Now before everyone jumps all over me, there are good men out there. I just happen to have never had a relationship with one, outside of my dad and brother. When I went looking, I looked for someone to build a life with, a good companion, a friend, someone with similar values and interests. What I found were men who put on a good act long enough to "hook" me then reveal their true selves once I committed. After that, a man (at least those in my generation) became work. A job I didn't get paid for. The "ball and chain". And I felt like I was there just to make them look good. So I moved on until I had had enough and committed to a single life. Being single means I can put more focus into my career, which meant more promotions and more money. Beyond my career, it means I can live the way I want, spend my money how I want, with no judgement or condemnation, and not have to conform to outdated norms.

It’s sad you had to give a disclaimer before taking up for men and think why did you have to say don’t jump on me it’s because women are expected to bash men but as a real man and married man I respect what you said more than any other woman’s comment god has someone for you don’t give up just because of one bad situation do t end up like these sad old ladies lieing to them selves because them holidays hit different when ure alone your not fooling men don’t end up 60 talking to your pet cat drinking wine alone watching the view these are str8 lies being in a loving marriage that god ordained for you is amazing having unconditional love and support don’t yall believe that being alone is some prize because your not saying that on those cold nights …. Then half of yall still praying for a good man talking bout I love being alone sleeping with multiple people that don’t love me nope not fooling nobody

People are learning to be self-sufficient and enjoy their own company and aren’t interested in codependency. It’s actually healthy. I always think it’s sad when someone doesn’t feel whole without another person. This isn’t the case with all married couples of course, but it is for a lot of them. Plus marriage is kind of an outdated institution; something originally rooted in men wanting women as their subordinates.

lighter topic, thank you. as a single older person who has been married twice before, and now single for 9 years, men have a LOT more to gain. both are expected to come to the table with financial security. but because the female has a VJJ, the man's DNA thinks it's her job to cook, clean, and keep up on the laundry while he watches football game. another HUGE thing that is happening with younger women (30-50) is men are still GAMING. Plus, men of ALL ages think they rate some hot model. I have never said it but I have been so tempted to say: "Dude, do you own a mirror?". Unreal!!! So what's in it for her. Well we know what he likes to give her. Nope, I'm good.

People who are happy with themselves don’t mind being alone (not lonely.) And if you are looking for someone they need to be someone who is compatible and who has their sh*t together, because many don’t want to deal with all the baggage and toxicity that can come into a relationship. Higher relationship standards and financial independence is probably causing most of this trend.

In your opinion, does the person have to be rich to have their stuff together? If a person is making $60K a year and is a nice, easy going person, what would then hold a woman back from being with him? Its just not important anymore. When we HAD to be coupled for survival, it made more sense. Today women don't HAVE to be married for food and shelter. Romance kept the environment civil. It made you wanna keep that person around for as long as possible. What's the point now? Now, its nice to have but not necessary.

Married Male Here with Male Single Friends: The problem here is they are talking from one side of the aisle, this meaning from a female perspective on the easier side of dating. Men have honestly started to check out because of these insane standards men have put on men for things. They want to talk about things from both sides of their mouths. One the one side I am strong and independent feminist who don't need a man and then on the other side I want some one to wrap me up in the Hallmark stuff I see on television. People have to take honestly into account what they are putting out there when it comes to romance. You can't put all the burden on one side and not take some of the blame yourself because I am willing to bet that if some people interviewed some of the exs of some of these folks they know exactly the reason why they are single.

Single, childless women are the happiest demographic. So it's not surprising that they're not looking for romance. They get less out of relationships and much of the time, men are looking for a mother not a partner. And I say that as a man. Not to mention, now they're making enough money that they don't need a man to be financially supported.

I think traditional society trains people to be bad. Like how social media trains you to want instant gratification. Living together, having to daily compromise, was terrible for my marriage. Its strange, but after separating, me and my husband began feeling toward each other like when we were first dating. We weren't butting heads, we had our own space, time together was scheduled and important.

@@volcrazy89It’s “Childfree Women” NOT “Childless Women”. I’m a “Childfree Woman” as I NEVER had children and do NOT want to have any children; had BOTH of my tubes removed to insure I couldn’t and wouldn’t have children. No man was ever going to be a factor in my decision. “Childless Women” are women who had children but lost them due to their passing.

These comments are sad! A bunch of HURT people that need to seek help! As humans, we are wired to be interdependent! Not co-dependent! The feminist movement ruined us! Women in the comments saying they enjoy being single, but are leaving out they are now proud side chicks, mistresses, & sugar mama’s! Smh

Men absolutely do not benefit more. Ezra Kleim talked to a man who studied it in detail. Appealing to women as a man takes more work and construction. Based on polling, you have to have money and provide, cant be bisexual/short/poor etc. Its not to say women dont have struggles to deal with but its not an issue with men as the end all be all.
