@@devronl08 The reason for taking it down is perfectly valid; the 'end of fascism' or whatever other crap you want to ascribe to the photo isn't reason enough to grab a woman and kiss her and have the image romanticized for generations to come. If we don't want confederate flags and statues flying their freak, neither should an image depicting an act that is definitely sexual assault be romanticized. All the other commentary about the VA having worse problems is just a red herring argument, they don't have those problems because they are taking down a photo and if the photo had stayed up, they'd still have those problems. How petty you are. Sara and Alyssa spoke about commonality with the topic but you chose to criticize one host. Have a seat.

Let's call the objection to this iconic Times Square pic what it is: *toxic woke.*

I seldom agree with these ladies but I was very proud of everything they said in this clip. This photo has its own statue in San Diego and people are constantly taking pics of it. Everyone knows this image. Whoever wrote the memo, I hope they don’t have a job now.

The phrase “Thank you for your service” is so empty coming from any and all gov’t! It’s befuddling why ANYONE joins the military knowing how disgraceful is their treatment from the American government…this applies to my Canadian gov’t too!

What nonsense. In addition, if you know anything about the history of photo journalism, many iconic and important "candid" photographs were actually staged (sometimes soon after the original moment had occurred) by the photographer in order to achieve a more aesthetic image. People have lost their minds!

@@kant.68 It is both irrelevant and disingenuous to imply or project judgement on events in a photo taken in 1945 at a celebration of the preservation of our freedom with our victory in WW2, in which the very existence of our nation was severely challenged and our very survival had been subject to serious doubt over four years. Additionally, the woman and the sailor did not know each other when the photo was taken, but began a years-long friendship following that event.

wow these women finally said something that actually makes sense. and the picture is iconic also we had different sensibilities back then. it's like the veterans administration is doing the bait and switch, it's like they address a non-issue the same like they're doing something to get away from the real issue. Americans need to hold the government accountable. no veteran should have to grovel for health care there shouldn't even be or rather there shouldn't even be a need for organizations like the wounded warrior project, because the government and government contractors like McDonald's Douglas Raytheon and a myriad of other corporations should supply prosthetics and chip in for the medical cost there shouldn't even be medical cost for veterans nothing should ever be itemized on a bill when it comes to their health care that is the least they are owed. they should have the best of the best of the best. they should have counseling they should have medicine medical care physical rehabilitation and a stipend to live off of that you can actually live off of. but how do you justify spending over a billion dollars on a bomber and millions and millions of dollars on smart bombs but you can't take care of a veteran amputee? that is ridiculous when you think about it so all they get is a thank you for your service. That's what you get when you get your legs blown off when you lose an eye you get a thank you and a pat on the back, prostitutes get more than that, and I'm not even being funny. these guys and gals and a lot of situations are actually true heroes to one another and to be ridicued and dogged out by the VA is just unacceptable and cruel. you got to remember that a lot of these young men and women enlisted at 17 and 18 years old right out of high school, and for 3 to 6 years however long they're deployments that's their life that's all they know until they come back out into the real world and if they are injured, this is what they have to look forward to? anyway I usually hate the view, never want to hear anything they have to say they are repungent, they suck. but I actually agree with him this time and thank you the view.
@craigslistreplies34859 ай бұрын
YOU CAN CHEW GUM AND WALK AT THE SAME TIME. Yes the VA has ALOT of issues they need to solve. AND the military needs to create a safe environment for women. That includes female officers NOT being s*xually assaulted AND not allowing images that glamorize non-consensual acts against women to be promoted on govt property. What the sailor did was just as wrong as when the president of the Spanish Soccer Federation kissed a female soccer player on the lips after winning a game, without her consent. No matter how excited a man is, he does not have the right to sexually assault a woman. I dont get how they dont understand this. And I dont care to watch the rest of the clip because they all seem in agreeance to this nonsense.
