the bad air quality. Being a Canadian I really appreciate you mentioning all theses fellow Canadians across our country impacted health wise, the lost homes, the wilderness and jobs. It reminds me when the volcano erupted in the 90’s. Hope for the best

Why are there so many fires in Canada?
@gregholl5011
@gregholl5011 Жыл бұрын
@@ilzitek2419I read an article that part of the problem is they are In remote areas hard to access. The boreal forest actually needs fire to regenerate so if you put it out you are actually harming the forest. They don't have the resources to fight all the fires. These are a one of the reasons.
@gabriellakadar

@@gregholl5011 Last time we had a fire season like this was 1989. There's plenty of references from the 1700s and 1800s of various types of smoke because of huge forest fires. This is not a 'new' phenomenon. Just that today humans have been lead to believe that we can somehow control nature. Surprise surprise: we can't.
@patriciadesserud9402

Yup, the smoke has gotten thick and heavy here today. I’m just thankful for all the firefighters and volunteers that are working so long and hard to extinguish them and relieved that so far there has been no loss of life. I live in Ottawa Ontario which puts me much loser to the source and the air quality has been right up there with the worst in the world. When it gets thick you need to wear a mask. At least it doesn’t destroy homes and property like hurricanes and tornados do.

Sure…like she has nothing else to do. Lots of time on her hands. She Cannes for the family and she also cans lots of vegetables for the farm market as well as relish and salsa and spaghetti sauce, and bakes pies and breads. All different kinds makes cookies. Let’s not forget she makes lunch for the family every day and dinner as well. So yeah sure why not let’s put one more thing on her list of to do‘s.

I do want to say something about Kohlrabi, By the way you do pronounce it exactly the way it supposed to be, now I am originally from Germany live in MD I Love Kohlrabi but can never get it here. One more thing in Germany did leave some of the leafs on because we use a couple of the leaves in the dish and also it makes it look nicer when you buy it! We cut it in slices and make a beshamel sauce with it, to die for!! greetings till the next video🙋‍♀️

I grew my first kohlrabi last fall and it was a pleasant surprise. just like you said - like the tender broccoli stalk, but with zing - like a mild radish.. but also kind of crunchy, almost like jicama. Great to snack on and a slightly sweet, mild flavor. I'm definitely going to grow it again. I love how it grows so fast at the end.

One thing about smoke - if it adds enough particulates to the air, water vapor can collect on and come down in the form of rain. I hope this smoke results in nice rain for your crops and clears the air for breathing.

We plant cold crops mid August again in early October then last of November again in February potatoes no later than 14 th of February then again mid August corn is planted commercially by end of February but we have many more weeds and bugs. Especially stink bugs lost 100 tomatoes to them last year just couldn’t control them no matter what I tried

There are over 520 fires right now burning across Canada. That is up over 100 fires from last month. Of that number, close to half of them are burning out of control. While, I am not effected by them personally, ( just the smoke) my heart goes out to those Canadians that are. Thanks goes to all the international firefighters that have come to Canada to help, including the 100 or so that are from our neighbours the USA! Happy 4th of July to you!
