I've never heard anyone else mention this but me but I really love Pau's choice at the end to go hard on, "What the hell am I doing" and then light and sensitive on "here." That's what stood out to me the first time I heard it. A less-skilled vocalist might have gone hard on "here" and it wouldn't have been as powerful.

Someone must have pointed this out already, but Pau shares the part of lead vocalist with the guitarist Dany, and all three of them do backing vocals (harmonies!) though Ale doesn't normally do lead (her preference) unless necessary, like when Dany had a throat infection and couldn't do all the songs she normally does and the three of them shared the duty for, in this case, the gig at Black Box in Tijuana.

Animosity and Evolve are my favorites off their most recent album, but Choke is probably the best example of Dany's powerhouse vocals. 23 is a fantastic example for Pau. There's a couple great videos floating around of Ale doing Red Hands and The Hunter off of Queen of the Murder Scene. Narcisista is an excellent example of Pau singing while she beats the crap out of her set. Dust to Dust is great for that as well. They're all phenomenally gifted.

Pau is the lead WRITER for The Warning. She is a true empath and was a child prodigy of sorts. She wrote an entire concept album in middle school (Queen of the Murder Scene). While older sister Dany is the front woman of the band, Pau is the OTHER lead singer. She shares lead with Dany on some songs, and they both trade background vocal roles with Ale. This is a rock-and-roll power trio that started VERY young. At 9, 11, and 13, they were singing in front of people. At 18, 21, and 23, they toured several regions of the Western World. They are working on album #4 at this writing (late November, 2023). Listen to the entire concert (an hour and 38 minutes - you have been warned!) at Teatro Metropolitan in Mexico City on August 29, 2022. It is probably the BEST Warning experience you can find on KZbin to date. They are a very dynamic band. They can perform quiet ballads, or blow the roof off an auditorium with hard rock. Their original lyrics are deeply layered with social messages that are FAR beyond their youth. Watch their TED Talks from six and seven years ago to see how far they have come. This band has an addictive quality about them. They WANT the stage. They LIVE for performance. This is Pau showing off. I love it. Visit their web site for lyrics and back stories.

Pau is an emotional singer who had four hours to learn this song and then deliver this incredible performance. @Mr. Ekshin I think we should not confuse a highly practised stylized professional production with a singer who after a couple of try’s uploaded this for her patron community. To sit in judgement seems a little over the top to me. I’ve seen the warnings professional productions and they are at least at the same calibre as Haley’s. Haley did a wonderful version of creep, but to dismiss Paula’s version and not accept it for what it is seems. a little elitist

They did 20 some headlining shows but spent most of their time touring with Halestorm in the US and then with Three Days Grace in Canada. They finished with a festival in Bogota Colombia and then a sold out show in Lima Peru where the audience was singing along with all of their songs, even the English ones. In case you didn't notice Pau and her sister's are Mexican and Spanish is their first language.

The Warning are three sisters from Monterrey, Mexico that started making music very young Alejandra (Ale = Aleh, not the beer. Bass, backing vocals and keyboard, the youngest- 18) and Paulina (Pau = Pow. Drums, backing/lead vocals and keyboard, middle sister 20) at 3 and Daniela (Dany = Dany. Guitar, lead vocals and keyboard, the oldest 22) 5, all learning classical piano. They got the video game Rock Band and fell in love with the feeling of performing on other instruments. Their father asked if they wanted to learn another instrument and the girls jumped at the opportunity and gravitated to the instruments they played in Rock Band. They had been uploading their musical journey to KZbin for their family to see and had wanted to try and play music together as a band around 2012 and started rehearsing for a small performance for their school xmas show. Well They loved the experience so much they began learning and playing cover songs of hard rock and metal bands. One song in particular shot them into the limelight. That song, "Enter Sandman" by Metallica had gone viral (currently over 22 000 000 views) and had gotten the attention of Metallica, Dee Snyder and The Ellen Show! The Warning wrote, composed and recorded an EP called Escape the Mind in 2015 to experience that whole process and to determine what type of music they liked to make... Thankfully they chose Rock/Hard Rock! Ellen Degeneres invited the band to play live on her show, to which they accepted and played "Crazy Train" by Ozzy Osbourne, after the performance Ellen and Target awarded the sisters $10,000 each to attend Berklee School of Music in Boston, Ma. USA. They performed a number of small and large shows afterward and began writing and composing new material for their first full length album "XXI Century Blood" in 2017. They supported this album with some very high profile gigs like opening for Def Leppard and separately The Killers for two shows each in Mexico. Also following other large rock bands in a couple music festivals. In 2018 they wrote and recorded "Queen of the Murder Scene" and released it in November of that year and have toured Mexico and South American venues. In June of 2019 they released a single, "Narcisista". A scathing rebuke of their Mexican critics that had accused the band of being "Malinchista" a Mexican term used to call out cultural traitors, because the group has only recorded English language songs. Well this song is in Spanish and it is full of attitude and angst fired toward those critics. This was recorded live in June 2019 at Foro Didi in Monterrey Mx (their hometown) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/hWiscnieg5mFg68 The Warning is totally fan-funded through Patreon, KZbin and crowdfunding platforms like GoFundMe and Kickstarter. They have turned down offers from record labels and talent shows like American Idol because they did not want to lose their control of their music, image and wanted to focus on learning. In fact in one interview with a record label they were asked if they would rather play to 12 people or 12000. Paulina piped up and said The Warning would rather play in front of 12 if it meant they would keep their integrity and could play the music they want to play, how they want to play... That is the most Rock n Roll quote ever! So after a very successful Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for a North American tour and to record a new album achieving their goal within 24 hours and surpassing that goal by 600%. Unfortunately the Covid-19 Pandemic forced the band to cancel their tour plans and postpone making their album. Their last live show before the global lockdown was March 14 2020 at the Vive Latino 2020 Festival in Mexico City. This did not stop The Warning from performing though, they played a full concert set from their basement studio/rehearsal space for free for their fans on KZbin and Facebook achieving well over 50,000 simultaneous viewers on March 25, 2020. They have since performed from The Warning Cave a couple more times including for the city of Brownsville, Tx. for the Fourth of July virtual celebration and later in the summer for a charity event with rock legends like Slash and Ringo Star. On August 9th 2020 The Warning announced to their Patreon community that after seven long months of negotiations they had signed a five record deal with Lava Records, a label under the Republic Records and Universal Music family. During the announcement they reiterated their dedication to their own creative integrity and dedicated fans on Patreon and were able to retain both in their record contract with Lava. In Sept of 2020 The Warning traveled to New Jersey, USA to begin rehearsal and eventually recording of their third album. After three months of recording and a month and a half of mastering, mixing and editing the third album was completed at the beginning of February, 2021. All that remains as of 22/02/21 is the album design and artwork and logistics of the release which will hopefully happen by the end of 2021. In March of 2021 The Warning was invited to cover a song from Metallica's eponymous 5th album (The Black Album) with Canadian Grammy and Juno award winning pop star Alessia Cara for Metallica's Blacklist album. A 30th anniversary celebration for the Metallica album. They selected to record Enter Sandman, a fitting song because it was this song that propelled The Warning 7 years previous into stardom. The Warning reimagined the song with Alessia and produced a fresh new feeling that goes above and beyond what others have done with the song... On May 21 2021 they released the single "Choke" to critical acclaim kzbin.info/www/bejne/ip2yqmOOl6uJoq8 . Followed by a new release roughly every month through to Sept. On October 8th, 2021, The Warning released six songs that were recorded for the new album on an EP titled Mayday with the remaining 6 songs to be released at a later date. Starting on the 18th of Feburary 2022 The Warning started out on their previously twice cancelled North American Mayday Tour. Their forst show was on Saltillo Mx followed by a short set openning for Mammoth WVH in Las Vegas, NV and another short set opening for Sammy Hagar in Austin Tx at the SXSW Festival. In Mexico City on March 18, The Warning got to open So now you've been WARNED! I hope you will check out more of their music and see how they have grown. Woo hoo!! The Warning. You can already see the devotion of their fans here. The Warning Army (TWA) is a pretty diverse, international cadre of fandom that cuts across soooo many demographics. In the U.S., i would venture to say, the majority of their fans are middle aged men who have been lamenting the death of hard rock in American culture and are super excited to see DPA pick it up and run with it in a way we haven't seen in decades. You'll hear and see a lot of us write about them as if they are our nieces/daughters. TWA is very protective of them, but trying to help get them out to the wider world. We really think that they are the future of rock. Their S. Something that Pau (and her sister Dany) do that adds depth, for me at least, is their focus on enunciation. It’s likely because English is their 2nd language, but it just makes everything sound so clean, but still allows room for the “rasp” and emotion to layer on top. They’re unique, for sure!

Excellent reaction! That 'vintage sound' is the old family piano that's probably in need of a bit of a tune... amazing how they've written (the foundations of) so many amazing songs, all based on Pau's banging away and singing over those 'vintage' keys.

I love the fact that for the last half of the song, you try to contain and hide your emotions but it is obvious you're close to tears, overwhelmed by the sheer raw magnetism of this young lady, that touches something really deep all the way to our bones. Don't you worry, many of us did (and still do) shed a tear during this amazing performance 😓 ....

She is not only the Drummer of The Warning, she's been voted the best rock drummer of the year 2023. Then add the fact that English is her second language!! Pau was just 19 at the time of this recording. And she isn't using any directional microphone to enhance her sound. ❤️🎶

Yes, you should definitely check out The Warning. The Villarreal Velez sisters from Monterey Mexico. Daniela (Dany) on guitar and a majority of lead vocals, Paulina (Pau) on drums and some lead , and Alejandra (Ale) on bass (she sings lead when Dany needs a break or isn't feeling well). Started playing together at 13,11, and 8. Their Enter Sandman cover , at 14,12,and 9, went viral. Ale just turned 18, Dany and Pau will be 23 and 21 end of Jan and beginning of Feb. If you're interested, try Choke, Money, Error, Animosity or Disciple with Dany singing. Or Dust to Dust and The End for Pau on vocals.

I started down The Warning rabbit hole a week ago, and what a glorious trip it has been so far. Listen to their latest album "Error". It is so rich with everything that makes music great. I'm 57 years old and this is the first time in my life I can say I love every song on an album. Every. Single. One. These young women are on the cusp of superstardom.

You have no idea what you’ve stumbled upon. This drummer, Pau (say pow) is lead vocals on many songs. Listen to live performances as they are phenomenal. Try Dust to Dust and 23 with Pau on lead while drumming, live at the Teatro Metropolitan CDMX august of 2022. Mind blowing. Welcome to the Warning rabbit hole … we’ve been waiting for you!

thx for this :) pau did this recording just on her phone, after a few hours preparation, when she asked her insta followers which song to sing for them, and this was the result, the "yes" at the end obviously came from taking some tries on it finally nailing it :) as a song to react to from the warning, well the warning army will provide you with a whole bunch, i guess, hehe my favorite with dany as lead to analyze the voice would be "Crimson Queen" ('Crimson Queen - THE WARNING - LIVE at Lunario CDMX') another nice one with pau is "Revenant" ('The Warning - REVENANT (Debut en vivo) - Teatro Metropólitan, Ciudad de México (CDMX), 2022')
@jimlaheta8864 Жыл бұрын
Yes, that debut of Revenant at Teatro Metropolitan is an excellent example of Pau putting it all out there & pushing herself to the edge. Absolutely loved that entire concert (well, both nights!). But my 1st love will be Dust-to-Dust, the first all original song I heard by The Warning - singing while playing drums? What?? For Danys vocals, I might add Amour or Martirio as other songs to check out

The Warning are three sisters from Mexico who started on KZbin at an insanely young age (there are videos where Ale's bass is bigger than she is), got a viral hit with a Metallica cover and have capitalised on it superbly. All three learned piano before switching to rock, and all three can sing. Dani (oldest) plays lead guitar and is the main singer, Pau plays drums, sings backup on most songs and the lead on a few (and is the principle songwriter IIRC) while 'little' Ale (the youngest, but also now the tallest 🤣) plays bass, occasional keyboards, and is starting to sing more and more. Bear in mind that the video you just watched wasn't any kind of 'professional' video, more a 'goofing off in the studio' kind of thing, probably shot on a phone. Ale did something similar with a jaw-dropping cover of Muse's 'Hysteria', which I'd love to recommend to you if it wern't for the fact that she doesn't sing a note in it...😉 What I can recommend are the music videos of 'Choke' or 'Disciple' (mainly Dani singing) or the live video of 'Dust to Dust' live at Lunario CDMX (2018) (mainly Pau singing). Something else you might consider interesting would be a back-to-back comparison of their earliest hit video (cover of Metallica's 'Enter Sandman' from 8 years ago) and one of their latest ones like Disciple to see just how far they've progressed.

As many others have mentioned, she and her sisters are special and already all time greats. I don’t say that lightly as I’ve listened to tons of music from different genres in my time. I try to pinch myself to make sure Im not a blind fanboy all the time, but they keep proving me correct over and over. They are a generational talent that should be heard by everyone. They’re compositions and lyrics are what sets them apart. Many artists are technically amazing, but few can write/compose like them. Even more rare that they can be melodic while playing heavy/punk rock. Enjoy

Great analysis! Her IG fans challenged her to learn this and she kills after 3-4 hours working on it. Brings me to tears. For another display of Pau's use of different vocal textures, check out Disciple and Revenant. For a great scream, and Pau's incredible drumming, the MV of Evolve. Dany's voice is worth a reaction, too. Contrast the opening in Choke to verse and chorus. Dany's had formal vocal training. As far as I know, Pau hasn't.

Good cover of the classic song "Creep". I think Paulina is an AMAZING multi-talented musician. A phenomenal drummer, singer/songwriter and keyboard player. I love her singing on these Warning songs ... Show Me the Light, Survive, 23, Dust to Dust, Narcissista and The End (Stars Always Seem to Fade). She's perfect for those songs. Daniela a great singer too of course. It must be difficult to choose which singer should do a song they wrote. I guess whichever singer sounds the best and makes the song "work" like they say in Hollywood. I bet they just want to do what's best for the band. They have special sister band chemistry.

Pau and Dany complement each other perfectly. Pau has a beautifully melodic and slightly raspy voice that is ideal for ballads. Dany has the powerful voice with a big vocal range that is perfect for hard rock. Little sister Ale has a voice somewhere in between and is perfect for backup singing and harmonizing.

Most have no idea where Pau will take this song. Especially when she begins the song, giving us the first few lines there are so few hints of what is to come later. It's so great to hear validation from vocal coaches the very things we appreciate as fans about her talents. You do need to listen to The Warning as a rock band and know that Dany, the lead vocalist/guitarist also has a unique and powerful voice. These two sisters will trade off on songs, but Pau will sing fewer songs especially in live performances because she exerts so much energy while drumming. All 3 sisters in the trio are fabulous harmonizers as well. Thanks for taking the time for this reaction.

She's not only the drummer, she's a composer as well as a singer, and the way you notice how she breathe as she's singing, it because while she's singing lead on the band, she's beating the crap out of the drums at the same time, she's one of the best drummer around, and it's a joy to watch her play, sometimes you can't keep your eyes off of her... watch their video Dust to Dust and you see what kind of talent she was 12 when their video of Enter Sandman went viral her sister were 9 and 14... that video has 24 million views, they have their own version of Enter Sandman, that Metallica ask them for the anniversary of the Black Album with 53 other artists, and their version it's the first one on the album ... they have over 40 original songs, and not one it's a bad song...

Pau is a genius. She is a bad ass on the drums but she’s also a technical wiz kid. She programs all the live shows on her laptop, especially for the Queen of the Murder Scene Tour. Any midis or click tracks needed, any artwork on the screen behind them, its Pau who programmed all if it in a software program on her laptop. Its what helps keep them tight as a band. Oh and lets not forget she’s the lead writer on all of the songs.

Rewatching this while waiting for my truck to get realigned. You brought up her commitment. 🎯 These sisters, there are three, are truly the penultimate personification of that word. When you see this beautiful soul's mastery of the drums - whilst singing - you'll understand how much you nailed it with that description. Check out Survive from even earlier, when they did a TEDx Talk. Both Pau and Dany trade lead on that one. Or Dust to Dust which stars Pau but features an AMAZING vocalization by Dany at the end. If not first at least to go back to after watching what they are doing now. I'm unapologetically obsessed with these ladies. They are on point always and their message reflects that. They're also the nicest, most wholesome young ladies you'll ever meet. Anyway 'nuff said. Please do more soon, you're reactionalysis was a joy. ✌️💖🎼

You will be happy to learn that all 3 sisters of The Warning have been working with a vocal coach for years and if you watch one of their early covers from 2014 and on, you can clearly see them progress by leaps and bounds. It is to be noted that this was an Instagram live challenge, where she asked the fans what song they wanted her to cover, the fans chose this one and she came back later that day and recorded it on her phone raw with no artifices whatsoever. She does not have the widest vocal range, but I love the raspiness in her voice and she has incredible volume and resonance, developed from singing lead while playing the drums live on a few songs and singing backing vocals on all the rest. Like others have said for her sister Dany, the song Choke is great, but to me if you want to compare with a raw video recording like this one, I would suggest her Instagram live recording of her covering Cavetown's Home, see below. The Warning have 2 lead vocalist, Dany is just the primary one. Pau's leads from the kit are extraordinary, and on the few occasions she had someone playing drums for her, she is as animated of a front woman as her sister. With all their musical abilities, their writing is even better. I recommend checking out the music video for their song "Martirio". It's one of 2 in Spanish, and both the song and video are stunning. Other than that, any live video is good. There are a few videos of Pau out front, but I would wait, because they are of lower quality, and there are some coming that will be worth the wait.

She’s an amazing artist. I’m definitely intrigued by what she could do it at such a young age, even though I don’t really know how old she is it’s clear she’s like a teenager. She does have a variety of things she does, with her voice, in order to interpret the story. That’s incredible for somebody her age. And her voice is so powerful and full, not just when she’s belting but of course, especially when she’s belting. Her technique is so interesting and I love it when she lets the raspiness come in. She really seems to understand what she’s talking about as well. Which is great for a song that she just learned in four hours. Particularly for a non-native English speaker.
