Oxy is good at relieving pain though, who would have thought that the chemical cocktail that makes pain go away is something your body would crave... ... ... and yeah mark me in a list of category of people who have taken Oxy due to surgery and not becoming addicted to it.

I have MS and I lost 60lbs after gaining it from a med and then coming off of it- eating gives me neurological pain, I lost so much that I became underweight. I also had the same experience with constant compliments. People knew I was sick but I always got the ‘but at-least you look great’… I was so sick of hearing it that one time at a party, a distant relative asked me ‘what my secret to not eating was’… I flat out said “severe chronic spinal pain, want some? It works like a charm”. The look on her face was priceless though 🤷🏻‍♀️😆

I was diagnosed type 2 diabetic last spring after being pre diabetic for years. My doctor put me on Meformin and also recommended Ozempic to help with my blood sugar/A1C and so far it's been the best decision I've made for myself. All of my numbers have gotten better, my joints don't hurt, I'm learning to eat better, my feet and legs are not swollen from excess fluid, I'm exercising and my overall quality of life is just better. I'm also down 70lbs and will continue to work on myself mentally and physically.

I'm 66 soon to be 67 in a couple of months grandma. I have been overweight most of my life but in 2017 I joined weight watchers lost 45 pounds and have kept it off because I'm intentional about my weight loss journey. I eat balanced meals, cheat every now and then drink water, and ginger tea made from scratch. I stay away from sweets, eating a panera blueberry muffin once in a while, 🤣 I go to the gym 5 days per week and this is how I intended to keep my weight in check.

I can say from my own experience that cutting white sugar specificaly, will take away restless leg syndrome, carpo tunnel, aches and pains etc. I reduced white sugar after finding out I had diabetes. At the same time, I was waiting for surgery for CT in both hands. I had it really bad and it cleared up the CT and so manny health issues. I still had white sugar in very small amounts but what a change it made to my health. My weight never changed oddly enough but, what an improvement in my overall health. I highly revommend the chamge before you put yourself through surgery. The effects of white sugar on our bodies is outrageous. I hope someone else can benefit. I truly do!. I'm losing weight on my own. It's a heart decision. I don't want to be skinny, but I aim to be healthy. I am making better decisions. I cut out the junk and the weight is leaving. I give myself a treat or two per week, and it's working for me. Food is very addictive. In America, we eat for EVERYTHING. I don't like taking pain medicine for a headache. I refuse to take medicine to lose weight. The side effects are so not worth it to me.

Exactly! I do not know why people who take this are that unmindful of what may happen to them in the long run. Like being thin is the only thing that matters at this point..same with drug addicts who are in it for the high without care for their health. If this was like a few decades ago i understand bec people are not in the know but most people nowadays are informed and aware yet they still succumb to this like a kid who cannot control themselves. Insecurity is the main reason and is a disease

My wife was on Ozempic for Type 2 Diabetes and it does work well for that purpose (her A1C was only ~ 6%), plus, she did lose ~ 30 lbs on it- problem is that it was NEVER designed for weight loss and it’s now used so much for that purpose (essentially a side effect) such that actual diabetics can’t get the medication (due to shortages) for their diabetes. The Mrs hasn’t had access to it for months and is using a substitute that doesn’t work nearly as well for her diabetes. If you’re not happy with your weight, lose it the proper way- eat less and exercise more- that’s the safe way to do it.

She can reverse her type 2 completely through low carb/keto/carnivore and fasting. Check out Dr. Jason Fung and Megan Ramos. They have reversed type 2 in 1000s of people using fasting and low carb eating. Megan reversed pre-diabetes, fatty liver, and PCOS in herself, as well. Dr Ken Berry is also a very good resource. She doesn’t need to take meds and she can get her A1C to normal.

Many drugs are never designed specifically to treat something and are often discovered to treat other diseases after being made available to the public. That’s just how medicine works. I understand your personal experience with the shortages but there isn’t any evidence that the reason behind the shortage is because of people trying to use it for weight loss. It appears more likely because of supply chain issues. And weight loss isn’t the same for everyone. Eating healthy and exercising doesn’t work for everyone and many people can’t afford to do that either financially or cuz of their individual circumstances. Obesity and being overweight are legitimate diseases that if treatable must be treated the same as other diseases.

I'm on Ozempic because of diabetes. It is the only drug that has helped me maintain a good sugar level, even keeled. But because of all this vanity, it is terribly difficult to get the prescription filled. I just went two and a half weeks without it (for the second time), and it was extremely frightening. The thing is, there ARE drugs specifically for weight loss (Wegovy, e.g.), but people are asking for, and doctors are prescribing, the drug I need to live. What I sincerely want to know is why aren't diabetics being prescribed a high enough dosage so that they will lose weight? Both my brother and sister are diabetic. A few years ago my brother lost weight, and he no longer needed medications but got right back on it when he gained the weight back. My bro is currently doing Red Mountain Weight loss and is losing weight. My sister is now on Ozempic, but her prescribed amount is so small compared to the dosage of those taking it for weight loss. I feel that this is done on purpose to keep diabetics dependent on the medication so they can never get off of it. I really want to know what others' views are on this as well.

Wow! I have been "obese" for a long time and can also say, ignored by "friends" and crushes like I didn't exist. Recently lost some weight, (not from using this but still) it did change how people treat me. The first thing I noticed was how suddenly helpful and kind people were while shopping and how nice men started talking to me. I felt the same as she said, sad. But also angry. The world has become extremely superficial.

Spoken like someone who's never taken it. So yes, you do need to take it indefinitely , but the proper use of these medications is to incorporate a healthier diet and lifestyle. Also, smart users will follow-up with a doctor and adjust the use as needed, that is, lower the dose or stay off it for periods of time. The goal is not to lose weight per se, but to maintain a healthy weight, which Ozempic can help by breaking the addictive hold that food maintains over our brains. Doing this for aesthetics is the wrong reason to do it. It's obvious that Heather Gay's reason for using Ozempic is 100% for aesthetics, given the amount of plastic surgery and Botox she's had done. She's had so much plastic surgery, she's half silicone and now almost looks like a man. Lastly, you can have GI side effects, most commonly nausea, constipation and diarrhea, but this can be minimized with proper follow-ups and treatment adjustments. The side effects can be severe in 5-10%, but this is usually dose dependent and can be managed. My guess is that in the near future, this class of medications will be shown to have significant cardiovascular (lowering blood pressure and risk of heart attacks) and metabolic protective effects with consequent improvement in life expectancy. Lily has retatrutide in phase 2 trials with 24% body weight loss, which is the highest seen with any of these drugs. Maridebart cafraglutide from Amgen, a GIPR antagonist with GLP-1R agonistic properties is in phase 1 trial with evidence that people can maintain weight loss even after stopping the medication. Innovations keep coming, but the biggest problem with these medications isn't the side effect, but the costs. A generic for Ozempic could be available by 2031.

This is not the solution. Then when these people end up with serious medical conditions they will be crying like they didn’t know and no one ever told them meanwhile all the warning signs and information is right in front of their face. The correlation between your weight and your mental health is so strong. Living in a big body since being a child, takes a toll on a person that a thin (all your life) person will never understand. You’re constantly thinking about how you look, people treat you completely different and your insecurity is through the roof. Then you lose weight and the mental relief you feel is so strong. Fat-phobia is real (in both thin and heavy people due to our society, norms/influence), pretty privilege is real, and people do treat thin people, especially thin women differently than they do bigger bodied people. FACTS. And another person in the comments mentioned food addiction. Food addiction is a real addiction, and needs to be treated as such.

@@thelifeofaria I disagree, people ARE cruel. I've seen it myself how people casually dehumanize, mock and insult bigger people. Ask any bigger person who lost weight how differently they are treated. Humans evolved to live in community. We naturally yearn to be accepted in our societies. I cannot blame others for wanting to be treated with respect. Studies show that bigger people are even discriminated against when it comes to hiring. We cannot pretend that what others think of us does not matter. Also it's not easy to have the self-esteem to still value yourself, when your entire life everyone has treated you horribly. Psychologists will explain that this is why the therapeutic relationship is so important for those with poor self-esteem. They are finally getting a positive experience to use as a foundation to build on. It's dangerous to be obsessed with chasing trendy aesthetics, for sure. But society plays a huge role in why people do not feel comfortable in their own bodies. I hope anyone struggling finds success and peace in putting their health and well-being first.

I'm currently on Ozempic for Type 2 Diabetes, a decision driven by my doctor's advice to also shed some weight. As someone who has struggled with being overweight, cycling through various diets, and experiencing weight fluctuations, I've found the last 90 days on Ozempic enlightening. It has taught me the value of moderation; realizing that I don't need to consume an entire pizza when a slice or two suffices. This isn't to say I've continued eating poorly. In fact, the medication-induced indigestion nudged me towards healthier dietary choices, steering me away from the unhealthy foods I used to consume. Given that Ozempic slows digestion, indulging in low-nutritional value foods is less appealing when I can only eat so much. I now prioritize foods that not only satisfy but are nutritious and beneficial for my body. With my A1C levels consistently improving, I'm hopeful that achieving an A1C below 5.7 will lead my doctor to consider discontinuing Ozempic. My aspiration is that these dietary changes will last a lifetime, allowing me to maintain this healthier version of myself. Losing 20 pounds in 90 days is just the beginning!

I am on Ozempic… with age and injury…I became less active, I put on weight that was stubborn to come off, my younger years I had no problem getting losing weight and staying off, because I was exercise freak. Before starting this med, best advise I received that this med to jump start you for weight loss, but you still need to do the work…exercise and eat cleaner better foods for you, and figure out what triggers you to over eat. I have lost 15lbs and have 15 to go…I am finding my joints already feel better! Which is making me more active…and happy! No Ozempic is not a cure but a tool that can jump start you for a healthier you ( if used right)!

Eating healthy, staying active and genuinely being determined to stay fit while taking this medication is the overall purpose. It is to help those with very high BMI and diabetes to live a longer healthier life. The issue is those who don’t have one or two of the required factors to get the Rx in the first place.

@@mikemondano3624 that's why these medispas are popping up all over the place, with one MD supervising the operation. Cost has come down thx to increased competition, perhaps about $150 to write the prescription, and $500/mo for Ozempic through a Canadian pharmacy, and far less if you're willing to risk a compounded version from a local pharmacy. Just to lose those last 5-10 lbs., doesn't seem worth the risk of digestive tract issues, potentially long-term damage to the intestines/stomach . . . but clearly it works based on some adults I know who were 10-20-25 lbs overweight their entire lives. All of a sudden in 2023 they dropped that extra weight to become a svelte person for the first time ever in their lives. (and every single time, they claim "diet & exercise" -- except that didn't work for the previous 30 years!) Glorification of thinness is gonna be worse than ever as more and more people take Ozempic, either cuz they qualify through insurance, or they're willing to pay for "off label" weight loss. Already raising all of our health insurance premiums cuz Novo Nordisk is charging US consumers $10K/year, and insurers will cover it for BMI 27+ with certain conditions, and anyone with BMI 30+. So even if you're not on it, you're paying for others to be on it.

I'm type 2 diabetic and have been on Ozempic for several years. I haven't necessarily lost weight while on it, but it has helped to manage the sugars and thus, I have less fluctuation in my weight, which in turn, keeps the diabetes controlled. However, I talked to my pharmacist today and was told that they are starting to have some trouble getting their regular supply. So, while I think multi-use medications are a great thing, if I can't get the medication I need to survive, that's a big problem.

Being skinny does not equate happiness, look at all the evil skinny (Mo'Nique quote). Fat people are called jolly for a reason. They do more things that make them happy on the inside trying to find happiness. Weight loss does not equate to happiness on its own. It gives you less health problems caused by obesity but it does not heal your mentality. Losing did not change things for the better and learned from what friends said and what lovers did. The more I lost, the more i had to learn how to heal my mind from the changes i was having to navigate. Its a blessing to know swlf love first. You can gain and lose and be happy despite your environment or social atmosphere.

But, when I visit my parents in Myrtle Beach, SC, USA I walk about 2 1/2 miles and I lost a lot this January, Ontop of that getting home cooked meals. Now, back at home here in CT, I still walk about 1 mile a day. I do take my days off. But, I've seen weight come off, I can tell with my gut, and my face. I also just eat chicken carrots, and a potato every night minus Mondays, since it's Jersey Mikes night, lol I've started to bring my own sugar when I get a coffee in the mornings. I use truvia, I tend to use around 3 packets. I did pick up a coffee at the local Dunkin, and it was far to sweet for me. I don't even get an ice coffee from Dunkin anymore. I have no interest in drinking ice coffee anymore. I have no interest in going into Dunkin, I get my coffee at the local Cumberland farms here in CT. I still want to try this Ozempic.

I have type II diabetes and my A1C was very difficult to control. My weight was 195 - 205 at 5’11” male. This summer I started Mounjaro. As I titrated up each 4 weeks I'm now on 10mg per week. I weigh 152. Was down to 146 and skipped a few days because that's too much loss. What is weird is that not only do I rarely feel hungry but at one point 95% of the food I liked was absolutely disgusting. It was a bit depressing losing the joy of eating something delicious. I was eating ice cream because I still enjoyed it and I needed calories. I do believe you'll gain it back if you stop but because I have diabetes I'll always be on it. No side effects except for food looking disgusting. I want to lower my dose back to 7.5 mg because I want to enjoy more foods. Loving yourself despite your weight is vital but excess fat is dangerous: cancer, joint pain, becoming diabetic, etc… so body positive is good but keeping the extra weight on can take years off your life.

Ozempic is not covered by any health plan for weight loss so be prepared to pay $ 300 Can. for the lowest dose pen that will last for 6 wks of shots ( one shot /week ) . Your dose will need to be increased as you go along and that increases the cost out of pocket . It's not a cheap way to lose weight and it still means you need to watch what you eat . The only thing Ozempic does is make you feel full so you don't eat as much at a meal but that wears off hence the increase in the dose . It caused horrible cramps in the am and constipation and it still does after 6 weeks . I lost about 10 lbs . Not going to bother using it anymore .

I don't care about how I look to others. I want to not feel ill and not get diabetes. My insurance now says they will not pay for it until I go from pre-diabetes to actual diabetes and get sicker instead of preventing diabetes and getting healthier. It is so stressful knowing I am now starving all the time again, my cravings for sugar are back, my brain fog is worse than ever, my self-sabotage is back, and my overall health is declining again. It's a medication designed to help diabetics control their blood sugar and its new status as a fad weight-loss drug is creating shortages for the people that genuinely need it. Additionally, medication is not a first resort for people who just want to lose a few pounds. It has potentially debilitating and fatal side effects and should not be marketed as some kind of miracle drug. The doctors who are prescribing it to anyone who wants to lose a little bit of weight are unnecessarily endangering their patients for money. Lastly, not everyone takes such an extreme libertarian view of society. I and many others care about the well-being of others and the messages sent into society by what's trending in the popular consciousness.

But I was depressed during that time and also because everything felt so superficial. Now that I have gained the weight back (10 years later and mostly because of two pregnancies) there are two different feelings. On one hand I hate my body even more, because I wasn’t able to keep my „good looks“. On the other hand I am happier with my relationships because I know that the people who like me actually like ME (because I think my body is not to like so it must be the rest they like…) I still want to lose weight though… It is a constant fight that no thin person who hasn’t been fat in all their life will never ever be able to unterstand.
