SubhanAllah, beautiful story... I've never heard the story of a Taiwanese revert. And she becomes the director of the Usuli Institute, engaging in serious scholarship and educating people. Very inspired.

People like to use the term revert because we believe all children are born Muslim. When people go back to Islam, they are not changing their religion technically. They are simply going back/reverting to the truth.

I know far to many Muslims who seems to be so in name only. As a revert. I thank Allah every day for guiding me to Islam after having lived a life as a "typical" Caucasian Westerner. I worry about my children as I hope they don't take their Islam for granted, My parents didn't push any religion on me. Aside from my mother taking me to the occasional Sunday School classes, which she could see even at that young age, I couldn't swallow, so she left me be. I studied all major and many minor religions for myself over decades and came to the conclusion that ONLY Islam made sense. I'm thus not sure if "pushing" my children is correct or if I should leave them alone. I decided, mild guidance and letting them see my example was best insha'Allah

Somewhat of convincing to kids would definitely be "something better than nothing".

I am a Caucasian Western who reverted to Islam in 2016. I also got a lot of grief from almost everyone and sadly even my weak so-called Muslim "friends" stopped talking to me when they saw I was SERIOUS about my Islam! And by "serious" I mean, I offered my Salat five times each day, Fasted Ramadan, grew a beard, wore my pants over my ankles, stopped watching and listening to "inappropriate" material, stopped wasting money on the office lottery pool... I would also try to encourage those Muslims that I thought were friends to take their Islam seriously too, but it didn't help them and they stopped talking with me. I found that what the Qur'an tells us about the "APARTHEID israeli" ilk being those of greatest hatred to us was absolutely the case, but next came the chinese, so I understand where Grace Song is coming from. Most of the ones I met, even the expats, worship xi jinpig, just like they worship mao and because they chinese regime is rabidly Islamophobic, they feel they need to be also. I had to break up with my atheist chinese gf as she couldn't stand Islam and also believed EVERY lie against Muslims in the chinese and western media. I am now waiting for the Malaysian government to reopen their Visa programs and intend to make Hijra there with my child(ren) insha'Allah as living with the constant Islamophobia of the satanic/zionist regime of my western country isn't good for my children, although I have built up immunity to it. Insha'Allah Grace and all reverts will be rewarded for our patience.

One thing I wish I understood earlier in my path is that not everyone that calls themselves muslims actually are muslims, read Surat at-tawba && surat al munafiqoon. The hypocrites are clearly described, and it is very important to be aware of them!

What an eloquent and moving description of her journey. Makes those of us who are born Muslim reflect on the shallowness of our lives

May Allah bless you immensely. What an important reminder that born Muslims need to hear. We really need to put more effort in supporting reverts as much as we can.
