have and live weight they're expecting.

My thoughts exactly , all those windows and that sliding door and that composite decking is heavy too all held up by chains, scary

The clamp load of a 1/2" grade 8 bolt is a little better than 7 short tons. There looks to be 12 bolts, and they look to be better than 1/2" diameter! I'd be more concerned with the welds.

hi, fun to see in 7 mins, BUT please post how you made the swinging bridge ... The composite and metal tubes I have, but how did you lock the wire in under, just with the notching? and composite boards are pretty slick with frost or snow, any suggestions to upgrade to a different material? thanks... Maybe I'll just do a zip line with a golfcart seating... (lol first saw your work on that treehouse show)
@TheUninator8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the little notches on the metal tubes are slightly smaller than the diameter of the cable, so when the tube is bolted to the plank the cable is clamped tightly in the notch. The bridge would be very slippery in the snow, but the people we built it for won't really ever use it in the winter, so it wasn't really a concern. You could use some rough sawn boards for slightly more traction, or maybe metal grating if you want to go all out, but ultimately any bridge like this will be fairly slippery in the snow and ice.
