With a couple of gigs on the horizon I am in the process of figuring out what am I gonna do? It's never easy coming up with a new live set and it's still quite a new experience for me. In this video I am embracing a more experimental approach whilst talking through my thoughts and patches.
Please be generous with your thoughts, praise, and criticisms!

I’d keep the inbetween cinematics and SiFi down to about half as long as you’d expect is a good idea, or even shorter. Just because *live show* and you have some sick dance floor tracks happening here. A quick 15-20 seconds tops between and boom! Back into it would make my night out! I could jam to that on a dance floor all night long and tell everyone how AMAZING it was for weeks after.

Sounds really good. I think you have a good sense of not going too far so your audience looses you. Keeping a flow is important. I like tying sections together either with a beat element or a texture element. Have a great show!

Sounds sick man, wish I was on that side of the pond to see it. And yes you are right, the drone stuff is overdone. IMO you are the current KZbin goat of modular by far because you have beats melodies chords bass lines etc. Colin Benders is obv amazing but I watch way more of your content than his, that says something, even if its just my personal taste. You make it really accessible to enjoy what makes modular great

Thanks for the video, great ideas! A few thoughts, since you asked :) I preferred the data bender and delay transitions to the pitch shifts on fx aid and thought the pitch shift was perhaps more useful to bring a track/idea to full stop and then starting a new track afresh. The space interlude was awesome, and felt directed especially when you played a bit on the OP-1. When dropping back in to the track, I would adjust the the different modules to more dry so as to make the diffenrence more stark and then reintroduce the effects. Best of luck with the shows!

That two note semi tone bass line Gave me vibes of "Trust in Me" the snake song from jungle book cartoon movie. Think it's a flute in the song. A massive delayed sample of snake singing "trust in me" played right before the big transition. Anyways sorry, got carried away there. Sounds awesome man.

Hi unperson, first off all i really like your videos, great stuff. Looked on spotify if you were there and only 1 ep! In your videos ive heard allot more nice songs pass by:) Question: i see your using the behringer power module on the nifty. Is this because the built in powersupply of nifty makes allot of extra noise? Cheers, bouk

My friend, if we were in Glasgow we'd certainly drop by ... to talk inspiration and have fun :) Love this ideas you're having >>> perhaps let this opening fade into a warm bubble like sound bath and let the East Beast come in to introduce us to some psy-fi drones that go into Beads for thrilling reverse effects and modulated pitch shifting 👍🏽

I'm not sure if you're using stock op-1 drum sounds cause I've never messed with one (is it a drum synth or samples or both?) but I will say the drums you got coming out of that thing always sound great to me! I feel like weak drums could ruin a track but your stuff is banging all around with the beats and instrumentation!!
@TheUnperson

Cheers man! It is indeed a drum synth and sampler but I pretty much exclusively make kits and put them on the OP1

Wondering why you don't use MIDI clock to sync your op-1 to your modular? The nifty case has MIDI, seems like a simple solution.
@TheUnperson
@TheUnperson Жыл бұрын
I've never felt any need or desire to sync them up tbh! How would it work with the nifty case? I think it doesn't generate a clock signal so would have to hook it up to a computer?
@brianobush
@brianobush Жыл бұрын
@@TheUnperson Just set your MIDI clock to be out on your op-1 and you can easily pull that clock off from your clock jack (on the right top of your nifty case).
@TheUnperson
@TheUnperson Жыл бұрын
@@brianobush Do you mean to use the audio output on the OP1 as the clock source? I did do that in the past, sending it to the clock input on Pam's. As far as I'm aware neither the OP1 or the nifty case generate a MIDI clock.
