Katherine has put her past behind her, started a successful baking company, and no longer feels the need to compete with other women to be happy. Both Mary Alice and Edie have come to terms with their mistakes and passed on. Even before their deaths, the two of them forgave themselves for what they did. The women on Desperate Housewives, even conservatives like Bree and Katherine, have far more agency and soft power (albeit these were used unhealthily) than Katie Britt does. The Housewives became healthier and more self accepting by the time the series ends.

Sara kinda said it best…..she a working middle of the road politically mom. Her and her husband and kids don’t have to worry about eating at the kitchen table. Katie Britt was trying to speak to those women, but missed the mark. Those women don’t need to be in the kitchen, even though they are concerned about kitchen table issues.

The kitchen thing was a clunky attempt at being relatable. Like, we're an all-American family in a 6,000 square foot mansion with 6 bathrooms, just like you. The kind of kitchen table issue that family has to discuss is how to minimize the taxes on their (at least) high 6-figure household income. Her husband is a former NFL player turned lobbyist, and she as a senator can easily make hundreds of thousands doing "consulting" (don't call it influence peddling) and the like for large corporations. The arrogance and hypocrisy of trying to pretend they know what it's like for regular people...
