That's awesome. I know how I'll be painting my planes now. With just a few colour changes. Thanks for that technique. This looks like the beginning of the return of Epic.

With these and the titans it definitely seems like we're being drip fed a future epic scale game.

It looks great and I like the use of the Contrast and Traditional paints together. You get the best of both paints and the Contrast Paints are truly a ready made wash. Thanks for sharing this and I look forward to more tutorials.
@PeteTheWargamer5 жыл бұрын
Contrast paints are much more than their "One thick coat" marketing, it's just a matter of experimenting with them to see what they can do. As soon I saw that they were translucent and work really well as glazes it just opened up a whole load of extra uses for them.
@PijamasGagarin5 жыл бұрын
Remarkable and easy to watch. I like it that you continue using contrast paints and mixing it with other techniques to show a variety of its implications. :)

They are very versatile and deserve more than just the "one thick coat" tag line they've been given.

I never thought of doing colour modulation that way. Very interesting and great technique. Love the scheme as well!

Thank you very much. I've often seen colour modulation achieved via airbrushing so I wanted to try out applying it with a brush instead.

Loving your content so far! I just got into the hobby and have been looking for some good tutorials. I started with the Middle Earth SBG and wanted to ask, if you are still doing some of those miniatures in the future. Your Theoden and Fell Beast are helping me a lot already. Also a dedicated tutorial for using green stuff would be awesome!

use a dollop of soap (dish soap, brush soap,) to the wash. it breaks surface tension and the wash runs smoother in the recesses.

That was very cool. Loved seeing that panel modulation. Does that translate to larger vehicles?
@PeteTheWargamer5 жыл бұрын
It's a little more work and easier to do with an airbrush but the modulation is a technique I've seen most widely used on larger scale vehicles so definitely!

Did you spray the mini with chaos black before the mechanicus standard grey? I got a grainy result when I sprayed a mini with the grey without priming it with chaos black first ...

Pete, great vid. Can you use Lahmia medium with the contrast paints? I haven't tried myself yet but will that work instead of the contrast medium or are the contrasts made up with a different carrier for the pigment? As for the actual scheme.. Nice and simple, which is what the Astra Militarum would be going for, easy enough to switch the stripe colours on the wings to seperate different squadrons.

It's a more niche market, the same as Adeptus Titanicus. Might be more popular amongst those (including me) who played the original Space Marine epic scale games and the old vehicle games like Dark Future.
