Pointing out an obvious and serious degradation of someones health out of concern is not a bad thing and I would certainly want another person to let me know what they’re seeing if it was me. Every time someone dies early everyone’s first thing to do is wonder why nobody noticed what was going on. As an adult and celebrity you should also know that people are going to comment on you. This reminds me of the late, great singer Karen Carpenter. When Karen and Richard were first starting out as a duo in the late 1960s, some nasty reporter wrote an article about them, and he or she commented about "Richard's chunky sister." I believe this started Karen on a downward spiral with her future eating disorders, which led to her untimely death at 32 in 1983. At the time, anorexia nervosa and bulimia were not known about as they are today, and medicine did not know how to treat patients who had them. Karen tried the care from her doctors, but eventually, she went back to endangering her body with laxatives, thyroid-replacement medication, and not eating enough food. This thyroid medication sped up her metabolism, and her weight was around 77 pounds. She complained about being dizzy and her heart rate felt too irregular. As a result, Karen destroyed her heart muscle from years of abuse, and she died in her home from cardiac arrest. Finally, words matter, and people must be more careful what they say or write because they can have eternal lasting detrimental effects for years afterward.

I remember being a kid and asking my mom why she looked so frail and sickly. My mom explained to me that she had an illness. I felt so sad about that, I remember. RIP Karen Carpenter. 💖 🙏

I wrote a paper about Anorexia for school in the late 70s, and my mom counseled girls who were hospitalized for it. I think many people were aware of it by the time Karen Carpenter died. It was very sad. I think expressing concern about someone being too thin is okay and Arianna is MUCH thinner than she was in the late 2000s. The before and after photos from 2008 to now are almost like looking at 2 different people.

Saying"You look great, did you lose weight?} is a backhanded compliment. If you want to compliment on the way someone looks, just say you look nice. You don't need to add any comment about their weight. What if they haven't lost weight. I always say turn it around and would you say it then. So would you say 'You look like you gained weight?" No, unless you are the rudest person on earth. I find people who comment on your weight negatively or in what they think is a positive way, feel they have a right to say it and they don't. Your weight does not concern them. People just need to mind their own business. PERIOD!
@fallenskybirdАй бұрын
I don't agree ---- people should tell it like it is instead of being fake. If that's what's on your mind when you meet someone, there's a reason for it. Weight gain is usually about not taking care of yourself and a real friend will address it instead of pretending by talking about something else. No period.
@catkin-z8gАй бұрын
Complimenting someone on the way they look can still make others feel bad who are not receiving compliments or if the compliments stop coming. If someone is being bullied and they see another being complimented then the compliments could increase the polarity. If they get used to constant praise they could find negative comments more difficult than if they had been used to a more neutral experience. I think it can be just as dangerous if not more so. What they say isn't so important as what you say to yourself. How you respond rather than react.

This might include isolating from outside perspectives that might see something that you don't see or might confirm what you are seeing. They might convince you you can't trust your family and friends and the people you think care about you. In another video she talks about narcissistic families so the family and friends aren''t guaranteed to let her know anything. Even the best friends and family t know everything. That is why there is books and other options and you have to discern for yourself. One thing I could say is the people inventing such words as Para-social and PTSD are not her family.

So, yes, 10lbs (from stress, food allergies, etc.) of a loss on a 5ft body is very noticeable. Sadly, it's the other way around too. I have been trying to gain weight and went up 5lbs from my usual, and I got people saying I looked "chubby, in a good way!". People are weird and feel too comfortable saying stuff.

I was never really bullied for my weight (it was a factor but not a target), so i didn't care about people commenting on my weight. While the comments themselves never really bothered me, the fact that they kept coming was annoying. I had an athletic metabolism, cuz i didn't do sport or any real form of exercise. Then i started swimming and i gained a bit of muscle tone and my chest expanded, so i was still super skinny, but at least now it looked like i got some meat on my bones. If you can't control what other people say, why bother? People always comment on me being "skinny", and that's mostly overweight people, I could not care less about them.......And Ariana does not look healthy, so people worry about her and comment on that. What does she expect?
@86figsАй бұрын
Refocusing how you view criticism is key. If someone talks about you good or bad just remember them going out of their way to say anything is a REFLECTION of what they do or don’t like about themselves. IT WAS NEVER ABOUT YOU! As soon as you truly understand that and learn to love yourself when you are all alone no matter what stage in life you’re in is when you will become mentally bulletproof. I don’t think many people will ever understand my comment but if you do congrats you are now an adult.

But is the problem the people that are pointing it out or the person they're talking to being too sensitive? People will always have something to say about your appearance. That's human nature. Girls are just brought up to believe that their appearance is their most important quality to have. Maybe they should stop being so self conscience and critical of themselves before they start blaming the people around them.

Sarah is also correct. I was working for the police and a young female police officer, only 26 years old, had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. She had a great deal of difficulty eating food because of it and had lost a lot of weight. One night at a social event a wife of another police officer noticed her and made a comment about how she needs to eat a donut. I mentioned to the wife no actually she is dying of terminal cancer and the wife felt very bad about this. I think she learnt her lesson not to be so thoughtless in her assumptions and comments.

Is it just me or is anyone tired of hearing Sarah Haines “ morally correct way of thinking comments “? Sarah Haines constantly takes the chicken way out in these discussions and always responds with an answer of the “morally correct way “ we all should handle this. I wish Sarah would tell us what “Sarah is thinking” and respond. Sarah brings nothing to this show, except a happy performance

Yep, we remember those days people who judged our bodies throughout the years. Have always struggled with my weight. When I have lost weight, people would say wow you look sick, then gain weight back, oh you could lose a few pounds. Always been a struggle. "Thank Goodness" (Glinda's song in Part 2) we didn't have social media to magnify the judgement, back growing up and older now

@rollingskydude123Ай бұрын
The point of this interview was to show that the comments can be dangerous. Whether she has something or not, everybody commenting could worsen the situation. It could make her feel insecure or could lead to her actually being unhealthy. It’s best to leave it be because none of your guy’s comments and opinions are going to help. You have no power over anyone else’s body and everyone already knows she looks a little skinnier so why continue to point it out.
@misslanapaulfordАй бұрын
@ansri24 Worried. As someone who has been skinny because I wasn't well. Sometimes, when i look at myself, when an actress is so extremely thin i ask the question out of worry not as a shame judgement kinda thing. I am generally worried about them. I know people know how they look like, but it is never (for me) a mean way at all. I've been really obese so i know what people can say to me and i don't care anymore. But i understand why people are annoyed..i def stopped saying anything when woman are really anorexic thin.
