Like i said, Nightmare fuel. I enjoy most of my nightmares. I know it's weird but over time i find a routine to stay in control and avoid panic even in the most disturbing dreams. And i kinda like it. But you need a setup as you go to sleep, avoid being too tired, and exteriors elements to almost wake you up. I have loud train and cars passing by my appartment. these can pull you back from deep sleep just enough to wake up the part of the brain related to memory, allowing for a certain level of control, or at least a "Spectator" PoV, during the dream. And it works better with nightmare as they tend to try to wake you up on their own. It's quite fascinating really. Once in a while you get quite the ride, but nothing can really be planned. SCPs provides interesting ideas, fueling the imagination . So They're perfect for that. I wonder how many ppl experiment on their dreams.

So the only people that star on the show are dead at the time the episode is released, and their deaths were not weird in anyway? My headcannon is that it's meant to be some sort of entertainment comedy show for the underworld. So after they die, they get to star on the show so all their fellow ghosts can just have a nice laugh. And somehow it's accidentally getting found by us non-dead people, and we just don't understand dead person humour. There we go, now its much less creepy :)

This is probably one of the scarier kinds of SCPs. It's not just a creature or anomylous object. Things like this and Doctor Wondertainment come across as group efforts. This is a bunch of people having the same kind of crazy, implying that they're less anomylous than most people would like to believe.

Interesting combination of playing madness straight and body horror themes. I don't think the execution itself is meant to be outright scary given the randomness (although certainly grotesque), but the implications of what is even supposed to be going on behind the scenes of the show itself. Where is this taking place? Who made it and what are the public recordings really meant for? What really happened to the people before and after? And of course, why the obsession with laughing? Is some entity of madness feeding off of that emotion? Who knows. I like an scp where the questions and theories that must be created by the presented evidence almost have to be more baffling and incredulous than the anomaly itself. And that's a solid core theme to some of the best anomalies, not a Cthulu Sue power fantasy, but an idea that plays with our fearful fascination of the unknown with our need to explain it.

I imagine that all the "prank" scenarios were actual instances of the SCP preying on these people however, the parts where they all laugh are edited by the SCP to seem positive while in reality they likely screamed at the horrific sight and were killed and absorbed into the SCP.

Honestly, I'm more inclined to believe that it's taking the souls of the recently passed and is using them in a sort of Purgatorial escapade, wherein they appear to be alive and fine, but are being subjected to terrifying and macabre supernatural whatever-the-hells. Like imagine Beetlejuice being even MORE of an asshole than usual, and that's getting close to Mr. Laughy.

Theory: The people's bodies and souls are abducted from our dimension and taken to an extradimensional plane inhabited by a creature which thrives on laughter, but also on horror and revulsion, and cannot differentiate. The participants are re-used as extras, audience members and filming staff as needed, in what is essentially an endless television production effort in which the human crew and personnel are aware of the nature of their project, and are willingly taking part in it, unable to die and unfazed by it. It is exclusively people who *would* have been able to handle this situation and take part in it, which is why it's such a small part of the population, and typically is people with especially dark senses of humour, or people who favour shock entertainment over anything else. They're not exactly acting either: the actors of a given episode are temporarily amnesticized of their actual situation in the dimension in order to make the shock and horror authentic, and once the man in the suit arrives, their memory returns and they share a genuine laugh over it. Pain isn't real to these people anymore.
