That agent deserved his commendation. Sure, we know now that he wasn't in danger, but he didn't know that at the time, and you know what he did? He did the goddamn job, regardless. Likewise, you want to talk about a waste of resources: everything we know about the SCP is because of the sample he brought in. If he hadn't, the Foundation might have had to draft (and then amnestitize) half of some country's Navy. Better and cheaper to have over built a containment cell.

Hope for the best, plan for the worst as the old adage goes
@dylanhaugen37393 жыл бұрын
Considers the other stuff the foundation deals with they could probably find another use for the containment area, and simple move the scp to a normal tank for sea life. Doesn't have to be a huge waste of resources.
@Warcrafter43 жыл бұрын
There's also the fact that someone is forced to "Bite the Bullet" to even get the observations set up to allow inoculation. So whomever first brought it in would be afflicted no matter what. So it couldn't be considered the agent's fault. He was also able to preform his task while under extreme hallucinations which in and of itself would be an invaluable property to the foundation regardless given it would allow them to be tasked with other mind altering SCP's.
@undefinedvariable80853 жыл бұрын
@@Warcrafter4 Agreed. This should be noted for the record. The agent's ability to carry out his assignment under acute psychological duress is instrumental. Despite agent [redacted]'s influence under SCP-252, he has demonstrated uncommon subliminal-subversive operational effective qualities essential in engagements with, and exposure to cognitohazards.

i love how the rubber ducky file references the myth of Tantalus, it was a nice touch. also the fishy rain fungal creatures remind me of some of Lovecraft's creations. Lovecraft tended to make creatures based on animals, plants ecetera that humans had little sympathy for, and the ocean was one of his favorite places for Eldritch abominations to hide. Among other things there were fish people (Shadow over Innsmouth), crab people (Whisperer in Darkness), fungi people, the Elder Things from the "Mountains of Madness" were based on sea anemones I'm fairly sure. The other interesting thing about that file was the ship. Right now there are people in the real world experimenting with mycelium based building materials.
