I really liked the little gallery you did at the end, great for more variety and saves you doing more than one tutorial. This would be really good for other things, maybe zombies, skeletons and horde units, to stop them all being the same. Liam

I think this is the best channel on youtube for hobbyists making the jump from the GW painting tutorial videos to a higher standard of paintjob. The quality is great and you always explain things in an easy to understand manner. I liked the different variations of paint job and the colours to achieve them that you added at the end too!

Hey War Gamer! Just wanted to thank you for the tutorial! My favorite tutorials of yours are the new releases for Games Workshop tutorials, and I especially appreciate tutorials without an airbrush. There are so many airbrushing tutorials out there, I've always loved your channel for doing regular brush tutorials. Watching your tutorials actually compel me to go out and buy whatever you are painting, even if I have no models to make an army out of. Especially liked the alternate paint schemes in this video. Thanks again, keep up the good work!

I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying the videos. Maybe I should ask GW for a commission on whatever miniatures you buy as a result of my tutorials :P

Hello! Thanks for the tutorial. Great, as always. But didn't you apply another layer of rakarth flesh above sepia wash? Or it's just seems so...
@PeteTheWargamer7 жыл бұрын
I had to touch up a few areas after the wash and I was interrupted during it's application and ended up with tide marks. Unless this happens to you then you shouldn't need to repaint the rakarth flesh. All the more reason to make sure that your washes are nice and thin!

Wow, this is an excellent tutorial, thank you! Not only did this help me figure out how I might paint my own gryph-hounds, but the dark grey scheme at the end was the last bit of inspiration I needed to finish off some fatigues for my Tau army (I had wanted the warm brown-greys of the skavenblight swatch, but wasn't happy with a highlight of karak stone, so seeing the baneblade brown was just what I needed!). Did you use an all over wash, or a targeted recessed wash?
@PeteTheWargamer7 жыл бұрын
It took me a while to decide on which paint to use for the highlight as I wanted a warm grey to contrast against the blue grey of the head and feet. But I gave BB brown a go and I think it came out great. I used all over washes. I water them down slightly, apply a layer, allow to dry and then apply again. It helps to reduce the chanced of staining and tide marks.

Awesome, thanks for the details! I'll be putting this to use for my Tau ASAP, and I can't wait to use the other schemes on gryph-hounds of my own.

@@PeteTheWargamer That skavenblight looked great. So I'm guessing you first applied Skavenblight, then Nuln Oil, then Skavenblight over the top, barring recesses, and then used Baneblade brown as the highlight? Or did you mix the Baneblade brown with the Skavenblight first? Just curious!

Sorry but unsubbing. Used to love your tutorials but hearing you say "add water" at every single painting stage is just irritating and patronising.
@SharrowkynXIX7 жыл бұрын
How is it? These tutorials are for all skill levels and to get newcomers into using good habits. Your comment is pretentious.
@xeanee65577 жыл бұрын
Nice try on using a big word like pretentious, but I wasn't trying to impress upon anyone. I stated an opinion and let the author of the video know my criticism. I even used some of his tutorials early on to paint my models to a decent standard, but over the last few months i've felt like a little child watching his videos as i'm being told the same sentence every 15 seconds. It's a very easy thing to say at the beginning of the video to mix in a little water into your paints to improve the flow and then continue the tutorial with the step to step guide. Or even throw it in every now and then like Duncan does with his "2 thin coats". However, the constant "add water to improve the flow/improve control" at every single stage insinuates the viewer isn't concentrating or doesn't understand a simple instruction and starts to grate on the viewing pleasure and causes a cringe instead.

Alex Harradine Alex Harradine Alex Harradine not at all, it's done to reinforce that it's a good idea to do so. I can guarantee I've been in this hobby longer than you at 20 years and watch numerous videos and it isn't insulting at all. If anything it shows you have some serious issues yourself that your projecting onto the video and creator. Duncan's videos are garbage compared to these and not nearly as detailed. These videos are for and let me put it in capitals so you understand BEGINNERS and to get them using good habits. Hence being instructional. If you want viewing pleasure I think your on the wrong website.

+Xeanee I think he does this to let you know the exact dilution used on that stage as it can vary from no dilution to several parts thinner/water. I love these tutorials, some of the best on you tube imo.
