Hi Matt You reference the colors you are using as a lighter or darker blue, etc. Can you provide a list of the name of the blues and other pastels you are using? Thanks

Matt the thing I have trouble with as far as pastels, is their limited colors and most especially they are fat at the end rather than slimmed down like pencils...

Hi `Trailwalker`. I have been a member of Virtual Instructor since 2019 and love everything Matt puts out. I hope you won`t mind my asking why you say that pastels have limited colors? The number of colors may vary from brand to brand (lower quality and hard pastels may be offered in 72 colors or less, but any better brands will offer you anywhere between 144 to 763 colors. If you want to see what`s available in the market, check out Dakota Pastels - they are a comparison chart that is particularly helpful. Of course, it all depends on our budget (mine is somewhat limited) and availability in our area (I am in Canada, and we don`t have as many brands available at a good price as Dakota in the US). Have fun with your art, no matter what medium you choose.

This was soft pastels - you could see them crumble a bit :)

Soft(chalk)pastels. He used Rembrandt, but there are many brands if you are just trying it out.
