I am an American, going on 70 years old. I have spent the last two weeks watching and listening to the tv show the voice, many countries have the show including Russia, Holland, China, and many others. The things I noticed besides the great talent was the facts that, when it comes to music, people almost everywhere are the same. It brings feelings from the heart. No politics, no greed, racism, just a lot of good feelings! I’m thinking that perhaps Heaven is something like this.

Hi Steven - I also am an American & I am 63 years old. Isn't it great that we can find new music that can touch our souls. And, from the post of Kelsey O'Connor, music that also touches the soul of a 19 year old. Music, when it is great, is truly the universal language. Sometimes, when I connect to this music, it makes me feel a little bit younger.

@NickManJams4 жыл бұрын
Lyrah - You’ve nailed exactly what makes her cover so compelling: vulnerability. It cracks the very fabric of the souls listening to her, because there’s such power, yet it feels brittle, like the swan song of a glass cannon. Have to give credit to the music composition as well - the chord changes affect the melody in such a way that makes the tune uncomfortable, but in a subtle enough manner as to not be repulsive to a common audience. Combine that with her voice and you get one of the most haunting and trenchant performances in the history of the show, in my opinion. I’ve never heard of the song, nor the play she sang from, and I’m sure many of the listeners also haven’t. This song’s become eponymous with Darota.

THAT is real music, the voice of this girl is like liquid gold. I have never cried so much while listening to someone singing. I'm speechless everytime, it's incredible. You have all my respect Dorota. Thank you for that musical experience !
@dieseldog009 жыл бұрын
One reason is the people you name have been elevated to star status by the media and the music they have released. Another may be that eastern Europeans are very good with Classical music but not so good with Western popular music. Now it is up to Mr. Marek(if he chooses) to guide Dorota to the stardom she seeks. An English language album release and a media blitz in Europe and North America will propel Dorota to a high place in popular music.

Translation: Narrator: Coaches do not know Dorota's story. Only her voice can persuade them... After her song. Marika: Wow. I'm sorry. I'm taking a leave (from job). Justyna: Honey, what's your name, tell us? Dorotka, I will put my glasses on, because it shows I was crying. As "a professor" I can't be so emotional. But you know, you just sang so beautifully! Not only I love this movie and this song, but believe me (Tomson asks: Cafe Baghdad? Justyna correcting him: Baghdad Cafe), but believe me, only a negligible amount of people on earth can sing it so it will move other people. And you sang it absolutely so it did. You have such a talent! 3:00 min Justyna crying: I am truthfully moved. Really. Marika: All are crying. Tomson gives Justyna cleanex: Here you go. Marek: When there is a freshness, I am defenseless like a child. Dorota: Thank you. Marek: When you sing I feel I've been given a prize, because for all my life I was living this way, so when I'm past 60 I have tears brought by emotion to my eyes. I didn't destroy it in me. And I didn't allow it to be destroyed in me. Remember. You need to protect it in you, what happened today. 3:40 min Marek: Remember about your great strength. Do not waste it. 3:56 min Patrycja: You know, I think that we are all longing sometimes to the end of our nerves. To the blood. We are longing for something or someone. When you sang, you stroke the chord with all the longings in my heart. I thank you for it very much. This was a beautiful moment, really. 4:24 min Baron:Dorotka, emotion can be expressed by tears or by goose-flesh all over the body. I was showing Tomson mine (goose-flesh) and he shown me his. It's rare for us to have them. Thank you for them. 4:42 min Tomson gives Dorota cleanex: I can't watch woman cry. I'm sorry. 4:54 min All coaches: Wait, wait. Tomson: Now is the most important part for you. You need to stand there and select a coach. Justyna:She is just coming to me. To Tomson: Don't be upset. 5:05 min: Justyna: You are so wonderful! But now, you need to choose one of us. You need to return to the stage and choose one of us. Dorota: Can I choose from here? Justyna: You can, of course. Only wait for me, so I can sit down, so you can see me clearly. 5:32 min Dorota: I don't know what to say. But I will ask for Marek. Marek's twitt: I was destroyed. Nothing more to say. Respect. Great. 6:06 min Marika: Can I touch you? Are you real? Thank you so much. 6:11 min Justyna: She is all music. I don't know what her background is and what she is carrying inside. What is her story. But I can hear it (this story) in her voice. She is just purging human souls. This is great gift. 6:27 min Marek: Dorota killed me. For all our life we are hiding our wounds, our horrific splinters. We are hiding them even before ourselves. Forgetting about them. Pretending they are not there, because we need to carry on and function. And here she comes, such a girl. And it's clear that all our tricks, maneuvers and lies and lies to ourselves - to hide inside us what is so painful - suddenly it all bursts. Like a Pandora's box. And we have wet eyes. Past 60. And this is my prize. And the fact that she chose me, it's just a miracle.

I believe she lost to Natalia Sikora, who is also AMAZING. Listen to her version of "Crybaby" by Janis Joplin. I like Dorota Osinska more, but no shame in losing to Natalia Sikora. Those two IMO are the most talented vocalists I've ever seen from TV shows, let alone imagine what are the odds they were competing with each other same season, same show, same country? Crazy.

I am a mucisian/songwriter for more than 35 years (male) and have a pretty good ear for frequecncies and tone, yet I have never heard a human voice sustain notes so steadily. The human voice is an organic thing, unlike a mechanical instrument, and therefore subject to many minute flaws of fluctuation, warble or pitch in even the greatest and most controlled voices. I have never heard a human vocal instrument as near perfect as Dorota's vocal chords. Truly an amazing gift. It would be a complete crime to not log many hours of recordings of her rich tone and perfectly controlled notes and scales. There is virtually no fluctuation in her legato notes I would love to see her power notes on an oscilloscope. Her modulation must create a perfect tone with every wave the exact same height until she goes into her beautiful vibrato. That is what it sounds like to me, so I can imagine what the waveform must look like. What a privilage to experience this performance….. I’m just sorry I couldn’t experience it live…. Goosebumps all over and that has never happened to me so consistantly as when Dorota sings. Dorota is a one in a billion.
@theolamp53129 жыл бұрын
Wolverine Smith Yes, both Goosebumps & Tears. At first I was so caught up in the emotion of this performance that I didn't actually realize the near perfection that you mention. I have learned that. To recognize it we only have to listen to some of her songs sung in a language we may not understand. "Ale Jestem" in Polish, or "Je t'aime" in French. You still know you are hearing something moving & unique. Can I say ethereal? I usually call her voice once in a generation. It would be a great loss if her voice would not be known to all those in the world who can appreciate her gift. However, I fear that with the nature of the music industry, that may not come to pass for a long time. I once saw a review of a Joni Mitchell album that said the pencil pushers at Geffen Records wouldn't know art if it was hanging on their own walls. The industry is based on promotion & airplay. They think that if you hear a song often enough, you will learn to like it. Sorry if I'm long winded. I'm from the US, but I'm 3/4 Irish descent & it's in my nature. Best wishes - Ted

Here's the translation to what the judges are saying: JUSTYNA: Honey, what's your name? (Dorota) Dorotka.. let me just put on my glasses because you can tell that I've been crying and I just can't allow myself to show that much emotion. Nevertheless, you know what.. you sang so beautifully. Not only do I love this movie and this song...Baghdad Cafe, yes... believe me, there's only a couple people in this world that can sing this song in a way that can make people emotional. And that's exactly how you sang it. You just have SUCH a talent, I am honestly so moved. Really. MAREK: When you sing, I am helpless like a child. When you sing, I feel like I won a prize. That my entire life I lived in a way so that after being 60 years old, I still could have tears in my eyes. That I haven't ruined that within me. And I haven't let myself ruin that for me. Remember to treasure and guard what happened today. Remember your tremendous strength. Don't lose it. PATRYCJA: You know, I think that everyone in their lifetime longs for something or someone, deep down inside. And when you sang, you hit in every single longing in the heart right on the head. I thank you very much for that. That was a really beautiful moment. TOMSON & BARON: Dorotka, you can show emotions with tears, you can also show them with the goosebumps that run through your whole body. I was showing him my goosebumps and he showed me his. This very rarely happens for us. Thank you so much for that. *hands Dorota a tissue* I cannot look at a woman crying. I'm sorry. Then they go on to saying that she needs to choose one judge. Dorota says: "I don't know what to say but I want to choose Mr. Marek." At the end Justyna says "She is the definition of music. I don't know what she's experienced in her life or what her story is, but you can hear it in her voice. She cleanses peoples' souls. That's a huge gift." MAREK: Dorota killed me. During our entire life we hide wounds, terrible experiences that we hide even from ourselves, cause we have to live, go forward. And then this girl comes along and all our tricks and lies that we've lied to ourselves, all hidden hurts, just burst open like a Pandora's box and we start having tears in our eyes. Thats a reward for a person in their sixties. And the fact that she chose me is a miracle! :)
