Expert Sleepers Disting NT - the most powerful Disting yet!!

It's absolutely the most powerful Disting ever, but I also believe it's crossing a line where it's easier to use a laptop to run VCV and the ES-9 to bring it to the case. Or make tiny patches and bring them to the 4MS Meta. Fortunately, modular is a personal journey and we'll all end up somewhere else (which is usually the middle of nowhere for me). Pre-ordered. I seriously have no backbone.

Yeah I can't get with the 4ms module. This is right up my street as a multitimbral modular module type thing. Plus it can sample etc. It's the sh1t in my view! 4ms just looks.... Pointless with vcv etc.

Really good overview of the Disting NT. There's a part of me that wonders whether it might be easier/simpler to use VCVrack, but then you have to drag a laptop around, so I almost see this targeted for people that play out. Also, this seems MUCH easier than the smaller Disting modules.

Check out the 4ms Meta Module if you want vcv modules in the rack, without the laptop 😉

Yep, VCV seems underrated as an audio effects processor! I probably make more effects patches than synth stuff and would love to see some of these algorithms in a VCV module. The closest thing I can think of as a hardware port is the MFX, but that's really buggy in VCV. Or were you thinking of the generative sequencing parts? Either way you have a point, I wouldn't have the guts to perform live with VCV yet. 😉

I can see myself using the NT to make a load of cool poly synth presets. And I love the labs multi sample sets too. I’m mainly happy about how easy it is to use 😅

@@TheUnperson yeah I got it! Where did you get that preset from the guy in Scotland? I don’t have it? If I hadn’t already purchased the Disting, that preset alone would have sold me on it. Last night, I was thinking how cool it would be to have a case full of these. 😂

The Chord Mode in Plaits is so amazingly satisfying to listen to. The *Disting NT* is pretty amazing!

I'm sure I'll be revisiting the NT in future. Disting is for whatever you want it to be for ~ it does hundreds of different things :)

Excellent video, Ally! Looks like a logical next step for the Disting, so I guess I'm going to have to get on board! Do you reckon you'll sell your Disting EX? I'm wondering if the NT renders it obsolete...

Thanks! I can see myself keeping the EX, as I quite often use just 104 HP and it’s handy having a small Disting. If I had a bigger, permanent rack then I’d consider selling it maybe.

Great stuff. Disting NT a bit harder to recommend for me personally, now that the 4ms Meta Module is available at around the same price. Meta has 12 fully assignable knobs for hands on controls, and many more with upcoming fader, knob, button,ins/outs expanders. Also, hundreds of available “modules” including ALL the mutable clones, a bunch of Befaco stuff like Noise Plethora, Percall, and of course, all the the incredible 4ms oscillators, effects, clock generators, envelopes, utilities etc. More vcv developers like Vult will have their awesome percussion and filter modules ported to the MM soon as well. Both Disting and Meta are brilliant though, and you can’t go wrong with either one imo. 😉🔥

As many as the processor can handle. Can easily get 8+ on the go.
