Always love your videos. Followed your guide for my raspberry pruning and received 50 fruiting canes as a reward. Many thanks to you for sharing your knowledge, From Oregon City

Excellent video! I have few blueberries in my back yard and I follow recommendations of Mr. Handley regarding pruning, fertilization, mulching.Only important difference is that my blueberries are grown on raised beds elevated some 10 inches (25 cm) above the ground level. The reason for that is clay soil with pH of 7,5.

Ok, I find problems here. Firstly, that is not a bare root plant. They are both potted and rooted in the soil medium. Also, your soil is sandy. In much of the country we are planting in clay or heavy soils. If the crown is set below the grade - even one -quarter inch, death will usually occur on most plants , other than herbacious stemmed plants like tomatoes. Crown rot is a big problem in many areas, so perhaps you should make note that different soil types require different planting methods. We have to plant high and on mounded areas for plants to thrive.

Hello, Great information here, thanks a lot. I watched this after I planted my row of blueberries. What might be a way to go back and acidify the soil after the root systems have been established? Can I dig in peat to the surrounding areas? What is a good method of aerating? Thanks!!

i live in blueberry farm central... you never want the crown soaked. it will kill the plant dead fast. blueberries need very good drainage. wet feet ie roots are a killer for these plants.

Planted too deep ! Won't allow sufficient drainage , plants will rot , if bark is used that's fine , but decomposition will become act like soil and tend to rot base of plants !
