I appreciate the video! I did skip through a lot, but the info on the type of clothesline you chose and the clothesline tensioner was very helpful!

My Mom bought these stainless steel clothespins (made in Italy) called "Henry Berry & Dairy Extreme Clothespins" and she loves them. She has arthritis and kept opening the wood and plastic clothespins on a skew and ends-up breaking them, but these stainless steel ones really last. Expensive, but worth it.

My clotheslines are monel metal, they might last well over 150 years. I inherited my grandparents property and my grandfather put these clotheslines up in 1946. I have to replace the turnbuckles occasionally, but nothing else.

you for your detailed instruction - it is time for me to update my sagging line. Just wondering if that cotton/poly rope has stretched much since you posted the video.

Good video and thanks for showing how to do the knot. Instead of cutting your rope maybe just run it over and through your next eye hook then down to another tightened and then over to the next one.
@sadiemathison38922 жыл бұрын
Yes, I was wondering why she didn't do that. it would save her $20+ in tensioners.

Awesome. Can I put those metal eye bolts into concrete?
@sagepremoe15652 жыл бұрын
Couldn't I sting the rope through the eye bolts and use only one clothesline tightener at the very end? Do I need to string an individual line from end to end each time (using one line vs 5 shorter one)?
@TheUpNorthHome2 жыл бұрын
I do not believe that would work well. It would be hard to pull it tight. If you try it, let us know how it goes.

Love this video! Hows the cotton/poly sash cord holding up about a year later? Would you recommend anything different? I just put-up some new clothesline posts for my mother and trying to decide the best cord material with traditional look and feel. How are the tensioners holding-up? I considered turnbuckles but they're a little more costly. Thanks!
@TheUpNorthHome2 жыл бұрын
The sash cord is still in perfect condition. The tensioners are all still functioning and doing their job, although I find they whistle or jiggle in the wind.

So here I am thinking I will see how to use two knots to do the clothesline. So why not use two tensioners? The search continues.

What about metal line ?
@TheUpNorthHome2 жыл бұрын
You could use the coated metal line. Just wire without a coating would rust and/or leave marks on your clothes.
