This has always been one of my favorite stories and games. I wish there was a book series following the lore and maybe filling some gaps. I'm sure the writers had a lot more to tell, even if they already fit a huge amount into the games. Seriously, such an amazing story. And I know they make Felix to look like a bad guy. But I just like to think of these story books as our modern history. Many heroes have done a lot for man kind where we have painted their stories as bad. Just like in weyard it would almost be inevitable to take a person and not be able to see their justifications for their actions. I doubt in that world many people would have really known the whole story of how their world was saved.

The whole Alchemy in its full glory and how the lighthouses were turned off and then the stars being sealed in Vale just blows my mind to this day. The Wise One was there so it sure had to be A LOT of drama plot twists with the rocky troll.

I fail to see how these books make Felix such a villain. Sure at the beginning they do since it's told through Isaac's perspective, but after that, it mentions how he slayed the Great Serpent and saved a village, gave a thrashing to Briggs and then save Isaac at the Jupiter Lighthouse. What a villain. (-_-) Does it cut stuff out, yes but it was just a small little novelty to abridge what happened in the last two games for anyone who didn't play them. Dark Dawn was my first GS game and when I first went through these Sun Saga's, I never got the impression that Felix was a villain.
@MrPSaun4 жыл бұрын
It's because he wasn't. It was always intended that Golden Sun Book I + II were one massive game. If you pay attention, in Book I Issac's goals are made out to be virtuous, but in Book II it comes to light that Felix's goals are prehaps in the right. In either case the world changes drastically. People shit on the Golden Sun games for being wordy, and that's true, but the lore is so good. That moral greyness that the first two games nail, is something to be lauded. P.S. Fuck Dark Dawn. Decent game, but also a letdown.
@joegreen38024 жыл бұрын
@@MrPSaun I'm well aware of that. I was saying that I fail to understand why so many fans think this sun saga makes Felix come off as a bad guy. As for Dark Dawn, after I've played all three Golden Sun games, yes it is a bit of a let down, but I still rather enjoy it.
@MrPSaun4 жыл бұрын

The saga books could be more objective considering the Proxian people had a motive to rekindle the lighthouses. But I guess the game did count on you to try the previous two installments, so they may have avoided spoilers. But it would be nice to have the official Sun Saga to retell everything, even if it might be long, like an additional treasure after beating Dullahan. There was nothing in the middle path when going for the Charon tablet and Dullahan fight and Iris summon; I don't see why not as an extra, final revision of the original Sun Saga to have everything recapped with nothing missing.
@BoydTheMilkmanX9 жыл бұрын
+Derpboy Zero Pretty much because this game likely wasn't intended to be Golden Sun in the first place. It's more likely that Dark Dawn was a project that was scrapped half way, and repurposed to gain sales based off of the Golden Sun fans, which would make sense considering very little in the game actually resembles anything from the original two. The reason for the massive changes in Weyard make little sense, nor do the addition of new Light Houses. I personally don't even consider it cannon.
@isaac30009 жыл бұрын
+BoydTheMilkmanX I disagree. I know it is hard sometimes to accept Dark Dawn, but it was intended as a Golden Sun game, think of it as the Broken Seal without The Lost Age, see? GS1 and GS3 do not make much sense without their sequel. Hopefully GS4 (if it ever happens) will give a proper closure to Dark Dawn, and the Dark Dawn hate will end. As for the Topography changes, the Golden Sun did it. In a Fictional World, with the ultimate power being the Golden Sun, it makes perfectly sense, for this world, that it's ultimate power can do all that to the world, and the Luna Lighthouse, was under the earth, some ruins were above, those ruins did the beastmen choose to rebuild their nation. Why these Ruins never were seen in GS1? Not everything had to be shown. Did Camelot think ahead that time? Maybe, an old man in Garoh talks about Were people outside Osenia...sounds familiar? For me too. And when you play GS4 you have to know DD's plot, so do not loose your hope and trust in DD. I try to trust in it's plot!!
@BoydTheMilkmanX9 жыл бұрын
isaac3002 Golden Sun 1 and 2 both give you a full refresher of what happened in each. You don't need to play either game to fully know what is happening in the other. Dark Dawn on the other hand, you also don't need to have played the previous games because most of what it does is trash the established lore of 1 & 2. In fact it gets rid of pretty much everything from the original game. It's wishful thinking that a fourth game will somehow make all the massive problems in DD just go away. A game shouldn't need a sequel to make it a decent installment in the series.

I cannot belive that have been passed almost 10 years since the last GS. Nostaglia is hitting so hard. Sadness too. It maybe wasn't a perfect saga, but the uniqueness and originality (despite some common themes with other luckier game sagas) made this game amazing and unforgettable.

I know this comment is five years old and you probably don't care anymore, but remember at the end, it wasn't only Isaac who got powers from the Golden Sun, all the other warriors also got powers such as a longer life span and an increase to their psynergy powers, Kraden included. What happened was that a portion of the energy was stored in the Mars Star, therefore the power they got was thanks to it unleashing into them by the Star lighting up, or all the star did was boost the powers they would've gotten, that's what prevented Alex from gaining absolute power

Storybook setting or not there's no reason to absolutely trash Felix in these stories and act like Isaac was some kind of perfect hero or even that he was the leader of the group that saved the world, and relegating Saturos and Menardi to 'strange warriors from the north' and acting like they just appeared out of nowhere is horrible. +Pwrplus5 What? This is just a telling from Isaac's point of view. That's exactly what he and his group thought about Felix until they join forces. And there's no suggestion Isaac was "the leader" of the combined group. He clearly _was_ the leader of the original four. But that didn't really carry over once they joined forces, and it's not portrayed the way here. And there's no suggestion of Isaac being "perfect" either. Obviously, since he was on the wrong side in the beginning. And I don't care _what_ the Mars Clan's goal was; Saturos and Menardi _were_ strange warriors. It escapes me now, but I recall some dialog suggesting they weren't even necessarily working to further the Mars Clan's goals. And even ignoring all that, again, this is told from Isaac's point of view, and that's exactly what they were to his knowledge.
