Great video. Let's talk about effects > Nina can actually apply 3 effects simultaneously in series or parallel, using independent levels and up to 3 effects slots. Choose the effect you want (type) and then choose the slot. Keep adding effects in desired 1-2-3 slots, up to 3 effects - Chorus, Delay and Reverb.

Thanks! Ahhh that’s fantastic ~ I had no idea! I’m going to explore this immediately ~ especially the series/parallel thing! Cheers.

Wonderful demo. Was watching it on the ‘big telly’ and that lovely panning sound (including the KOii drums) was bouncing about in the rear surrounds. Epic :)

Let's be honest: if cost and behind-the-panel size weren't an issue, we'd want these KNOBS to be implemented in most synths that use presets. And no, encoders with LED rings around them aren't the same. They don't offer indentations and you always have to look at them to know if you've reached the end of the knob. Great video, Ally, and have fun crafting those presets.

Fully agree. The LED-rings-can-do-this-much-cheaper bros are the new you-can-do-this-cheaper-with-VSTs.

What a rare beast! Every synth should have that morphing feature, although it wouldn't work so well without the expensive motorised control. Here's a budget version if you don't mind using software: VCV has a module called Stoermelder Transit, which can store sets of any parameter you can change, and morph between them over up to 10 seconds. I like to morph effects, and also modulation - for example fading between a slow sine LFO and a faster sample and hold. Not as cool as having this in hardware but it's completely free, so about £4k cheaper and bonkers for sound design 😂
@TheUnperson6 ай бұрын
That sounds incredibly powerful! Is there anything VCV rack can’t do!? 😆

Love my Nina. For me it is kind of the “New Virus” with its unique full sound. I haven’t done the 2 plus layers yet but I haven’t on my TI2 either. I am may get a 2nd Nina for added fun!

It's too expensive where I live, not overly fussed because I bought 3 synths that cost almost as much as one lol. PEAK, UDO S6 module and yet unreleased synth. Still love the NINA, it's one bit of sexy kit for sure, congrats.

Could you please make the patch during "morphing" available on your gumroad? I would love to try it!

A beautiful first demo of a great piece of gear, but layering sounds for epic pads is easily done in-the-box so Nina has to offer me more to empty my wallet. But man I love the form factor and the instant recall of presets thanks to the motors.

It’s definitely too expensive for me to consider, but it is bloody lovely.

I’m not sure actually! I did hear somewhere that they should last significantly longer than any traditional pot.

I feel torn between this an Delia - I wish Delia had 2 or 3 Wavetable Oscillators rather than 2 VA and 1 Wavetable. I wish this has a high pass filter and as many LFOs and envelopes as Delia. This is the perfect synth for multi-timbral - I wish it could do 6 mono timbres and one poly or 4 mono and 2 poly etc. Seems like they haven't made my dream synth yet. I wonder if they could add extra modulation or a digital HPF and more multi-timbral modes to Nina in an update.
@TheUnperson6 ай бұрын
I’ve just got a Delia in for review. I haven’t checked it out yet but I’m very curious to see how it differs from the Nina. I’d definitely love to see a HPF and more effects in Nina. Even an extra lfo that just does vibrato would be nice. I will say that there’s enough going on to get very creative with patches.

Nice sounding instruments but the price is complete bollocks... I mean sure, if you are the keyboard player of a famous pop musician, you can buy one to play around with, but for everyone else... I don't know. Great review though!

Thanks!! I reckon prices will be much more reasonable in future by getting the cost of the motorised technology down. Fingers crossed!
