The first time I ever took note of a judicial hearing for an appointment to the Supreme Court was Bork's in 1987. I was 26 and knew something was wrong. History has proved that Chappaquidic Ted led the charge and history has proven that he lied his Irish ass off in criticizing Bork. Four years later Clarence Thomas was nominated to replace Thurgood Marshall, who had died. The Democrats went bat shit crazy. Thurgood Marshall was the first, and up until then, the only Black American to sit on the Supreme Court. He was also an excellent judge and a fine human being. He actually argued the case before the Supreme Court that overturned Separate but Equal, namely, Brown v. Board of Education.. The left actually believed that his seat was reserved for only a Black liberal. The fact that a Republican President was going to fill his seat galled them to no end. The fact that the nominee was a Black man drove them crazy.

It was a woman ultra lib Colorado rep that was going nuts over his nomination. She heard about a rumor of when Anita Hill and Clarence Thomas worked together years before. Anita had to be pushed to the hearing. They both went to Ivy League Universities, so both were highly trained in public speaking by the best in the world. Each had witnesses testifying on their experiences with either Anita or Thomas, saying that they were of the highest integrity. But their were several witnesses who knew them both. Each one of these witnesses testified that it was Anita that was the one with the least honesty and least integrity. Thomas was the one with the highest integrity and honesty. The news media of the day never promoted this analysis of the testimony.
