Took my Wset level 3 class in Loire last week. Having watched this series of casts is helping me visualize and add the story to what I’m reading. Many thanks! #stayblessed Cheers TheGrapeYogi

I'm studying for my wine certification and working in downtown Seattle at a wine bar! I bet your not far! Your wine casts have been the single most important internet resource for me. I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate it and how great of a job that you do. I followed you on Instagram and you liked my pizza =). Anyways please don't stop and I won't till I get my masters!

Thank you, and, fair enough, I won't quit 'til you're an MS -- so get moving, I can't do these things forever. ;^) Seriously, though, I'm glad the casts are helpful and good luck on your studies. Cheers! P.S. What wine bar?

Thanks for your time and dedication, this videos are so informative and well prepared. You should do this professionally... you are my favorite unknown teacher!!!

Thanks for the kind comment! I started doing these as much to keep my own core of knowledge up as to inform other people, so I'm always pleasantly surprised (and delighted) when I hear that others get something out of them. Glad they're helpful, and I'll definitely keep them coming!

Thank you so much for this video.Loire Valley is quite diverse and challenging to study. This is very helpful.

Another great video, as someone that doesn't have an extensive knowledge of French wines, the Loire is a bit intimidating. Watching the videos really helps pull all my reading together into a cohesive picture.

Thank you very much for all these lessons! If you have extra time you should add a link with a quiz or test to see if we got it right! But still this is all great!!!!

Really informative, again. I have a '10 coullée de Serrat waiting in my cellar. I have high expectations =). I understood the chenin blanc is like the Riesling concerning its age worthyness

Thank you and thanks as always for watching. I just had a CdS recently, and it was delicious so I suspect you're in for a treat. As far as age-ability goes, Chenin can be very age worthy but, like Riesling, there's a lot out there that isn't meant to age. If you're looking for age worthy bottles, be sure to find out as much as you can about the producer's reputation for producing such wines. Cheers!

The Unknown Winecaster do you have a Vivino profile by any chance?
@TheUnknownWinecaster6 жыл бұрын
I do not. I track my cellar on Cellar Tracker. Hey, that was chiasmus!

Great as always! Let me ask you, are you by any chance, going to make a video about soils and its final influence in the wine? It's a really interesting matter and i can't really find clear info, or i am missing something. Just like you have explained in this one about the chalk soil influencing PH lvls.

Hello and thanks for the compliment. I've been thinking about soil (and more broadly terroir) for a while now. It's a contentious issue, and I'm still sorting out how I want to approach it. The reason you can't find really clear info on it is likely because the issue isn't well understood, with a big problem being that a lot of claims about soil that people have been making for decades don't seem to be holding up under controlled, scientific scrutiny, but there's still a lot of research left to do. I'll do something on this issue one day. I'm just not sure if it'll be sooner rather than later. Cheers!

Wow, ok your answer is actually very clarifying indeed. I've heard many times from several people, all of them giving me an "opinion" rather than a backed up by facts-answer. Makes sense.

Is there any chance you can do a video that sums up both sides of the contentious issue and briefly covers any basic science that exists around why certain grapes grow better on certain soils?

It's Chenin Blanc, not Chenin Blanque. Same goes with every other word ending with a silent letter.
