If we're truly honest with ourselves, without Boba getting as popular as he did, there would be no Mandalorians at all. Before there was Din, or Sabine, or Jango, before the EU brought us Jaster Mereel, Cassus Fett, Mandalore the First and the Taung, there was Boba. Boba, who was meant to be a template for an army of special troopers trained in the offhandedly named Mandalore sector. They didn't have the budget to make a hundred copies of the suit, and so Boba Fett, lone bounty hunter was born. Nobody planned for him to be as big as he was, and a whole culture sprung around the image of this one man, complete with codes of honour, rituals, traditional food, war chants, and a whole ass con language. You can spend hours diving into Mandalorian culture, and for what? We loved the small glimpse we got of this guy so much we made an entire creed of people out of him. Made thousands of years of fictional history and culture. Like it or not, he's the progenitor of all Mandalorians. That is something you can't ever take away from his legacy.

To start and end the debate, Luke is the son of Vader, Force affinity is confirmed to be genetically passed down, and he was trained by two Master Jedi. Imo Boba had about the right amount of intimidation factor and ruthlessness when he showed up in Mando Season 2 while still maintaining a sense of honor. A shame they couldn't see that. Some may argue he should've been more ruthless but it was still acceptable especially with the standoff scene in 2x08 with Reeves and Bo. Him being a kid in the Clone Wars could allow viewers to imagine his "descent into darkness", but how he became this "honorable warrior" type in Mando Season 2 could've been explained better in the Boba Fett show
@silvertongue.242_992 жыл бұрын
If they did boba from bounty hunter to a crime lord a ruthless on with his own moral code but a threat that would have worked. Instead they went for a hero type character trying to change his ways
@arthand76722 жыл бұрын
I think they could have easily succeeded if it was about a villian character trying to change his ways to be a hero. The problem(to me) was that if you look at the first 6 episodes... you get 33% boba trying to figure out who put a hit out on him, 33% flashbacks and 33% mandalorian season 3. Then the finale is just a fight against the Pikes and Cad Bane, and they had about a combined 5 minutes of screentime in the leadup to it. It feels like if you took a 23 episode show and cut it down to 6 episodes of content but kept the finale the same...
@matti.84652 жыл бұрын
I'm fine with Boba Fett becoming a more honorable character, the issue is that he basically started the show that way. An old bounty hunter having a near-death experience and deciding to change, but having his past (and his father's legacy) catch up to him in the form of other bounty hunters and Cad Bane (a reflection of who Boba used to be) is a great concept.

I LOVE Mando, but golly, he really did hijack the show, LOL. It’s okay though, in the end, I loved seeing him reunite with Grogu, fight alongside Boba, and get his beskar handed to him by Boba’s rancor, because it’s no less than he deserved for being such a jerk and taking over a couple episodes, LOL. I think the whole series is good for Boba fett fans, but it def could have been executed better. Mando is where it is at now. Fresh character that is free to go anywhere a good story needs him to be, which the mandalorian seasons 1 and 2 did. Hoping season 3 would do the same tho lol We also kind of needed book of boba, otherwise going straight to Season 3 would have given the fans fatigue over Mando.

Except that's not the case. Not all all. Din and Boba are different characters, from birth, to morals, and ethics. Mando just seems cooler because Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni love to hype up their OC characters at the cost of legacy, Boba Fett is genuinely one of the most well rehearsed and well developed characters in the expanded universe.
@orcbum4 ай бұрын
@@darthmortem585 i don't disagree to an extent, but it's more that din is a fresh face/naked template, while boba is over-developed and harder to write a compelling "star wars" story for. i put star wars in quotes because the main issue with show writing for a long-lived IP is that it needs to showcase the primary element of the IP, which is the jedi. mandalorian works as a show because of grogu. grogu attracts viewers from all spectrums of the fanbase (and then some, given how cute he is), and doesn't require too much commitment to detract from other story plots a writer may want to write about. you just can't easily do that with boba since he's established as jango's son/clone. he comes with a lot of baggage and history from even before the clone wars, and tying in a jedi-element would require a lot exposition on both boba and the jedi. it's probably why they added in din/grogu to the boba show to begin with, as they're popular and the writers wouldn't need to have ahoska and boba address the elephant in the room, so to speak. imo tho that's the biggest missed opportunity for me. boba has all the motivation and potential as a character to be an "honorable figure" he was pushed towards to being if the writers had taken the time to bridge boba's past to the present star wars universe. boba needed more build up and exposure, and imo should've been in the mandalorian for some episodes to build up his character prior to the book of boba fett.
