She doesn’t have to…the media and her bigoted followers do it on a daily basis…stop judging what you don’t know…it’s deeper than just a title of the book…if you knew the backstory you’d understand it…she often speaks of her grandmother and the influence that she had over her life…she’d often tell her about her struggles and growing up black and not having access to places and things…she told her about not being to walk on the college campus in S.C. because blacks were not allowed to walk that way…she had to walk around the grounds…and she then goes on to thank God for change and how blessed she felt to have The University of South Carolina honor her with a statue on the same grounds that her grandmother wasn’t allowed to walk on…and there are other touching moments related to her dyslexia and feeling inadequate and her grandmother again was her confidant… Growing up in the south and seeing it for myself…I know that there are major differences and to be encouraged by someone that looks like me and have had similar experiences means a lot… TRUTH OF THE MATTER …somewhere out there in the Midwest there’s a little white girl that’s seen CC play ball and has become inspired…thinking there is someone there who looks like me and understands me…if she can do it then I can too

There needs to be some context behind the pay gap. NBA = 10 Billion in revenue each year, the average player salary is 9.6M, which is 0.0096% of the overall revenue, or 0.01%. WMBA by comparison makes 60M a year, and the average female salary is 103k, which is 0.17% of the total revenue. So yeah, they get paid less, but the business as a whole doesn’t make as much money. Technically, they’re making a higher percentage of the profits than their male counterparts. Not saying 103k is better than 9.5M, but it’s all about how much the business is bringing in. Context matters.
