The final look inside The Stags Head in Deane Bolton before the inevitable.
A once thriving taphouse with a vast array of ales and characters now just a derelict carcas awaiting demolition.

I spent all my childhood and young adult hood in this pub. I miss the place, and the people. It use to be loved by so many people. My dad spent everymoment he could here. Wish it was still around for me to remember him by. Thank you for creating this video. Means a lot!

Worked in that place for 2 years whilst at the old Bolton Institute.... The keg room was behind the bar on the ground level - so no basement! A good, old fashioned back street boozer with a ton of characters and decent people. They had a couple of DJ nights each week and the place was absolutely banging... Heavy metal on Wednesday nights and Phil the DJ on THURSDAYS (I think - half of Deane were in that place on those nights! Great video - love the work and great memories

Those pictures are priceleless - people's memories coming to life if they are hopefully still with us now??. Music compliation you chose - right on the pump!!! My father was an alchie from Notts county but died when I was 4 in 1977 only to be bought up by a w..k step-father (a different story altogether), I love old places yet pubs especially because they were always the hub of community yet closing down all the time because of social cleansing/nanny state. So relieved you didn't go up those stairs I had visions of you coming to harm and can't have that as we need you around forever to do of these fantastic journies.

Tha k you very much m8. I really love doing the pubs in fact they are my favourites as I grew up in and around them as a nipper (probs where I get the dodgy hybrid accent) lol but yeah I realised nobody was doing them yet they are one of the most important social gathering grounds we have and since socialisation itself is being attacked by our handlers I figured someone needs to do it ya know. Cheers

@@TheUrbanCollectiveWeFilmIt You totally R*O*C*K‼️your accent is genuine and full of character no matter of hybid speach - means nothing (only that you are unique in your own individual way!) be proud of that - I love hearing a proper northern accent in Surrey it's obsolete and everyone tends to be warble and nonsensical!!!

Sad to see the state of the pub. It was run by my great great great grandfather, John Platt from the 1850’s and then by his wife Mary Ann and daughters Nancy and Mary (Hough) until after 1911 which is when the last publicly available Census was taken. I hope that the building can be preserved / conserved.

Decent boozer, had two rooms. The main room and a smaller one on the front with the pool table in. Remember Monday nights back in the late 80s people came to Deane from all over. The pubs were rammed, good times with good people.

I remember when Graeme used to run/own it. Jo Fearne and her husband/boyfriend managed it. They had a great two day festival in the late 80's early90's with bands on, Lost Boys, Mad Racket, Lieutenant pigeon I seem to recall. I live abroad now and don't miss the place as it is now, but had good memories of then I can see Harry "The Bastard" on one of the band pics and Angie is the red head at the bar and pictured with the some girls and the black guy was into star trek if I remember right...

You missed the fact that there was actually two sets of stairs. The lower basement was underneath the boarded off set and had a very old well underneath. There was also the old tunnel connecting the Stag with the old church across the road. If you want to know more, let me know. I can tell some names of people in the pictures as well if you are interested

Where the bar used to be, to the left through a doorway then slight left again was a stairway down. Stone steps. At the bottom behind the original stairs was a well full of water. I know because I went down there many times. I also saw the blocked tunnel leading to the church down there. Your a good guy matey, I love what you are doing. That pub is somewhere I spent a LOT of time at. Keep doing this and I hope councils and people realise how important your vids and commentary are and pay you to document our history.
