Sign Goff and get a DE like Hendrickson and a cornerback. I would much rather worry about signing players after winning a Super Bowl then trying to paying everyone but never winning a Super Bowl. You win Super Bowls with a great defense and a good quarterback. I have been begging Holmes for a defense ever since he got here. Was very disappointed he didn't get one last year.

i dont think its a money thing to be honest. Goff resurrected his entire career and image as a quarterback here and i could see him caring more about winning than being the "Highest paid" at his position. id have to say the devil's in the details as far as securities or guarantees.

I think it's much more concrete than "hoping". I think that there is a very real chance that internally, the Lions actively want to see Hooker go take that job from Goff as soon as he can.

Goff is under contract for next year. If Hooker was taken for a reason (start in 2025), Goff does not need an extension. If not, what a waste of a pick since Holmes gave us Alim McNeill, Iffy Melifonwu, and Kirby Joseph with third round selections. We could have always found a career backup for a reasonable price in free agency instead of the draft capital used for Hooker, unless he is the future QB.

Two words: Hendon Hooker. They didn't trade back up in the third round last year to stash and hope. It doesn't mean they don't like Goff or that they won't ever pay him - but it seems clear to me that they love Hendon and are about winning and the future over any loyalty to any one player.

Hooker is intriguing, but he is an insurance policy. He has zero experience in preseason, let alone the regular season. When you are in a championship window, you don't gamble with the MOST difficult position in professional sports. Goff will get paid, but not Burrow money. If this is not settled by camp, and Hooker lights it up, we're in for a fun preseason.

If hooker is the guy, they trade goff or let him walk. If hooker isnt it, we extend goff or tag him. I’m not an NFL Agent, but it seems sense to me to see how the draft and the Dak situation really develops before Goff signs. Goff owes it to the NFLPA to keep raising his head bar. I would bet this thing is redlined and ready to hit send unless something looney tunes happens. It’s business.

Goff is not a top 5, not even top 10. He’s in the 15-20 range and that don’t equal 50+ mil for a soon to be 30 yr old QB! Hooker is on a rookie deal and we need to pay other younger players such as Hutch soon!!

What an amazing day. Locked up the 2 most important offensive pieces and Holmes is showing that he's not going to let the public pressure make him do something that he knows is not in the team's best interest. Goff is not that important. With this system and offensive pieces very few NFL QBs would fail. We saw it last year with Jake Browning in Cincinnati. Hooker will be just fine and save us a ton of money.

We lame duck goff and let hooker try to win the job and see what he has. If hooker isnt it, we either extend goff or tag him. If hooker is the guy, we trade goff for a haul and stay cheap at qb.
