ABOUT THE VOICE
The four-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series "The Voice" returns as Queen of Country Reba McEntire claims her red chair alongside last season's champ, Niall Horan, and returning superstar coaches John Legend and Gwen Stefani as they vie to discover and coach the next singing phenomenon.
The show's innovative format features five stages of competition: Blind Auditions, Battle Rounds, Knockouts, Playoffs and Live Performance Shows.
This season, the block returns to the Blind Auditions, and during Battles, each coach will have two steals to use. The Three-Way Knockouts are also back. This time, however, artists will select their own songs to perform.
Once the Live Performance Shows begin, the top artists will compete against each other weekly during a live broadcast. This time, the television audience will vote to save their favorite artists. In the end, one artist will be named "The Voice" and receive the grand prize of a recording contract.

I think they should have put 4 people through from each team. Especially this year when the talent was off the charts fantastic ! What makes her unique/standout is actually her pureness, no show off vocals, her emotional connection to the essence of the song and singing it in a way that captives your heart. Alexa should not have been eliminated. I had momentarily regained hope in The Voice that it would finally advance a truly talented, masterful singer, songwriter and storyteller, as well as a beautiful human being inside and out - a rare combination, against so many singers that are merely trying to outdo each other to see who can belt the highest. What's the point of singing a song if all you care about is producing the highest tone of what becomes monotonous in that high range? (which by the way, stresses out the vocal cords over time) Alexa sang circles around every singer on that show, and especially with her interpretation of BELIEVE, which far surpassed Cher's own interpretation. I'm reminded once again that producers care only about profits. But I'm so grateful that Alexa did this and that so many got to hear her unique and beautiful voice and could feel her tender and vulnerable soul. She inspired everyone. Isn't that what singing is all about? She is going to have a marvelous career ahead!

I’m so sad to see Alexa go. She was my favorite! I loved watching her performances. Not only could I hear the intense emotions in her voice when she sang, I could see them on her face as well. I’m really surprised that she was sent home, not only because I loved her performances and all the coaches consistently praised them, but also because the editing of this show made me think that she was one of the top contestants and likely to move forward. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think 3 of Alexa’s performances were shown in the very last spot on those episodes: her blind audition, knockout, and this one on the Playoff. I feel like the editors/ producers making the show try to save some of the best or most exciting performances for the end of the episode, kind of like a grand finale of the performances for that night. So I thought that the producers were trying to portray her as one of the strongest contestants. and the coaches were all saying that she was so unique and stood out. As for Niall’s reasons for cutting her and keeping Mara, Huntley and Nini instead: I think all the coaches at this point are guessing which if their contestant will be most popular with the viewers of The Voice who vote. The coaches might choose to let some of their favorites go if they don’t think they will get enough votes from the viewers. I think Niall wanted to keep the younger women on his team longer because he thinks they have a better chance at winning, partially due to their ages. I remember last season a this time how all the coaches pretty much cut all their contestants over the age of 25, except for Noivas. I don’t know if that is more because of the ageism in the music industry or the demographics of the viewers of this show and what the coaches suspect they want. 😒☹️ I understand that all the contestants are extremely talented, and it’s a difficult decision, but I was so sad to see Alexa go. I really like them all! I’m excited to see what Alexa does next.

Honestly I think it’s because it’s pre-filmed. At the time he made this decision he had no idea how much the audience would love Alexa. He was trying to pick the biggest performers because he thought that’s who would get the most attention from voters. He obviously appreciates Alexa’s talent, he might’ve just been worried it wouldn’t excite the people enough. Unfortunately he was wrong, but I can understand why he decided what he did.

***Alexa has some very pretty music on Spotify. I have been enjoying listening to it . Alexa has been my favorite in the competition this year, but I’m old . The song brings two memories to me. Sting’s song was playing over the PA of a supermarket, of all places, while I staggered around in a daze, having just been dumped by my boyfriend. The second memory is of Eva Cassidy, gone to soon, whose gorgeous rendition made me listen to this beautiful song and love it without sorrow. Alexa brought back to me the emotions of hearing Sting that time and Eva every time. I am sorry to see Alexa go. I hope this time on the Voice opens doors for her. Singer-songwriters have a really hard time becoming known. They almost never become big these days but they can sometimes make a living. I always hope that one of the singer-songwriters from the Voice makes it to one of the music festivals or smaller venues in my area, but no one has yet.
