Today is my firstborn son's birthdate. He passed away 3yrs ago due to a fentanyl overdose. As I was thinking of him today, this song came on. First time I ever heard it. Took my breath away, even more when I watched the video. Timothy was a BMX rider and I would take him and his friends into Philly to ride. Thank you so very much for this priceless gift your band as given me.

Lost my mum to cancer a year ago. I listened to this a lot before it happened and I continue to listen to it. She lived a successful, honourable life helping others as a nurse. Nobody can avoid pain, but we can each of us do what we can to make it a bit less. This song helps.

The solo at the end transmits what the song wants to explain, the pain, the end of a love relationship, this song makes me cry, because I'm going through that, the guitar at the beginning begins with a sad melody and then changes to a I strum loudly as with rage and anger as it happens at the end of a love affair that was special

Patterson Hood of the Drive By Truckers talks about what he calls “perfect songs,” which couldn’t possibly be made better by changing anything about them. This is a perfect song, and the way he weaves such atmospheric sounds into lyrics so deep is actually quite spiritual. Pain and fear are so basic to being human, and the way he touches on them takes what’s often seen as negative and flips it to an expression of human connection and solidarity. This isn’t just a “perfect song.” I don’t know if you could make a more perfectly human piece of art at all.

That solo at the end is like guitar turned into the human emotion of pain; its like it is aggravated and distressed that it cant change and it works with the song so well, we start to hear small changes that only hint at attempts to make something work/change only to be caught in the same note again(pain), then it carries on over the melody which I interpret as life is always painful, however it shows the human spirit of wanting to make it work...what?.... Wow. The musicality and innovation of this band is unheard of.

I used to listen to this song when I was 14 and I suddenly remembered it today, 6 years later-couldn’t remember anything but the first few opening notes lol but I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Spent hours looking through the liked videos on multiple KZbin accounts to find it. Worth it. I’m not forgetting about this song again.

This thread right here, totally restores my faith in music of current times being as good, if not a little better than some songs of days gone by. I think what they have captured here is a vibe many folk needed...respect to these boys... FILL THE GAP....do it. We have two songs which seem to be TIME MACHINE numbers which could have been dragged into the modern day from decades ago.....THE CHILD by URBAN SEASCAPE.....and SAILING ON A CLOUD by STEPHEN RUSSELL....pay no heed to small amounts of plays...the future is bright for them both with no massive budget or Record Label behind them...just Joe Public's support. Maybe we should invent a new chart....TIME MACHINE NUMBERS OF TODAY.

Yes, it's really hard to find any upside to dealing with chronic pain, but I've always found that music helps. I have chronic pancreatitis and sometimes just eating food can cause severe bouts of visceral pain. Nothing like sweating and literally being worn out and shaking from weakness from having to endure severe pain for hours on end. But, music definitely helps, sometimes a lot. Very thankful to have access to music such as this.

"I met a man with a broken back He had a fear in his eyes that I could understand I can't even shake the hand Without breaking it" This is so humble, so regretful, so desperate, so beautiful, so self-aware, so hopeful for a better a future... SO HUMAN. I am incapable of putting it into words. I break into tears like a baby as soon as Adam sings "pain is on the wait out now" at the very beginning of the song, overwhelmed with emotions that were hidden deep inside just seconds ago. EVERY SINGLE TIME. I cant help but shout out loud every word as they were mine. "Pull me close and let me hold you in. GIVE ME THE DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF WHO I AM". It's weird... I find this line sounds so like me. Not the person people sees when they look at me, but who I think I TRULY am, deep down in my heart... That somehow I feel I couldnt sound so much like myself even if I tried. Just WOW. Thank you guys for this masterpiece. There are very few songs that hit me so hard (one of them is Bowie's "Slow burn" in case somebody wants to check it out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rmewdZuqd6qgedU 🙂).
