I'm pretty sure most people can easily hit that high note in head voice but it sounds like he's really belting the high note in his full chest voice so he's probably a high tenor like Micheal.

It's so cool to witness (pun intended) the power of nostalgia in this performance. I was born in 1984 so I was blessed to witness so many MJ milestones even if it was at the tail end of his career, since this was 1992 onwards mostly (for me). I understand, this performance brought me back to when I was a little kid. It's like it's a timecapsule, the whole world evolved but you can picture the exact childhood year fully detailed on your mind. :) It's so cool to see both the audience and the public react to this :) Honestly if I were a judge here, I would walk to this man and kiss his forehead, I don't care about anything else. This is an utterly beautiful performance, the likes we witness only so rarely even in the days of the internet where we can listen to so much quantity overall. When he sings it's like I transported to where I was around the time. I can't resist it. Cool stuff.

Most people who see this don't remember what this concert meant to Romania. The country was just coming out of communist rule. To have such a huge AMERICAN artist come to their country... changed the country and reminded them what freedom will be like. Even without understanding the judges' speeches, it is clear through Tudor, Andra, and Smiley just how much that concert meant to them and the country. Irina acknowledged this, that she was too young, but still, you could see how strongly she reacted. Forever one of my favorite performances ever.

I'm a producer at Abbey Road Studios, formerly EMI, and we ran his voice through a sound analyser, then Michael singing exactly the same part of the song, we were astonished how alike both playbacks were, the only noticeably difference was in the contestant's tone and treble. but even that was marginable, unless you were told it was there, I doubt very much that you would hear the slight difference.
