To answer your question: the last Count Berenguer (there were 4) died in 1162 and according to Wikipedia the first cannon was used in Europe mid-13th century so no, bombard towers (if that even was a thing) did not exist back then.

But its a good for game balance. Back then when only CD version existed and Microsoft site was still on, Bombard Towers were doing full 120 dmg to the Ram, preventing doing what the Viper just did. HD version 'fixed' it and Bombard Towers do now only 1 dmg to the Ram and Trebuchet,

I think that this nerf was one of the most stupid things they have ever done. The bombard towers used to protect you from rams. Now they are worth nothing, they die to the same things as castles and regular towers. I would really love to see them doing melee damage again.

They actually nerfed the Bombard Towers in the Conquerors expansion, so Vipers strat would've worked on the CD version as well. Only in Age of Kings they did 120 melee damage.

I was already informed it was patched during the CD version. But back then when I played this as a child I didnt know what the internet was, that mean I never recieved this patch, and thats why I thought HD did this change. About the Bombard Towers in the other campaigns, there are just there only on the Hard difficulty, you play on hard so you get hard, normaly they are Guard Towers or Keeps.

It's not looking dumb or anything, it just adds to the entertainment value, makes it authentic and is pretty funny. Plus, even if you sink your entire supposed fleet or yolo all your horses, you manage to win the campaign, so what? :D

In the first mission you can complete the tournament on foot, but still have to get on the horse before you can leave the tournament grounds. Otherwise campaigns it is always on horse.

Some hints for you viper (i dont say anythink that you need in next episode :D) Emeny vils sometimes destroy buildings when there are getting attackt, sometimes they dont do this: when you one shot a vil they let the building "alive", like hit it with 20 cav archers. When you hit it with 1 cav archer, and he/she survive, he delete the building (also wonders when he is building it with 1 vil :-D ) When you get a message you should stop talking, for you easyer, and for the viewer there are not speaking 2 guys at the same time :) When you get a message, or get new buildings like in this episode you should look after this to the minimap... you know why :-P In the first minute where you are not finding the stable, the best way to say you, that you are sometimes just follow the road ;) And you didnt get much attackt because you are so fast... if the AI is that fast, player like me die easyly, dont forget that you are one of the best world AoE players ;-D And i have an nice idea for you ;) viewers vote for 1 game that you are play again from each (age of kings, the conquisterdors, (...) )and you have 1 veto, like you say at the beginning you dont want to play the "oh no" szenario ;-) Im sorry for my english (im so bad) XD

You couldnt do this Battering Ram push in the Original CD version, since Bombard Tower was doing full 120 dmg to the Ram. HD 'fixed' that problem and made Bombard Tower deal only 1 dmg to the Rams and Trebuchets. For me it doesent make sense, since other gunpowder units do full dmg to the Ram and Trebuchet still, but whatever.

It was already patched in the original version with patch 1.0c because otherwise all civs without bombard cannons would only have trebuchets against bombard towers.

Only way you can lose that duel is if you go on "no attack" stance. Especially with hero healing in between the fights, you can beat both the TH swordsman and the knight

To be honest, I prefer the Mamenukes, they deal melee damage, and not many stuff have high melee armour, while everyone and their grandmother has pierce armour. Skirms, Rattan archers, Huskarls, Elite Eagles, Siege Weapons. While melee armour is rare, Knights have a lot but mamelukes deal bonus damage to them, Teutonic Knights and Boyars, but both are equally as expensive as Mamelukes so...Still okay

Gates have less armour and once you do break through, you have a 4-tile hole in the wall instead of having to squeeze through single-file. That costs time as well.

It depends on the number of attackers and whether you have petards, among others. 10 units might be better off sneaking through a 1-tile hole, 3 siege rams can break a 3-wide hole into a wall in no time, 50 units might be faster through the gate though. Also whether the enemy has fortified wall as the HP and armor ratios are different between stone walls/gates and fortified walls/gates iirc.
