I got some shivers when you pointed out Ellingwood on la plata

This was back before we climbed it so my precious brain had no clue what we were in store for.

I love how you hike with your film making gear and capture great shots on your way up. Place camera, walk down 50’ repeat! 😆👍Keep it up- love watching!

Appreciate it you recognizing that. Can def be a pain in the ass sometimes, but really love how it helps tell the story of the hike without talking.

As always, great video! Going near Colorado Springs in 2 months, any recommendations?

This peak isn't marked on Google Earth. Great video, very clear. The drone lays it out nicely. I've always liked the "music" by the way, because it's not really music. There's a certain humor in the plodding phrases and sustained rhythm as you ascend, sometimes pissed at monotony.

Google maps are inaccurate . Try a USGS 7 1/2 MINUTE quad . For accuracy ( and they don't need electricity )

Love your videos! Never miss one! Would love for you to update the tacky music thought.... Just saying!

Is it uncomfortable AF to hike in snowboard boots or did you find it reasonably tolerable?
@TheVirtualsherpa3 жыл бұрын
Not bad at all - have done it a lot so pretty used to it at this point. These boots aren't SUPER stiff which is why I was trying them out on this mellower gully. Def would need something stiffer for steep stuff which I am still trying to figure out.

@@TheVirtualsherpa awesome dude. Love the content. Last question - can strap-on crampons still work with hiking boots that don't have welts? I have some Zamberlan Baltoro lites and they're great but zero welt action. I noticed you had crampons on your snowboard boots and I'm guessing those don't have welts either. Thanks dude

Check out this video if you haven't already, I talk more about Crampons here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/parVhZx6arRplas Technically speaking, you shouldn't be wearing crampons on any boots that doesn't accept them or they really loose all efficiency. "Accepting them" could mean having the lip or welt you mentioned in which case they can take a hybrid or step-in crampon or just having a hard enough sole (which is the case with the boots I reference in that video and my snowbaord boots) like the ones you have - where they can accept a strap-on or semi-automatic one. The terminology on crampons changes for the states vs rest of the world but basically: Lip/welt = best type of crampon used for the most extreme of conditions and terrain, strap-on/semi-auto = used on boots with hard soles and suitable for softer snow and less intense angles.

@@TheVirtualsherpa makes sense and I did watch that video. Just trying to figure out what's the terrain limit in my boots which have rigid soles but lack lips and welts. That colouir you did on Arkansas - do you need welt/lippy thangs for that or could you get away with just a rigid boot/crampon set up? Final question I promise haha
@TheVirtualsherpa3 жыл бұрын
@@ryancampion832 Sorry I can't directly answer the question since it entirely depends on your comfort and the snow. For Arkansas it was very soft and I had absolutely no problem with strap-ons. If it was more icy or earlier in the season, would have preferred step-ins and true mountaineering boots. I also usually prefer to keep my feet comfortable so if anything, I tend to roll the dice a bit, especially when its spring time. Mountaineering boots are great for what they are but horribly uncomfortable when hiking miles and miles on flat ground.

The minute I heard you're doing the Centennials I got concerned. Please be careful up Thunder Pyramid. That mountain kills even experienced climbers.
