I could comment about how well David Gilmour and Richard Wright harmonize. I could talk about how well they performed together on the song "Echoes," and that since Rick's death, Dave won't play "Echoes" anymore. I could blather on about how probably 35% of that audience may well have come to that show simply to experience Dave's second guitar solo there. I could pontificate about how Dave's biggest talent is his utter ability to -- not play, but *emote* -- with that guitar in his hands. I could go on at length about how how happy it made me to see you react as you listened... ...but no. All I can really say is that the most emotional part about this for me was seeing Dave Gilmour, Rick Wright and Nick Mason sharing a stage together, even if it was recorded nearly thirty years ago... and knowing that it can never happen again. We still love you, Richard, and we miss you.

I get the peak Gilmour-Wright-interaction-conversation feels from "Echoes" at Gdansk. It's especially poignant given it was the last time the two were recorded together, as Wright passed away not long after that show. Gilmour has said he'll never play "Echoes" again because he just can't bring himself to without Wright.

I honestly think it is harder to play a solo like this than it is to just shred out a ton of notes. Playing a solo with so much feeling and smoothness takes a LOT more skill than just being able to move your fingers fast. Gilmour is the master of this kind of solo.

I was one of them that evening. My daughter's birthday 19 years to the day before her birth .926am 20/10/2013.. CONCERT OBVIOUSLY 94. They done 15 at Earls Court in 21 days at £25 a head. The Stone's done a farewell tour roundabout then. £100 a ticket. So against all their managers and financial advisors advice. I,m pretty sure Gilmours Concept of transporting an inch by inch scale Replica of The Hollywood bowl and the lighting 100,s of staff 100,s of truck's worldwide. Could have left them penniless. If this is Earl's Court then so was I , had a great seat about 30 - 40 yards from the stage on the left hand side as you look at the stage. The first and only time I saw them , was with about 8 friends , it was truly a magical night. Came out of the gig , completely.... Mind blown . A... Maze...ing ! (And yes, I realise that's not how you spell amazing 😉) I went on the second night , if I remember rightly there was a slight accident on the first night with some seats collapsing . I don't think anybody was badly hurt.

Thank you so much for reacting to this. I was in high school here in North Carolina when this song first came out in 1979. I remember it well. My girlfriend and I at the time loved attending concerts. It was one of the things we loved doing together. My wife loved concerts as well during that time. There were a huge number of wonderful groups at the time and concerts were not very expensive to attend. Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Boston, Journey, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Triumph, 38 Special, Foreigner, and many others. I can not describe to you what a wonderful time it was to be young then. We were happier, relationships were closer, life was more carefree, and the music was spectacular. My heart just aches that young people will not get to experience life as we did as teenagers in the 70’s/80’s. Our 4 adult children (28-33) are big fans of 70’s-80’s music like my wife and I are. It’s great, lol. Again, thank you so much for posting this video. It was a wonderful treat.

Hi - I am a classically trained tenor, and I am largely a self taught guitarist. Now that the perspective BS is out of the way, I can say that I can recall hearin this song on the radio for the first time you're back in 1979. I had been playing guitar for 1 year, at best, after having had several years of violin and piano lessons, with which I did well. I had already heard music by Led Zeppelin, black sabbath, the eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, etc. I was not ready for what David Gilmore had in store for me, even though I had heard Pink Floyd's earlier releases and, as a budding guitarist, I was mesmerized by all of that music. Listening to the bands execution of that live version of comfortably numb brought back memories and elicited a massive display of Goosebumps all over my arms. Watching this young lady's reactions to this music enhanced those Goosebumps, but her excitement over this music renewed in me the hope that appreciation for such wonderful works as comfortably numb is not in danger of being left in the proverbial dust. I find it hard to believe this is even genuine. How the hell can anyone work in the music business, unless you're a kid, claim to have never heard this song in any capacity? It's like working in the music industry and claiming you've yet to hear "Bad" by MJ. It's just one of those songs. If anyone has any musical depth to them, they just know these songs. I’ve been listening Comfortably Numb since I was at college in Taiwan. I remember playing the cassette tape back and forth on the part of this guitar solo. What a magical tunes….. I still have my eyes wet every time I play this song. I can fully understand that the hostess wanted to share her feelings on this great music, but i think she’s also afraid of spoil the integrity of this piece to pause it. As a prog rock fan, mostly old Genesis, I feel like I SHOULD like Pink Floyd more than I do. I love Wish You Were Here, but Comfortably Numb, at least for me, overshadows every other song of theirs. Heck, almost every other song on the planet. It almost feels like a waste of time to listen to any other song of theirs!

@MrJonah53 I was there as well. Pink Floyd finished the Pulse tour with 12 nights in Earls Court, and I was there for 3 of the 12 concerts, including the night they filmed the shown concert. One of the highlights of my 6 month stay (work project) in London.

This song comes from The Wall album, which tells a complete story. It is a beautiful song, but when heard in the context of the album it is even more powerful. The ultimate experience of hearing this song is during The Wall movie, which gives not only the musical experience, but the visual one as well. Watching it definitely helps understand exactly what is going on during the song, and takes it to a whole new level. If you have never seen it, do yourself a favor. I played the studio version of this song once for my girlfriend at that time, playing along with the cd on my guitar. I nailed the final solo, playing along note for note. She cried at the end.

I've said it many times, and I still stand by it: There's Pink Floyd, and then there is everyone else. It's neither fair nor reasonable to compare them with anyone else. I was lucky enough to see this tour live when they came to Atlanta. I've been to 200+ concerts in my life, and there is not another one that has even been close to the energy and excellence as that one. It was truly an experience I'll never forget.

Pink Floyd are the undisputed God's of Live performance. This entire concert is studio quality. All of the lights and special effects are highly choreographed to maximize and amplify the emotion in the music. They want every audience member to have a visceral experience. There will never be a band/artist that can surpass Floyd.

I adore Pink Floyd, but some - myself included - would say that an ideal live performance is not just a reproduction of what is on the record, but is instead wildly different from the record, full of improvisation. I mean, if you want to just hear the record, who needs the band? Just put the record on, start the lights flashing , and let the band stay home with the wife and kids. I mean, absolutely no offence to Pink Floyd or their music when I say this; David Gilmour is one of my top three guitar heroes. However, it’s not because he sounds exactly like he does on the record - quite the opposite. I love the improvisation in his solos. Now that he’s a solo artist, he does much more improvisation, and, in my opinion, is much more enjoyable to hear and watch. Greatest live band ever: Blue Öyster Cult. No guitar solo is ever the same. No keyboard solo is ever the same. The drum patterns are different at every show- particularly in their golden years, between 1973 and 1981. Rock ‘n’ roll is not meant to be as Symphony Orchestra, in which each musician consistently adheres to the sheet music every night; it’s meant to be an emotionally charged, of-the-moment phenomena.

Unlike most songs at a live concert, the crowd is standing almost motionless, in complete awe, letting that perfect song just wash over them, mesmerized by the beauty of blending music, lights, and a guitar solo that pierces deep into the soul. What a totally immersive experience. When the audience thought they were standing under a giant disco ball, they had their minds blown even more, when it opened up in the lead-up to the final crescendo. The view at the end, from the back of the auditorium over the entire scene was magical. The music alone was mesmerizing, but the visuals added a level beyond anything I'd ever seen, before or since.

Okay. You mentioned lighting. This concert is the greatest live music lighting design ever made. I know, as I am a lighting designer for live music myself. They had 2 full lighting/sound rigs and crews for this tour, it took over a week to assemble and set up, so whilst they were playing one venue, the other rig and crew would be travelling ahead to set up the next venue.

This was recorded well after their vocal peaks. They've brought in some young help to bolster their weak spots, but they are still strong, in step, and unified. This is a band with scars that in many ways is better than their youth. And the way they use instruments as emotional voice: incredible!

I happened to witness that concert live in 1994 and it was beyond bombastic. Over 80.000 people listened to this hypnotizing guitar solo, 60.000 in the Munich Olympic stadion and 20.000 more sitting on the hills in the Olympia Park. ✌☺🤘

I love seeing the expression on people's face when they watch/listen to this for the first time as that ball starts to open up. At that point they are completely mesmerized by the guitar solo and then that happens! One of the iconic live performances of all time. DG is the solid proof of "shredding" has nothing to do with being a great guitarist! His solos are not made of thousands of notes but rather few notes that takes your breath away! I am a 66 yr old male and I became aware of Pink Floyd when their The Wall album came out in 1979. I was 21 yr old guitar player in a band in those days. Well actually until I heard Dave Gilmour, I "thought" I was a guitar player! Even after 45 years when I hear his second solo of Comfortably Numb I still get emotional. It feels like standing in front of something so vast, so majestic that makes you realize how little actually you are in this universe of ours... In my opinion he is the #1 of all times!
